Then, the tears came. He didn’t love me like I loved him at all. I sat up and walked into the bathroom, slamming the door with as much fury as possible. As I turned on the shower, making sure the water was as cold as possible, I cried. I left the water running and slumped against the door, falling to the floor. I didn’t know what to do. I climbed into the shower and let the cold water run down my body. I washed my hair and let the smell of Justin’s cologne come off of me, being replaced with the smell of strawberries and cream. I stepped out of the shower and grabbed a warm towel. It was warm and fuzzy and almost masked my inner sadness.

Then, I heard my cell phone ringing. It was Angie.

“Hello?” I answered.

“What happened with you and Brad?! I thought you guys were happy?” Angie let the words stream from her mouth so fast, I asked her to repeat it slower.

“WHAT…HAPPENED…WITH…YOU…AND BRAD?” she yelled into the other line, “GOD! Do you want me to say it in another language too?”

I rolled my eyes, “Geez, Ang. What crawled up your ass?”

“Oh nothing but the fact that last night, you and Brad were happy and laughing and now he’s calling me screaming about what a whore you are,” she screamed, “while—let me point out to you, I am on my honeymoon!” I heard her take a deep breathe and her new husband, John, murmuring soothing words to calm her down.

I took a deep breath and began to explain myself.

“Well, after when Brad dropped me off last night, Justin was here waiting. And I got so excited to see him,” I explained, softly. “So, Brad got jealous and he went home. And then Justin told me something about Jamie and we were just talking for a while and he ended up staying here because with your wedding no hotels are vacant.”

I heard her laugh and I continued with my story.

“So he stayed the night. Then, this morning Brad came over early and he and Justin got into a fight. It was crazy and then Brad stormed out saying I belong with Justin and…”

BEEP!

There was someone on my other line. It was Justin. I ignored it and continued with my story.

“So, he stormed out and Justin left after that.”

“You’re sure that’s all that happened?” my sister, the detective that she is, didn’t sound convinced.  There was no way I was telling her I slept with Justin.

“Yeah, I’m sure,” I replied, lying through my teeth.

“Okay, well I’m going to get back to my husband but if you need anything, you’re still my little sister. So call please?” she begged.

I laughed and responded, “I will. Don’t worry. Have fun!”

And with that, we hung up. I set down my phone on the dresser and started to dress. Then, my phone vibrated. I had a voicemail and it was no doubt from Justin. I dialed voicemail and listened to the message he left.
