"What did you just say?" Bella asked, stunned.

Mark smiled, "I asked you to marry me."

Bella's stomach dropped and she ran for the bathroom. Mark's heart sank. She doesn't feel the same way, he thought. Mark staggered to the bathroom sullenly. He couldn't hear Bella so he asked a woman for help.

"Excuse me miss?" Mark asked a woman passing him to go into the bathroom. The woman turned around. She was very attractive with slender curves, almond shaped brown eyes and long red hair. She smiled, her expression hopeful.

"Yeah?" she answered.

"Um...my wife just ran in there and I was wondering if you could go in there and tell me if she's alright?" Mark explained.

The redhead's face fell. Then, she smiled. "Sure," she agreed. "What is your wife wearing?"

"A yellow sundress with white polka dots," Mark told her. The redhead nodded and went into the bathroom. After a couple of minutes, she returned smiling. "Your wife is fine," she assured. "She said that she got kind of sick but she's alright now."

Mark nodded. "Okay. Thank you so much."

"You're welcome," she said, flashing him one last smile before she flipped her hair and walked away. Mark sat and wated for what seemed like hours when it was only a matter of seconds. Bella walked out, her hair sticking to her sweaty face. Her makeup was running down her cheeks and she looked exhausted.

"Are you okay?" Mark asked, concerned. Bella simply shook her head, avoiding his gaze.

"Alright," Mark sighed. He stood and pulled a one hundred dollar bill out of his wallet. He walked to the counter and threw it in front of the host. "Keep the change," he flashed his smile. Then, he walked over to Bella and threw her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

"Put me down!" Bella screeched.

"Thank you so much Mr. Vandenbush," the host said, his face bright with glee as Mark passed the counter.

"My wife is kind of sick, sire. So thank you! And you folks have a great night!" Mark replied, flashing his best commercial dazzling smile as he walked out of the restaurant.

"Mark Vandenbush, put me down this instant!" Bella screamed. Mark laughed heartily and set Bella down on her feet, his hands not leaving her hips.

"What?" Mark teased. "You don't like being swept off of your feet?" He chuckled again and let one of his hands slid around her waist and rest on the small of her back. Bella was flattered, but it would take hell frozen over on a platter to make her admit it.

"No! As the matter of fact, I don't!" Bella retorted, getting so close to Mark's face that she could feel the electricity between their lips. Mark looked down at her and he leaned in. Bella pulled away.

"I think I should stay at Danielle and Derek's tonight," she said, closing her eyes.

Mark was taken aback. "But why?" he asked, his voice quiet.

"I just need time to get away," she explained.

"Can I still come with you to the doctor's in the afternoon?" Mark pleaded.

"I don't know if that's such a good idea," Bella hesitated. Then, Danielle pulled up and honked the horn, giving Mark the 'I'm sorry' look. Bella slowly backed away, "I'm sorry Mark. I really am." And with taht she climbed in the car and drove away with Danielle.
