  • Chapter two—
  •
  • He stood there taller than before, and from what she could tell from his exposed torso, muscular than any other man on the vessel. His midnight black hair had grown to the point where the spiked ends touched his broad shoulders slightly and seemed even longer in the back.
  •
  • But what hadn’t changed were his gentle eyes. They still held that dark secret that taunted any man’s knowledge in ways where they begged to withhold the clandestine as well.
  •
  • Liam faced forward again and with a single command, the ship lurched forward and she nearly collapsed to the floor.
  •
  • If she was gonna live there, she needed to develop her sea legs, and quick.
  •
  • Elli ineptly stood and after dusting herself off, ran to the back of the ship to catch one last fleeting look of the place she called home for 19 years. The sudden thought of how heart-stricken Chelsea would be clawed at her heart. But this was worth it. She would finally be out on the seas where her heart belonged.
  •
  • Her thoughts were abruptly and crudely interrupted as one of the pirates called her out.
  •
  • “Oy. I don’ remembe’ seein’ ya on this ship before,” He said with a thoughtful expression. The next thing she knew the entire crew caught on and formed a circle around her.
  •
  • Her knees buckled unsteadily and her eyes darted back and forth like a cornered lab mouse, although, impossible as it may seem, a part of her was enthusiastic beyond imagination.
  •
  • “What’s yaer name, boy?” the same man asked gruffly. Elli swallowed the forming lump in her throat.
  •
  • “El....” she paused. By almost telling the crew her real name, Liam’s attention was caught and he, too, slyly made his way over to the group.
  •
  • “’El’ what?” another man persisted. From simply showing up, the ring cleared a path for the Captain to walk through and up to the foreigner.
  •
  • “Eli,” squeaked Elli in sight of his handsome features. It wasn’t her name that caught his attention.
  •
  • It was the sou’wester perched on top of her head. Liam’s eyes turned hostile and he inquired, in a cautious tone, where she got it. Nothing came out of her mouth because, truthfully, she hadn’t thought of him remembering the hat. Then again it was his hat. Infuriated, he gripped her collar forcefully and shoved her against the edge.
  •
  • “What did you do with the little girl who had that hat?!?!” he yelled feverishly. “Where is she now?!?! Is she still alive?!”
  •
  • Elli didn’t know what to do. Here she was being hustled for answers about herself by a man who suspected her as pretty much dead. If only he knew...
  •
  • “She’s...” Elli began, still contemplating on whether or not she should just lie about it and report her as deceased.
  •
  • “She’s what?!” he barked.
  •
  • “S-She’s dead, sir.” She muttered. Liam’s face went pale, his grip on her loosened, and he awkwardly backed off. The crew stared at him with wide eyes and mouths ajar. What had gotten into him? What was so important about this little girl?
  •
  • His vassal came up behind him and whispered something in his ear and with reluctance rolling off of him like sweat, he wandered up the stairs so his crew could see him clearly. No one knew what to suspect from him now that he became enraged about a female, so they all silenced themselves and watched with inquisitive expressions.
  •
  • Liam breathed uneasily, and like a towel being freed from water droplets in one flick, he became serious and his visage went rigid.
  •
  • “Gentlemen,” he said loudly, pacing across the deck. “I have word that a town not too far from here has produced a prince. And with a new born heir to the thrown comes jewels, trinkets, and lots, and lots of money. But lets be honest,” he paused in which he placed his hands on the railing and leaned forward. “He’s not gonna need all those valuables. We don’t want the precious prince growing up spoiled, now do we?”
  •
  • A sardonic chorus of chuckles echoed throughout the air and the Captain smirked.
  •
  • “So it’s settled. Set course for Berrington!” he shouted and the men cheered. Liam disappeared into his study below the deck and moments later, he came barging out with red tainted cheeks.
  •
  • ”Where the hell is my bloody map?!” he bellowed. A man in about his thirties shrinked his way up to him said something too low for Elli to hear, although she was at the bottom of the staircase. His brows furrowed and he bared his teeth as he pulled out his gun from within his coat.
  •
  • She bounded up the stairs and stood in front of the man he was about to shoot.
  •
  • “Wait, Captain Liam! I know these waters very well! I could guide you through them and to Berrington.” She piped up. Liam narrowed his eyes in contemplation and gradually hid away his gun.
  •
  • “Are ya sure ya know?” he asked quietly. Being aboard the ship no longer than half an hour and she had already found a way to appease him. Smiling, she nodded vigorously. By then the victim had scurried away and joined the other men in preparing the ship for sailing, leaving her alone with him.
  •
  • He let his eyes linger on her for a minute and then he faced the lower deck in search of something, or someone. Once the item wasn’t found, he grew irritated yet again.
  •
  • “Brent.” He sighed exasperatedly and the called darted to his side.
  •
  • “Yes, Cap’n?” he panted slightly.
  •
  • “Where the hell is Micah?” Liam asked pinching the bridge on his nose. “Has anyone seen Micah?!”
  •
  • A muffled voice came from up above, turning few heads upwards as the one they’d been searching for slid down a rope onto the deck. Liam’s attitude changed instantly.
  •
  • “Ahh, there you are.” He shoved Elli in his direction and ordered for him to show her the way to his study. The one she suspected as Micah told her to follow him. His hair was a mangy sandy blonde and his eyes were a fainted green.
  •
  • The atmosphere he exuded wasn’t anything near as calming as Liam’s, and neither was his appearance. Just being around him made her feel too uptight for no reason what so ever.
  •
  • A maple door greeted them and inside, in the middle of the light brown floor, was a desk. On the back of the study was a window that wrapped all the way around until a certain extent.
  •
  • Not what she had in mind, but oh well. Elli made her way to the desk, rummaged around and then she emerged with a scroll of paper, pen, and other tools to create a map.
  •
  • Micah suddenly locked the door, facing her with a satirical glaze in his eyes. She paused from her observing to see what he was up to.
  •
  • He pressed his tongue against his cheek, and asked, “How long do ya expect yaer secret t’be safe, Eli?”
  •
  • (bumbumbummmmm! :o oh no! Elli's secret has been found out, what will happen?! If u wanna know....keep reading, voting, and commenting! Woo! I mean....Argh!~@pp!3)
