I steady myself to where I could crawl and saw one of my brothers, bleeding from the head. Oh my god. I stared and saw that there were a whole bunch more people bleeding to death, probably would be dead before I could get an ambulance here. I stood up, feeling woozy, then I saw something that before my mom died that I would have cried about, I saw my dad, dead, on the floor. I almost cried from pure agony of loss and happiness of triumph and freedom, I would just need to get my stuff together grab the car and go, call from a pay phone and I would be free! Then I heard it, a whimper, I wanted to cry, I thought he was alive, but then it wasn’t what I thought, it wasn’t manly enough to be someone my dads age, I looked around the corner, I heard it clearer. I stepped my way over the broken glass and blood to the closet which held all of the sports stuff. I saw a foot, oh my, the foot of a little kid, but I couldn’t tell if it was a boy or girl yet, because I couldn’t see its face, I realized it was a girl, and she must have been left by the person who stared at me through the window. It all started to make sense. My father had gotten drunk and had sex with a lady and the lady must have had the child, and when the man found out the child wasn’t his he must have tracked my dad down and left the little girl here. I picked her up and she cried, but in a good way, I held her tight and never wanted to let go, this was like my sister! I stared down at the light brown hair…like mine. The lovely green eyes…like mine. Maybe…just maybe… I wasn’t alone.
