Premonitions - Epilogue

Short Created on 6-6-08 Views(21) Story Rating G

After Gaby’s abduction, Michael and I have come to find that the man who kidnapped Gaby was someone who worked for Gaby’s father, and he apparently had a thing for her, but Gaby still has no idea of who he is. Her mother says she was very young at the time.

At the court hearing, he gave me the dirtiest stare. The kind that says, "If it wasn’t for you, I would have never gotten caught." I just smiled, pleased by what I’ve done. I looked over at Gaby. Her skin is like goose flesh, and she’s trembling terribly. I wanted to reach over to her, to let her know it was almost over, but I didn't want to make her feel more uncomfortable than she already was. The judge read the sentence, and I saw Gaby release the breath she had been holding ever since she walked in the courtroom. He’s now in a county jail, exactly where he should be.

Now it’s been a year since all this chaos, and things are just the way they should be. Gaby and I are now seniors in high school and having the time of our lives. Our relationship has strengthened so much because of these unwelcome circumstances, and I’ve come to realize that I should never take her for granted because you never really know what you’ve got till it’s gone and I was devastated when I thought I had lost her.

I’m sure you’re wondering about my psychic visions that helped all this mess go away. I don’t get my premonitions anymore, which is fine with me. I've always considered them an inconvenience, a scary thing that made me see the unthinkable, like my father's death. But after all that has happened, I guess maybe I'm supposed to have them in situations like that. If I didn't, there's no telling where Gaby would be right now. And without her there's probably no telling where I would be either.

Michael is finally out of the house. He’s going to a university in Florida ‘cause according to him, "that’s where all the babes are." He’s hopeless. I kinda miss him being here though, and Gaby does too. Ha, she finally admitted she had the biggest crush on him.

Basically life is how it should be. No abductions of my best friend, no visions in my sleep, and no brother helping me catch a bad guy 7 o’ clock on a Saturday morning. I couldn’t ask for anything more normal. I’m happy to have my best friend back for life. And if anyone tries to ruin this for me again, I’ll catch ‘em in my sleep.
