“Beep… Beep… Beep. ” I looked at Jake. “Beep. Beep. Beep.”

“This could be bad.” He said

“Tell me about it.” I started running down the hall and my brother followed his jet black hair flying and his piercing blue eyes blazing.

“What do you think got in now?”

“How my supposed to know you’re the one with the gadgets.”

“I’ve showed you what they do.”

“You actually think I listen to that?” He paused

“… Yes …” The beeping got louder and faster and finally it was beeping ear splitting loud and so fast I couldn’t even beep along with it. “In here.” He said stopping in front of a shimmering white door made of ice. There was a plate to the right of it that said ‘0798643’. Jake scrolled his keypad.

“Let’s see this dorm belongs to Jessie Anderson, age 18, ice power. She been here since she was 7. She has no family.”

“I could have guessed she was ice power from the door. Just because you have a keypad doesn’t mean I couldn’t have guessed that.”

“You have a keypad you just never use it.”

“Whatever, you’re just jealous because you’re a freak and I’m not.”

I’m the freak? Look who’s talking.”

“So what I can breathe underwater a little longer then you.”

“You grow fins and gills!”

“Whatever, I bet you ten bucks I’ll be the one who’ll kill it this time.”

“You’re so on!” I laughed and kicked open the door. I stepped into the room with Jake right behind me. I looked to the left and right side of the room, my hands creeping to my blades on my back. The room was empty but huge. It looked like two rooms put together. There wasn’t any furniture anywhere and the walls and floor were made of steel. There were huge scratch marks everywhere.

“This place is creepy. Luckily Jamie wasn’t in here when this thing came in here.”

“Yup.” I listened hard but all I could hear was Jakes machine beeping. I looked at him. “Will you turn that thing off a ca- Holy!” A big gray wolf-like creature had flown out of a corner of the room at Jake. He had collapsed and it was hitting his shoulders. The familiar smell of blood came over the room as I pulled my blades out. The familiar glow filled the room. I jabbed one of my blades into its right shoulder and the other onto its left leg. Then I lifted it up over my head and hit it against the nearest wall. I pulled my blades out of it. By now my black hair was sprawled across my face damp with sweat. Then the wolf thing got back up and leaped at me. It cut my face with its paw and I felt blood run down my face. At that very second Jessie walked into the room. She started running towards the wolf thing.

“Jake!” I shouted and he limped up and stopped her. I jabbed my swords into the things stomach and flung it across the room.

“Are you crazy?” Jake asked her. By now she was crying.

“You d- d- don’t understand.” She said between sobs. The wolf thing hadn’t stood back up yet so I walked over to Jake and the girl named Jessie.

“What don’t we understand?” I asked her.

“Th- that’s my br-brother.”

“How can that,” Jake started but then a white light washed over the wolf a boy about 16, my age, materialized. I brushed my hair out of my face and walked closer to him. He was unconscious, barely breathing, and were I had jabbed my swords into him there were large wounds.

“NO, CHRIS!” she ran up to the boy and turned him over so he was on his back. His skin was abnormally pale and his eyes were closed. His hair was tattered with sweat and blood and he was breathing so little it was scary. I heard Jake grunt and looked over to see him trying to get up. I walked over to him and put his uninjured arm and we limped over to where Jessie and the boy was. He sat down against the wall with a thud and I looked at his shoulder. There were seven long scratches. I looked in a little pocket in my tool belt next to my plasma gun and found a potion Jake had invented for if I ever hurt myself.

“Here”  I handed him the potion and he drank a little. His arm instantly healed so I put the potion back in my pocket.

“What the heck? You can go and seriously hurt my brother and you can’t give him any of that?”

Think about what you’re saying before you say it. You’re brother hurt my brother. And who said I wasn’t going to give him some huh? Don’t just go straight to accusations.” I rolled my eyes.

“Wait, you really were going to help him?”

“Yeah why wouldn’t I? I wouldn’t practically kill someone and not fix it.” Jeez she’s annoying. I pulled an unused potion out of my pocket.

“Here give him this.” I handed it to her and she poured some into her brothers mouth.

“Thanks.” She said and she held out the potion.

“You keep it.” I said pushing it towards her.

“Thanks.” She looked at her brother and I did too. I could see his wounds healing and his eyes flew open reveling big chocolate brown eyes. He looked at his sister then at me and Jake. He sat up so fast Jessie had to jump out of the way so he wouldn’t hit her.

“Who are you?” His voice was childish but was slightly. He looked at Jessie then at me again.

“Answer my question! Who are you and what are you doing here?” I stood up and rolled my eyes.

“I’m Kit and I don’t know if you want to hear this but we work here and we were kind of sent here to kill you.”
