“Sure,” Justin answered, setting down his glass. “What do you need to talk to me about?”

 

“Um,” I said, uneasy, “Can we go somewhere? Like the park?”

 

“Sure,” he said, grabbing his keys as I grabbed my purse. I waddled out to his car and hoisted myself into the passenger seat. I could tell by the look on Justin’s face that he knew something was coming. Justin hopped behind the wheel and started the car. The engine roared and we slowly began to drive toward the park.

 

“Are you okay?” he asked, concerned.

 

“I’m fine,” I said, faking a smile. I didn’t know how I was going to tell him. I thought he knew I was pregnant. Boy was I wrong. When we arrived at the park, Justin quickly turned off the car, and ran to the other side of the car to open the door for me.

 

“Thank you,” I responded, meekly.

 

We walked for a while in silence. Then, Justin grabbed my hand. I looked up at him and smiled. I didn’t know if I could do it or not. I didn’t want to wreck this perfect moment. It reminded me of the time Jamie and her boyfriend Drew walked through this same park with me and Michael. However, this time was different. I could hear the birds chirping and I could smell the beautiful flowers. It felt like I was a whole new person and nothing could bring me down. Wrong again.

 

As we came to the bench by the fountain in the center of the park, I stopped and sat down. Justin joined me and took both my hands in his and smiled down at me. He softly kissed my cheek and said, “So what did you need to talk to me about?”

 

I took a deep breath and let it out. “Oh come on,” he joked, smiling, “It can’t be that hard.”

 

I laughed. “Oh trust me. It is,” I stated, looking away and shutting my eyes.

 

“Well c’mon,” he said. “Out with it. You’re making me nervous.”

 

“I’m the one that’s nervous. Well here goes. I’m pregnant,” I exclaimed quickly, looking down at my feet and shutting my eyes.

 

“Oh no!” Justin said, hugging me. “It’ll be okay.”

 

“But I’m not sure whose it is,” I cried. “It’s either yours or Brad’s. I’m so sorry.” I broke out in sobs.

 

“It’ll be okay,” Justin soothed, rubbing my back.

 

Then he sprang up with a huge smile on his face. “I have the most brilliant idea!” he screamed.

 

“What?” I asked, wiping my eyes.

 

“Let’s get married!” he said, smiling.
