• Chapter 27—

• Due to the previous fight, the night ended in awkwardness with few, if any, words spoken. Suzette was the one who drove Cyril home while he rested his now sore wrist. He could tell he was in for it when they got to the hotel.

• “You have a lot of explaining to do.” She said throwing her keys onto the bed.
•  
• See? I told you...
•  
• “Look, Suzette, I’m sorry, but none of what happened tonight was my fault.” Cyril denied getting an ice pack for his wrist.
•  
• “I’m not talking about the fight, Cyril!”
•  
• “Then what are you talking about?!”
•  
• She held the box of cigarettes up with a hurt expression splashed across her face. He glanced between her and the box, thinking: how’d she get those?
•  
• “I found these in your coat pocket...” she mourned. “When were you going to tell me?”
•  
• “Shit....” he whispered to himself. He shut the freezer door and walked up to her as close as she would let him get.
•  
• “You don’t have an explanation, do you?” she asked, getting pissed off.
•  
• “I don’t think you should be snooping around in other people’s stuff.” He muttered.
•  
• “Snooping arou--?! I wasn’t snooping around! It was practically out in the open!” she hollered, her face turning red.

• Cyril hated it when she got mad because she wasn’t the one who backed down, he was. Kinda embarrassing for a guy, no?

• Sighing, he sat down at the wine bar and said, “What do you want me to do?”
•  
• “I want you to quit smoking obviously!” she hissed.
•  
• “Ok. Anything else?” he replied with a hint of sarcasm.
•  
• “Of course there’s something else.” She fumed chunking the box at him. “I want you to stop being a fucking jackass.”
•  
• He watched her slam their room door behind her, guessing he wasn’t going to be sleeping in there anytime soon. Flexing his wounded wrist, he winced and muttered something about wanting to kill ‘that Jake’. It was all his fault in the first place. If he hadn’t showed up at the restaurant and had stayed away like he told him to, none of this would’ve happened! He could feel his hatred for that bastard surging through his veins even though his hand was numb. Only two days remained until his wedding and he wouldn’t allow for anything to get in his way. Suzette was going to be Mrs. Claiborne no matter what...
