“How much do you like me?” He asked as we pulled back onto the highway.

“Enough.”

“That’s fair.”

“Very.”  I smiled and then looked out the window as drops of rain started to lightly cover the car.

“I hope it isn’t raining when we get there,  don’t want to have to get there and have to turn around.” 

“Gabe?”

“Yes Mel?”

“I didn’t bring a bathing sut.”

“Hmmmm.”  He said as he smiled at me.  “So?”

“So.  Aren’t we going to a lake?”

“Yeah we are.”

“So I need a bathing suit.”

“I guess you do.”

“Do you think any place will be open?”

“Yeah,  the mall doesn’t close until 10:30 it’s only nine.”  My phone started to vibrate as Gabriel pulled off the highway onto an exit.

“It’s my mom.  What do I tell her?”

‘It’s probably not your mom.  You didn’t even see the caller ID it’s probably just Charlie or Leo.”  I looked at the caller ID and sure enough it was my mom.

“It’s defentally my mom.”  I said as Gabriel slowed to a stop on the side of the road and then turned his car off.

“Well,  tell her the truth.  Don’t make her worry more then she has too.”

“Sounds easy enough.”  I flipped open my phone and didn’t even get a chance to say “hello” Before my mom’s voice violently flooded the car.

“Melody Ann Fergusson where the hell are you?”  I could hear Justin in the background crying.

“I’m with Gabriel, mum.”

“I didn’t ask who you’re with asked, where you are.”

“I don’t know mom.”

“What do you MEAN you don’t know?   Get your ass home now!”

“Mom I’m fine.”  Just then Gabriel pulled the phone out of my hand.

“Hello?”  He said as he started the car up again.  I couldn’t hear what my mom was saying and by the expression on Gabriel’s face I couldn’t even figure out what she was saying.  A sly smile spread cheek to cheek on his face as he tried to convince my mom that we were all right.

“I assure you everything is going to be fine,  we are just going to my cabin on Lake George-“  He quickly smiled then winked at me.  “Yes,  Lake George New york.”  He Grimanced as he turned left into a Mall parking lot and cut the engine in a parking spot closest to the food court.

“Are you hungry?”  He wispered to me as he “mmmmhmmmed” my mom.

“Are you?”  I said laughing as well opened our doors and headed towards the front doors.

“Yes sheila I promise you first thing Sunday morning we’ll be on our way home.”  He opened the door for me and then paused in the door way,  holding the door open for a family entering the mall also.

“Yeah I’ll make sure.  I’ll see you later.  Goodbye.”  He hung up the phone and then headed towards the food court.

“How did you do that?”  I asked as we got in line behind a couple at Quizno’s.

“Do what?” 

“Convince my mom to let me stay with you?”

“I’m just good like that.”  He winked again.

“Do you have something in your eye?”  I said winking back at him.

“No.”  He giggled.  “You know Mel you are so adorable.”

“Awww really?”

“Yes really.”
