A Touch of Magic (chapt. 6)

Romance Created on 3-10-08 Views(184) Story Rating G

  • A Touch of Magic
  •
  • Chapter 6—
  •
  • I stormed back into my class before anybody suspected anything. On my desk lay 3 sheets of paper. ‘Surveys’ I thought. I was right. It was a bunch of random crap asking about my hobbies, pets, favorite food, color, and movie. Woo...let’s tell the whole class about my life with Eros! (Sarcasm)
  •
  • Hm...Hobbies—practicing magic.
  • Pets—a Pomeranian.
  • Fav. Food—anything Eros  Sean makes.
  • Fav. Color—turquoise blue.
  • Fav. Movie—
  •
  • I paused on the last one, thinking of any movie that associated with Eros.
  •
  • Fav. Movie—Titanic.
  •
  • What could I say? Titanic had Eros written all over it! There were more questions dealing with sports, books, and extra curricular stuff. No, no, and no. Then it said, ‘if not, why?’
  •
  • Maybe because I’m too busy learning magic to be social!
  •
  • That sound about right. I finished the last question in time to hear Mrs. Waxmire’s directions being announced.
  • “Please stand and read your answers to the class.” She ordered.
  • This should be easy! I always loved reading aloud!
  • “Starting with...Jamie Sewerwine?” she raised her eyebrows.
  • “Sauerwine.” I corrected. Bad move. Everybody had been looking for the person with the said name, but now that I’d corrected her, there was no need to continue the search. More like “The Hunt”. I stood up, paper in hand, and opened my mouth to start reading when I noticed one small, but troubling detail: I had written the TRUTH about my life as a dryad instead of normal stuff. Crap...I thought. So many eyes were locked on me, making it awkward on so many levels. Time to improvise.
  • “Hobbies...” I began. “—mountain climbing, mountain diving.” What am I saying?! There’s no mountains in Houston!
  • “Pets—Pomeranian.” At least that part’s true... “Favorite food—Sweets.” Nice editing...”Favorite color—turquoise blue, favorite movie—Titanic.”
  • Uh-oh...I didn’t put anything down for sports, books, or extra stuff! First day of school and I’m a freak already...no, no this time. I cleared my throat so it wouldn’t crack—it does that when I lie—and pressed on.
  • “Sports—volleyball, horseback riding, and dance.” Talk about a weird variety. “Favorite books—Poppy, Smitten, Twilight, New moon, and Eclipse.” Oh gawd I love Edward Cullen!!! I smiled smugly and fixed it before anybody noticed.
  • “Extra stuff.....nope.” I finished. Wow...and that only took half of the class to do! All the students faced forward and I sat down, glad the eyes were no longer concentrating on me. Except one. A boy near the front—three seats to my left and two up—was staring at me with extreme fascination. I did my best to reside the blush across my cheeks, but it deepened every time I curiously looked up. He had sandy blonde hair with warm honey eyes—they had something....mystical about them just like Eros’ did. Like a dark secret meant to be kept to himself. The longer I stared into his topaz eyes, the more I realized that 1. His eyes were like liquid gold. 2. He refused to avert his gaze. 3. Whoever he was....he wasn’t human
  • Luckily, the bell ran sooner than expected and I was off to Math. Joy. For some reason I didn’t want to leave English—that way I could find out more about this “Honey” fellow. Once I got to second period, I was seated next to the window—my favorite spot. The chair next to me screeched as a girl sat there. She had black hair in a pixy cut, caramel eyes, and blue and green guitar earrings dangling past her jaw line. She smiled at me and I smiled back—the only sign of recognition I would receive all year for sure. The class started out OK until Mr. Grey explained what we would be learning this year. Calculus stuck out on the board more than any other words written in chalk. I groaned in distaste. The girl next to me suddenly giggled. I refrained myself from either looking at her or asking her anything. I could already tell Math would be a drag as usual.
  • Next period was Science. I was pretty good at it. Although, my previous teacher practically gave every assignment—late or not—a 100. That could hurt me this year. (I’m a senior) the tables were small rectangles—cold and scribbled on—obviously prepped for lab partners. I purposely put my books in the seat next to me. The last thing I wanted was for my reaction to something exploding to be magic and having it kill somebody. Again, luck was on my side, for everyone saw the blocked chair and guessed it was someone’s belongings, so they passed me up. I sigh in relief. That is, until someone walked through the doors with an embarrassed look on.
  • “Jamie, raise your hand.” Mr. B. directed.
  • “What is this? A retard test--” I paused as the guy sat next to me, eyes golden as well as his hair. He gave me a crooked smile.
  • (Hmm.....who could it be? Eros in disguise? Or Honey boy?!?!?! PLZ VOTE! DONT JUST LEAVE A COMMENT!!!! THANKS!~Dott)
