Until Angels Close My Eyes 3
|
"Hello," he said while trying to look excited to be there.
"Let's go inside." She led him into her home, and showed him to the couch.
"Have a seat," she offered while she sat herself down.
He hesitated, but eventually sat next to her on the couch.
"I'm so glad you came." She placed her hand on his knee. Adam flinched, and moved farther away from her on the couch.
She followed after him. "You don't have to be so shy," she said...still smiling.
Adam found her smile annoying, yet comforting. "I'm not. I just don't feel like I should be here."
"And why is that?"
"I...I don't know."
"Oh," she paused. "Well, I wouldn't want you to be anywhere else." Her smile grew bigger.
Without warning, she leaned in and kissed him fully on the mouth. She ran her hands up his shirt. Finally Adam pulled away. He starred at her surprised, shocked. She starred back at him smiling just a little.
Adam finally stood up, not taking his eyes off of her. "I have to go," he said.
He walked towards the door, and Katrina followed after him. "Wait," she cried behind him. "Don't leave so soon."
"I should have never came in the first place."
Katrina looked hurt, but Adam didn't care. He opened the door and walked out.
He reached in his pocket for his cell phone. He dialed his uncle's number and waited for him to pick up. His uncle finally answered the phone, and before he could even say hello, Adam said, "Come get me."
"But you've practically just got there. Are you okay?"
"Yea, I'm fine just please come get me."
Still sounding worried, his uncle replied, "Alright, I'm on my way."
It didn't take long for his uncle to arrive. He hurried into the car. His uncle looked at him for a second. "Are you sure your okay?" he asked.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just please, lets go home."
They rode in silence. Adam was still in shock by Katrina's move. In a sense he felt guilty, as if he had broken some sort of promise to Lexi.
It broke his heart.
Finally they arrived home and Adam quickly went to his room and locked the door. He went to the picture on his nightstand. "Lexi, I didn't want that to happen. You know I would never hurt you."
Suddenly his uncle knocked. "May I come in?"
"Yea, sure. Hold on." He went to the door and unlocked it to let his uncle in.
"I'm fine okay, so don't think anything is wrong," Adam said.
"Why did you leave so early?"
"I didn't feel comfortable," he answered.
"Adam, did something happen? You seem a little tense."
"No, nothing happened." He looked over at the picture of him and Lexi. After a long silence he said, "I betrayed her."
"What?" his uncle asked confused.
Adam looked down at the floor. "I broke a promise to Lexi. I let her down."
"So...something did happen, didn't it?"
Adam looked at his uncle with sad eyes. "She kissed me. She came out of no where and kissed me."
"But you didn't do anything out of line. It's not your fault, Adam."
"You don't understand. I liked it, and I shouldn't have."
His uncle didn't know what to say. He couldn't think of a way to tell him that he shouldn't feel guilt.
"I'm a bad person. I'm such a dumbass!" Adam said, while pacing the floor.
"No you aren't Adam. I know you feel guilty about this. But you can't control these things.
Look, just because you liked the kiss doesn't mean you like the person who gave it to you."
"That isn't the point. The point is I kissed another girl. Its unfair to Lexi."
There was another silence. "Maybe I shouldn't have came here. This would have never happened."
"Adam, maybe this was supposed to happen," his uncle finally said.
Puzzled, Adam asked, "What makes you think that?"
"Maybe Lexi sent you here, so you can meet that girl. Maybe she sees how much your hurting so she's trying to make it better."
"I don't think so." But deep down, Adam thought maybe his uncle was right. But then again, what if he wasn't.
"I just wish I could talk to her. I wish I could know for sure she's the reason this happened."
"I know," his uncle said.
"Maybe in the morning I'll feel less bad about all of this," Adam said optimistically.
"Sure. I'll let you get some sleep," his uncle said as he walked to the door. "And Adam, don't beat yourself up about this."
"I'll try."
His uncle left the room, and Adam prepared himself for bed. He laid in his bed, once again starring at the picture. It was like a habit he couldn't break.
"Lexi, if you are doing this, please let me know. Please let me know you aren't mad."
