  • Chapter 3—
  •
  • The sound of something sizzling coaxed me to open my hazel eyes, wincing when the sun’s rays blinded me. It turns out that the piece of cloth he had placed over me last night was one of his button-up shirts. I gripped it so it was covering my shoulders and got up from the couch, a bit groggy, but I managed to make my way down to the kitchen.
  •
  • I glanced at the stove to see bacon cooking and toast in the toaster. But no Eros. Looking behind me, I guessed he was taking a voluntary break from cooking breakfast.
  •
  • “Ahh, good morning, Jamie!” he greeted.
  •
  • I faced forward to find out he had entered the kitchen from the dining room on the other side. He was wearing a long-sleeved, non-collared, white shirt and jeans. His bronze hair was silky as usual and kempt, yet slightly unkempt at the same time. He strode to the stove and took the pan off of it, setting it down on the non-heated side. The whole time I watched him in my typical extreme fascination at how he practically glided throughout the house even though it was quite messy.
  •
  • “How did you sleep?” he asked, popping the toaster’s tab and catching the bread on the awaiting plate.
  •
  • “Well.” I replied, still in a daze. I saw his eyes wander down my body hesitantly before he continued speaking.
  •
  • “I’m glad the sleeping spell worked on you.” He smiled. No, Eros didn’t contain magic. Yes, he could cast a lot spells such as the sleeping spell, awaking spell, and of course, the love spell. I nodded.
  •
  • He set a readied plate on the counter-table for me, once again glimpsing at my lower-half. This time I didn’t think he was trying to make a move on me.
  •
  • “What do you keep looking at?” I barked.
  •
  • “Hm? Oh nothing!” he responded, turning his back on me.
  •
  • “Tell me or I’ll stick one of your arrows up your butt!” (Ha-ha, butt rape!)
  •
  • “Jamie, Jamie, calm down! I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Eros consoled, “And don’t think about touching my arrows. They’re fragile.”
  •
  • “Then tell me!”
  •
  • “Well.” He droned, scratching his temple, “You’re um....not exactly.”
  •
  • “Not exactly what?!”
  •
  • “You’re not exactly wearing pants.” He whispered, a slight hint of amusement seeping into his tone. I looked down to see he was right. All I was wearing were my baby blue underwear that had white flower prints on them. Flushing deeply, I snatched the shirt that was hung over my shoulder so it would hopefully cover my fault. He chuckled at my slowness, turning around to give me the chance to run up to my room.
  •
  • I slammed the door shut, mentally screaming in my head. That was the closest a guy has ever seen me without my clothes on. And why’d it have to be Eros above all people......ish gods?! Come to think of it—why was I not wearing any pants?—I always wear pants to bed; maybe I got hot last night. I hurriedly slipped on tan Capri’s and a navy blue baby doll shirt. I wasn’t exactly all at ease now that Eros had seen me in my underwear. Who wouldn’t be?
  •
  • The lingering scent of the food only made me tenser—knowing that meant he was still in there waiting for me to join him at breakfast. That’s when I remembered that today I was going to tell Eros I was no longer going to school, that way I could focus on what was important: magic. All I wanted, more than anything, was to prove to Eros that I wasn’t some weakling.
  •
  • I sat across from him at the table. Although he seemed to have completely forgotten what had happened a few minutes earlier, he still kept his eyes on my figure as if I was bound to dock a gun to his face at any moment. My fork clinked against the porcelain plate, my eyes glimpsing at his face every few seconds, wondering if he was still staring at me. A slight frown spread across his lips, and his shoes shuffled on the wood floor.
  •
  • “What do you want, Eros?” I whined, tossing my fork down onto the table.
  •
  • “Nothing.” He said, at last taking his eyes off me. “You just seem......nervous about something, so I was trying to read your mind.”
  •
  • “Read my mind?” I asked, cocking an eyebrow.
  •
  • “Yea.”
  •
  • “I didn’t know you could to that....” I mumbled, feeling curious as to if he found anything worth mentioning.
