Like it is written in the book of Isaiah, the book of Zechariah was written by more than one prophet. The first Zechariah lived around the time of Haggai, after the exiled Israelites came back to Jeraausalem from babylon. Second Zechariah, who could have been more than one person, wrote about 200 years after First Zechariah. The message in chapter 1-8 is written by the First Zechariah, and is very opptomistic. It is centered on the two concerns of rebuilding the temple and the end of time. The First Zechariah saw that rebuilding the temple would be needed to restore the peoples unity, identity, and their relationship with God. He showed his message through a series of visions. HE announced his message that under the giadance of the priest Joshua and the prince Zerubbabel Israel would be restored. It would be a nation of faith, justice, mercy, lovem and truth. the Lord would be there. Even non-Jews would come from distant places to worship the Lord there. Second Jeremiah wrote when Israel was under Greek control. He spread his message through oracles or promisem warning, and violence. He talkeds about a great  battle between good and evil that would come.
