"Alona, darling, you should get dressed. You're meeting with King Aleron in about an hour." Came a voice from the doorway.
The queen looked at her servant and dear friend, Raine, and forced a weak smile. That name, Aleron, always gave her butterflies in her stomach, and she could never tell why. "Thank you, Raine dear. I'll be down shortly." Raine nodded and left Queen Alona in peace.
Alona's Queendom was really quite stunning. It was peaceful, and beautiful forests covered every rising hill, every empty field, every grassy knoll. The waters were crystal clear, the skys were blue, and the grass was thick and soft wherever you were to roam. Small, tight-knit villiages were scattered about the land, all rather peaceful, but all with Villiage Idiots as well. The Queendom of Coolcamels was simply thriving under her rule.
Queen Alona stared out her window, taking in the beauty of the land as she combed her beautiful, dark brown hair, taking great care with each stroke. Honestly, she was not in a tizzy over seeing the King. All it would do was surface the feelings she tried so hard to reject.
Afer several minutes, her hair was combed and she was dressed. Nothing fancy, just a loose fitting gown of white Egyptian cotton, with black hemming and short sleeves. Her hair cascaded over her shoulders and stopped at her mid-back, swaying and twirling in the breeze. She looked as though she was an angel and had whisked to earth to brighten the lives of those around her. After one long last look over her Queendom, Alona closed her window and emerged from her room, into the sitting room where she and the King were to meet.

"Aleron, come on! You're gonna be late!" Kielantra nearly pulled the king out the door. "Honestly, I'm your younger sister, I shouldn't have to help you keep your appointments." She grinned at him as he loaded himself into the carriage.
"Yes, well.. I don't understand why she couldn't come here." Aleron sulked inside the carriage as the horses began to trod down the path to the Queen's castle. Kielantra sighed and rolled her eyes. Why was her brother always so difficult?
"She's a lady, Aleron, she shouldn't have to come here. The polite thing is to go see her... which you're doing whether you like it or not."
King Aleron looked out the window as they passed through his Kingdom. Several of the more friendly villiagers stopped their work and waved hello, whilst others simply turned their backs and continued with their work. The houses were of the best quality, as was everything else in the Kingdom. As up to date as possible, just as Aleron liked it. There were fewer forests than in the Queendom of Coolcamels, but the landscape was still spectacular. Llamas roamed the hills, grazing the plush green grass, and birds twittered songs in a sky of baby blue. Waves crashed into cliffs on the shorelines of the ocean. Yes, while not as focused on nature, the Kingdom of Dexelonia was also alive and well.
His stomach tied in knots as Queen Alona's castle came into view. Kielantra chattered away, but Aleron had no idea what she was saying. He suddenly felt queasy as nerves took over him. 'What am I doing here?' He asked himself as the carriage pulled to a stop.
~*~*~*~
"King Aleron and Lady Kielantra have arrived, your majesty." Raine announced just as the visitors entered the room. Queen Alona rose polietly to greet them, but nearly stumbled on seeing Aleron. She felt as if his brilliant, sexy blue eyes were looking right into her soul, and it had a staggering affect on her. She bowed her head politely and returned to her seat, Kielantra and King Aleron just across the table from herself. "Would anyone like some tea?" asked Raine. Alona nodded and Raine scurried off to the kitchen.
An akward silenct fell over the group like a thick blanket. It choked the air, leaving the room gasping for communication. Kielantra was the first to give relief. "So, Queen Alona, how have you been? It's been ages since we last saw each other."
"I'm very well, thank you." She said quietly, masking the nerves in her voice with a cool smile. "Now tell me, why is it that you've come to visit?" Her eyes darted to Aleron before returning to Kielantra. "Not that I mind." she added quickly.
"We've come to make an offer, a small one, but an offer none-the-less. As you know, your land is simply amazing, ideal for alpaca raising. I would very much like to use a bit of it for an alpaca farm. Of course, you could get a cut of the profits for the coats we sell." King Aleron finally spoke. His voice had Alona in a trance, but it was broken as soon as the sound stopped.
She considered the offer, looking form Aleron to Kielantra and back again. "I don't see what it could hurt." She said finally with a loving smile. A smile that nearly melten Aleron. "What land had you intended on using?"
"Just a small bit right on the border of your land." Kielantra chimed in. "You won't even know the farm is there."
Queen Alona nodded her approval, just as Raine returned with tea and scones. Raine sent Alona a knowing wink as she set the tray on the table, making her flush. "Anything else I can get for you, ma'am?" Alona shook her head and Raine left the trio in peace once more.
Business being settled, the group drank their tea and chatted, most of the talking done by Kielantra. Hours passed before Aleron and his sister rose to make the journey home. Queen Alona escorted them to the door of the castle and sent a dazzling smile. "Please come again soon." she said quietly.
"Don't worry, we will." Kielantra said and headed out the door to the carriage. Aleron lingered another moment.
"It was lovely to see you again, Alona." He said, charm ringing in his voice. In a swift, gentleman-like move, Aleron kissed the top of Alona's hand, and sent her a sexy smile. In an instant, the king was in the carriage moving down the path towards Dexelonia.
~*~*~*~
When Queen Alona closed the door and turned around, she was suprised to see Raine standing there, hand on hip, smirk on face. Alona blushed and turned her head to conceal her own smile. "Yes, Raine?"
"I knew it.."
"Knew what?"
"You like him. A lot, apparantly."
"Raine, that's absurd! I hardly know him. I'm innocent!"
Raine raised her eyebrow, cleared her throat, and turned to walk away. "Whatever you say, your majesty." she said as she started her way down the hall, shaking her head and laughing to herself.
~*~*~*~
King Aleron sat upright and mute in the carriage. The image of Alona was printed in his mind. Everything about her was simply indescribable. Her beauty, her caring and compassionate nature, her amazing sense of humor.. everything. He felt a loss as they rode away from her, back into his lands.
Sunset was burning the atmosphere, raging over the trees and casting eerie pink and purple lights to fill the skys that were once a bright blue. Aleron imagined himself sharing this sunset with Alona, rather that his sister.
"Just tell her, Aleron." Kielantra broke the silence.
"Tell who what?"
"You know who, you you know what."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Kielantra sighed. "Deny it all you want, you can't hide the truth for long."
~*~*~*~
Almost two weeks later. The farm had been built, alpacas moved in. Alona's heart ached. She had not seen Aleron since the night she granted the farm to be built. She feared she would not see him again, either.
The early morning sunlight shining through her window woke her, throwing her into the blinding light of the real world. She shielded her eyes and stumbled out of bed, racing to get dressed. Her heart told her to go to him. Her mind told her not to. Who would be the voice of reason? Simple black slacks and a white tunic was what the queen wore today. But she somehow made the outfit stunning. After a quick look in the mirror, she ran off to find Raine to help sort out her internal struggles.
~*~*~*~
Raine stood in the kitchen over the stove. Eggs were in the griddle, and french toast was sizzling in the skillet beside them. Muffins were rising in the oven. She had just sat down when Queen Alona rushed into the kitchen. "Raine.. I need your help."
"Yes your majesty?" Raine inquiered politely.
"The farm's open now.. and Aleron hasn't contacted me about it. Should I go and see him or stay here?"
Raine smirked. "You know what you want me to say, and you know what I'm going to say. Go see him. Maybe tell him how you feel and get the whole issue off your chest."
"Tell him how I feel? I have no idea what you're talking about."
"Whatever you say, your majesty. But you aren't going anywhere on an empty stomach. Breakfast will be done shortly." Raine said, smirking and speaking in a tone that clearly said she did not believe Alona.
"I'm innocent, Raine! I have no idea what you're talking about!" At that, Queen Alona rushed from the room, but not before her servant got a good look at the blush covering her cheeks.
"She's about as innocent as a knife to a bagle." Raine said to herself as she fixed breakfast onto plates. One for herself and one for her majesty.
Over breakfast, neither of them spoke much. Alona stared at her plate, and Raine cast her knowing glances across the grand table. After several minutes of silence, Raine finally spoke. "So what are you gonna say to him?"
Without thinking, Alona sighed and said, "I'll tell him hiw adorable he is. How much he stands out from all the other guys. I'll tell him hw he makes me laugh. And hiw my heart aches for him." Suddenly, she realised what she was saying and turned a bright crimson color. Raine stifled a laugh as the Queen tried to disappear under the table. "If you tell ANYONE about what you just heard, you'll be out of a job faster than I turned red!"
Raine smiled and cleared their plates from the table. "As you wish, your majesty."
~*~*~*~
Aleron woke to his sister hammering on his door, shouting for him. "Wake up King Sleep-all-day! You've got a visitor! I suggest you get dressed."
Aleron grumbled a response and grudgingly slithered out of bed, throwing on lose fitting pants and a lose tunic. He didn't worry about his hair, he figured it was just another peasant come to see him. After rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Aleron exited his room and walked towards the staircase to the main hall.
"He'll be down in a minute." Kielantra told Queen Alona as she lead her to a large, plush sofa. "How are you feeling today your majesty? You look a bit pale."
"I'm fine, really." Alona lied. Her stomach felt like it had grown wings and flown out her throat, and she felt as if she were about to fall at any moment. "You didn't have to wake him, you know. I could have come at a more convienant hour."
"Don't worry about it. I was about to drag him outta bed by his ears anyway." Kielantra laughed. He knew hs brother would be shocked to see Queen Alona. She was not announced, and she was sure he took no precautions with his wardrobe like he had the other night. Alona was getting Aleron, as he really was.
"He'll be here soon. I have some business to attend to. You two kids have fun." Kielantra winked and left the room.
Alona suddenly felt like she was going to throw up. She thought she would have Kailantra there to makes things less akward. "I knew coming here was a mistake." She whispered to herself, voice shaken and jittery.
She heard singing at the doorway and stood instantly. The voice of an Angel she thought to herself. She saw him before he looked into the room. He was simply beautiful. His shirt was hanging from his shoulders, his hair was toussled. He was the image of perfection. Alona's knees quivered.
~*~*~*~
Aleron looked up, shocked to see Queen Alona standing in front of him. He leapt backwards, a look of utter bewilderment on his face. Thinking of his wardrobe, he thought of rushing to change, but a nervous voice stopped him.
"Hello Aleron." She had spoken. Aleron froze and looked her over.
"Hello Alona. Might I inquire as to why you hae come to see me?"
"I.. um.. Well... I just.." she stuttered, unable to hide the nerves that fluttered her around like crazy.
"Please, sit down." He said, finally entering the room. Alona sat quickly, anxious to get off her shaky legs. "Can I get you anything to drink?"
"No, thank you." Alona shook her head. "I.. I wanted to tell you something.."
"Yes?"
"I... Um..."
"Before you say anything Alona, can I tell you something?"
"Of course." Alona was greatful for the inturruption. It gave her time to gather her thoughts and her nerves.
"Alona, I think I'm in love with you. I understand if you think I'm being forward, and wouldn't blame you if you were to get up right now and walk away. I--"
"Aleron?" Alona stopped his rambleing. "You shouldn't have held back that you care for me. You might be suprised to find out that I feel the same way too. I know you're someone who would keep his promises to me. I love you, Aleron."
The king was speechless. His mind was reeling. She loved him? She felt the same? If this was a dream, he did NOT want to wake up. His hand found hers. His mind connected with her soul. They were one. A couple in love that could not be divided. They would not fall like so many before them had.
Aleron stood, pulling Alona to her feet. His embrace was soft, his lips gentle when they met hers. In that instant, she knew this was a man she could spend her life with.
In the hall outside the room, Kielantra wept tears of joy.
~*~*~*~
Many years passed. Aleron and Alona combined their lands, and renamed the kindgon Joint Operation. They had six children, four girls and two boys. On their castle, they had their own personal llama and alpaca breeding grounds, and Alona became an expert at harvesting and knitting alpaca wool. They spent their lives together, two lovers who would give teh world just so the other wouldn't have to shed a single tear. They raised their children together, teaching them the right from wrong and telling them stories of true love. To this day, you can still see Aleron and Alona's idea of "Alpaca farming" scattered around the world.
