"How much longer before we get there?" The sun was pounding as the car sped down the highway... We were headed to Charlestown, WV to pick up our new puppy... The drive was about six hours but he was the closest Doberman breeder...
Justin had his heart set on a doberman but personally i had never seen one in person... let me tell you that they are overwhelming in person... The puppies of course look like small daschunds, but the parents were huge... I mean huge! The mother on her hind legs was taller than me and I am 5"7 and the dad well lets just say on the big dog scale he is up there...
I picked out the fattest little boy in there since Justin said they would be the healthiest and the strongest... He was soo cute the whole way up there we narrowed down the long list of names from Champ to Seth to Rosco lol... We have decided on the name DAMON! Cute right... We wanted something that sounded protective and bold... What we got was a big baby....
The whole way home Damon slept on his new fuzzy bed with his new fuzzy bear... He seemed so peaceful and Justin told me it wouldn't last long... I swear it seemed like we were new parents...
We held him and rubbed him and fed him and it was great.. I hated leaving them both when i had to go to work... on Monday...
When I came home about two days after we got him, Damon got really really sick! We took him to the emergency vet and they said it wasn't good...
"Baby I know it's a lot of money, but he is soo sweet and..... " I cried in the waiting room... The doctor had told us that Damon had parvo and he would die without treatment but that he could still die even if treated... "Ok sweetie we will do the treatment!!!" He smiled and said, "Everything is going to be fine!"
Everything was fine... we had to leave Damon at the vets for a week while he recovered and the doctor advised us to go home and clorox everything to keep him from getting the virus again. Everything that he touched or ate out of was spotless for his return...
"Are you fucking serious... you let the whole litter die from parvo when you told us that you gave them the shots?" he babbled on about how his puppies had never had parvo and blah blah blah... "You know what i want my money back... I need that money to pay this big ass vet bill!"
Do you know what he told me... he told me to sue him... He had better be glad that he lives so far away otherwise i would have stuck my foot up his little inbred ass!
We brought damon home on the next Monday... even though he had spent more time with the vet than us he still bounded over to us and eagerly jumped into my arms.. He was noticeably smaller and his little leg was shaved from the iv. My tears started pouring again as I realized I had pratically been holding my breath since the whole situation began.
I GOT MY BABY BACK!!!
