Stand In The Rain [{(chapter 2)}]

She was in shock. She knew he was moving and they would end up breaking up sooner or later. Why did it have to be now though? Couldn’t it be later? Well obviously not. As soon as she herd those two words ‘it’s over’ the whole two years she spent with him and what could have been flashed before her eyes. She just stood there in front of him, her facial expression as blank as a piece of paper in a brand-new sketchbook. She looked down at her feet

“I’m sorry Drew, but I have to go now.” She turned around and started running as fast as she could. About halfway to her house she broke down and it started to rain. How could he do that to her? He said he loved her and she knew -or thought- he meant it and then he breaks up with her just like that, except for one little tear. It was probably a fake tear anyway. He wouldn’t cry over something like that would he? The words it’s over keep repeating in her head like a broken record player.

She didn’t feel like she could walk any farther so she sat on the curb, her head in her knees, crying. Rain pouring down, everything soaked, dead silence -except for the rain hitting the pavement and the tiny sobs coming from her every once in a while. If u didn’t look close you wouldn’t even be able to tell she was crying. She was almost silent just letting the tears roll down her cheeks. Then, she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up. Who was it? She didn’t know him. She have never seen him before and he looked about her age.

“Are you okay?” He asked. He had ice blue eyes and black hair with a few blondish highlites.

“Not really. Who are you?”

“Oh, right, my name is Derek, and you are?”

“Destiney”

“OK, Destiney, Nice to meet you.” HE sat down next to her about 3 feet away so she wouldn’t feel like he was stalking her or anything like that. “So what happened that made you cry? or do you not wanna talk about it?”

“Don’t really wanna talk about it... why don’t I know you?”

“Oh, uhm, I just moved here. I live like 3 blocks away from here so I figured I’d take a walk to get to know the neighborhood. Then it starts raining and I see you here sitting on the curb and what looks like crying so I think why would someone as pretty as her be crying. Yeah I know that was random but that’s me... I should just stop talking now.” He said kind of embarrassed and looked over at her. She looked back at him with a confused look, but she didn’t know what she was confused about.

“I was crying because guys are such asses... my boyfriend just broke up with me because he’s moving but he isn’t moving for a week, so why didn’t he wait until he left?”

“I don’t know but I know what you’re going through sorta. All I can tell you is he’s not worth it.”

“Easy for you to say.” She said under her breath. “How would you know what I’m going through?”

“My girlfriend broke up with me last year because she was moving in 3 months. Then, after we broke up she went out with someone else. So it’s kinda the same I guess.” Wow that’s a lot worse so maybe he does know how I feel... unless he’s lying. She thought as she looked at her phone. 2:16.

“Well I should get going. See you around sometime.”

“Yeah. One question though, Where do you live?”

“Few blocks that way.” She pointed down the street to where her house was.

“Same here. Mind if I walk you home?” He asked hoping he hadn’t said the wrong thing.

“Yeah, sure, if you want to.”

“Okay awesome, I... I mean.... Cool.” She smiled at him and they started walking. They started talking about their lived and what they did.

“Well here’s my house.”

“Okay well I’ll see you later sometime.”

“Yep see you later” she started walking up the sidewalk to her house.

“Hey, Uhm Destiney?”

“Yeah?”

“Can I have your number?”

“Yeah sure.” She walked back to where he was standing. “Cell phone?” She held out her hand, he handed her his cell phone and she programmed her number into it. She gave his phone back, walked back up the sidewalk and into her house.
