Amy’s parents came home to a house in ruins. Vases broken, mirrors smashed, couches over turned. They thought there had been a robbery at first, but it turned out to be something much worse, their only daughter had gone insane. They found her in the upstairs bathroom, cornering a fly in the tub.

 “Honey, what’s going on?” Her mother asked, with a face full of worry.

“Oh, we just have a little fly problem mom,” Amy replied, and then let out a high-pitched giggle.

“Amy, please explain all this craziness,” her father pleaded, anxiety crawling up his neck.

“Oh, it’s not crazy, it’s just annoying.” Amy responded. “But I’ll explain it for you benefit.” And she did, she explained everything, starting with the mall, leaving her parents even more worried than before.

“So you see, I’ve really got to kill this fly!” She concluded, and tried to hit the fly. She missed, of course, and the fly flew away. Amy scurried after the fly, nearly knocking her astonished parents over. Amy continued running after the fly, with her parents running after her, trying to get her to stop.

 After about a half an hour Amy’s parents gave up and had a brief chat about what they should do. They had never been good with conflict, whenever Amy started fighting with them, they’d just walk away. They never wanted to fight, they didn’t know how to deal with difficulty, they always chose the path of least resistance. They spent a couple minutes flipping through the phone book and called a number. They had made their decision.
