Julia awoke to the feeling of the cool night air resting on her cheek. She opened her eyes and watched the trees whip by. Matt was driving pretty fast. Julia slowly sat up and shivered. The last thing she remembered was her father throwing her to the ground. She cringed at the horrible flashback and brought the blanket up to cover her bare breasts, trusting that Matt didn't do anything.

"Are you okay?" Matt asked, breaking the silence and closing the windows. The inside of the car became warmed almost instantly.

"Yeah," Julia replied, seeing a large t-shirt on the floor of the car. She slipped it over her slender frame and pulled her hair back into a ponytail. She manuevered her way into the front seat and said, "I am now," kissing Matt on the cheek. Although he was always cold, contact with his body always made her become warm.

"So, where are we goin?" Julia asked.

"I'm not sure yet. We need to get far away from this place," Matt explained, a protective tone lingering in his voice. "Your father...he may be dead." His face softened as he looked over at her.

"My father has been dead to me since I was ten years old," she exclaimed, crossing her arms and looking the other way at the passing trees. Matt nodded in agreement. He understood. The only father figure he had ever had was Kyle. His own father never wanted him. His older brother, Timothy, was always his father's shining star. Matt thought that by joining the military, that would have changed. Matt was then jerked from his thoughts from Julia's voice screaming, "Matt! Look out!"

The brakes squealed but they didn't stop the car's collision with the tree. After the smoke cleared, Matt turned to see if Julia was alright. She was gone.
