I stared down at those green eyes and wanted to weep, this was the closest thing I had to family. so now I had to escape. I grabbed the little girl up into my arms and raced to my room, packing what I could. I ran around, looking for the smallest shirts I had and then setting the little girl on my bed, racing to my dads room I looked in pure disgust at the mess, but found what I wanted, the family albums and the money stashed away. Stuffing what looked like 500 dollars I raced out, and stopped at the bathroom, grabbing what I could and started off into my room. The little girls eyes followed my every movement. They looked so hollow and soul-less. The way she looked at things when I stopped, was with aww. Like she never had lived in a decent home. I finally had 4 bags packed and my purse in hand. I started to grab the girl when I thought I heard the door open, I closed the door breathing hard, and hid myself and the girl in the closet and made sure she felt safe. I didn’t hear anything, so I crawled out, looking up and down the hall after I had opened the door, I quickly went to find a plastic bag for food, and the keys to my dads van. I grabbed the decent food and started to take the stuff out to the van, and finally got in with the girl, got buckled, and left. Driving down I-11 I headed for the mall, I would be safe and I could get this girl some good stuff. I looked at her, guessing her age, I guessed she would be about 3 or 4. She would need some therapy when she got older, I know this, I guessed right away when I saw her hollow eyes that she didn’t just see some strangers die, she saw her mother die. The mall was very full, I grabbed her out of the seat and started towards the little kids stuff, I stared at the prices in one store, too much, and the other the cloths were ripping already. I settled for the middle priced store, and picked up some warm and cool cloths, pajamas and some other little things. I then stopped at a little store with toys and let her smile at all the toys, and the first toy she grabbed for was a panda. So that’s what I got her, along with a blanket and a pillow, I then paid and left. I had a store clerk help me, I told him I needed help and I how I felt uncomfortable this late at night, walking alone with a child, he helped me and so i gave him a little tip. I then went to a little store with hair dye, I went and bought a light brown for her and a little bit darker one for me. It would work. I started out of town, and didn’t stop till I almost swerved off the road. We stopped at a dingy hotel, we had to check out at noon, but that’s all the time we needed. I slept with little rest and tossed and turned while the other little girl slept like a rock. I finally woke up and I turned over. I looked up to see a gun pointed in my face.
