• Chapter 9—
•  
• The first thing I saw was blackness. Ok, that was normal for someone who just closed their eyes. Then something platinum—as thin as a strand of hair—flashed across my view. I turned around to see what it was, but it was gone. Only until I faced forward did I see it again. About 5 feet from me was a man, probably 6’4’’, with his back to me. A silver braid was tightly weaved down his pale back to the small of it, right above a loose, white, skirt. I immediately recognized the man as Eros and ran to him. My hand crooned out to him, but when I was a foot away, he faced me. I stopped dead in my tracks. His eyes were burning a blood red and his expression was so cold and lifeless. This was not the Eros I knew. Frightened, I took a step back to escape his acid gaze.

• I awoke with a spine-curling shriek, face drenched with sweat yet again. I ran my hand along my nightstand to help me stand. Just as I was about to place my feet on the floor, my door bursted open to reveal the same silver-haired god that had terrorized my slumber. He rushed to my side and caught me before my knees made me submit to the extreme weakness, cautiously setting me down.
• “Jamie?! Jamie!? Can you hear me?! What’s wrong!?” He yelled, yet his tone was so gentle. I clung to his shirt with my face buried in his chest—it still wasn’t enough to muffle my hysterical sobs. He wrenched me off and held my face between his hands.
• “Jamie, answer me! What happened?!” he demanded again. Through a blurry vision, I saw how alarmed his face was. When I tried to replace my face in his shirt, his strength overpowered mine and I was forced to continue looking in his green eyes.
• “Look at me, Jamie! Tell me what’s wrong!” Eros said. I couldn’t take it anymore. I forcefully yanked his hands from my face and threw myself onto him, wrapping my arms around his neck just as I had done earlier.
• “Eros!” I bawled. “Don’t you ever say that again! Please, I’m begging you! Promise you’ll never say that to me ever again! It broke my heart! I couldn’t handle it if you did!”
• I knew he was completely and utterly lost, but I didn’t care. This was what I had to say to him. And I meant it. That cold, lifeless face from my dream lurched at my heart. I didn’t want to have to witness it ever again. Now it was time for him to lecture me about making close contact. To my dismay, he didn’t say a word. Instead, I felt his hands sprawl out on my back and make their opposite directions to my side, his nose nuzzle in my hair, all with the same type of affection he had used to caress my cheek at school. One of his hands moved in a comforting circle on my back while he hushed me.
• His sweet candy scent had never been this strong before. Maybe because I’ve never been this close to him in the few weeks he’d been here. My fingers knotted in his hair—there was something different about it. I opened my eyes to see not platinum, but brown curls intertwined with my hands. I reluctantly pulled back to see his face. It was back to normal.
• “Eros?” I said.
• “Hi.” He whispered, his velvety voice still breaking through the undertone.
• “But I thought you were--”
• “No. I changed back to my normal self when you hugged Me.” he cut me off and brushed his thumb across my cheek to catch a falling tear. “I’m not going to ask what happened. Obviously you aren’t in any danger. That’s all I care about.”
• I stared at him confused. Why was he all ooey-gooey now? Had my sudden break down destroyed his tough, interior, barrier?
• “Eros, I--” I started, but he interrupted me yet again.
• “Shh...” he droned. “You need your sleep. You’ve probably weakened from all that crying and screaming.”
• “What? No, I’m not tired. Besides, it’s only....” I kneeled higher to see the clock, “12:45!
• I don’t mind staying up a few more hours.”
• The corners of his mouth twisted up in a broad smile and he kissed me on the forehead. “I’m not asking for you to go to sleep. I’m telling you. I don’t want you to be dozing off during classes tomorrow.” He said, wrapping his arms under my legs and around my back. He lifted me up with ease and set me down on my bed. “Now close your eyes and dream a dream of pure happiness.”  
• “If you want me to be happy, then let me stay up!” I complained when he stroked his hand over my eyes. He smirked again.
• “Goodnight, Jamie. Sleep well.” His voice suddenly came from the door. I could’ve sworn he mumbled something after he said that, but I brushed the thought off and halfheartedly did as he had told me to.
• (*Translation notes: What is wrong? Do you not like who I truly am? Is there something wrong with the way I look?! Is there?! You are afraid of me, Jamie! You yearn for my touch, don’t you!? You don’t want me to leave, right? You impure wh--*)
• (jeez, i love you guys sooooo much!!!! i thought that since JTIAA had ended, no one would like my stories as much anymore. =[. i guess i was proved wrong! Thank you guys! i never thought id be saying this....but.....10 votes for next chapter plz!!!! ^-^~Dott)
