The pure emerald of his eyes stayed focus upon my face. I could feel the chilling ice from my aqua eyes chilling my spine and outwards into a freezing frost. Only his eyes shown bright to me and everything else blurred. His hair was a slight brown color, but that’s all I could tell. There were shaking pieces of red about him, but maybe it was a trick of the Hellish red sky that focused itself around us. It was beautifully clear to me.
He himself would not stop being blurred which began to hurt my eyes as a pain from my head began to rush in. I noticed the image began to clear, but his face was concealed by a black doctor’s mask. It was then when my eyes diverted to the sky that he disappeared again from me.
The blackness came over me as the light flooded my eyes. It was just like every night. I would come so close to seeing him and then mask would appear and I would be faded back to the real world. It was an annoyance to me. I saw the somewhat bright sky come into my eyes. It was pleasing than the painful bright sun. My eyes had always been sensitive since I was first born. It was a weakness of mine. I had to wear a pair new specialty made contacts with UV protection for the irises. I needed anyways for my bad eyesight. The pupil itself was the only sensitive part. Not many know about this except my only living relative. My brother Artemis. He is a kind person, and rarely gets mad, which is a little scary at times. His silence is a enough to drive anyone mad, but it is nice that he is careful not to wake me when I sleep. Recently I have had a bad case of insomnia. I am not sure as of to why I have it, but I do. It is probably because I am starting school soon. An arts school actually. It is an excellent University, even though no one knows of it. The letter had came into the mail a few weeks ago. I had asked my art teacher about it and he almost fainted.
“This is one of the most prestigious University’s you could ever go to. They only allow a few 50 students in every year! Even I couldn’t make it in there. This is amazing Lillith!”
Amazing? And everyone knows about it, except myself, lucky me.
I carried my self quite clumsily as I awoke from my small room. It was a nice room. I had a queen sized bed decorated with neon blues and purples, and a desk with a computer off to the side with about two feet between them and on the opposite side of the bed was about five feet then my closet and bathroom, then at the other wall across from my bed was the door and the two windows by each side of the bed and a small wide window above it with neon blue curtains. My feet carried me to my closet as I inspected what I could wear for the day. My wardrobe was anything but normal. I was stereotyped as an industrialist. Not something I see, but it’s due to my techno and cartoon influence. I would wear what people call falls. Falls are hair extensions that are dreaded synthetic hair that can be very pretty. They can be twisted, straighten, or curled and can have other colorful accessories with them. Plastic tubes, yarn, ribbon, anything in odd colors or natural colors. Yeah, yeah I know you are thinking what a stupid flashy person. I only wear these to concerts or music shows, my normal hair is… well partially normal. It is black but a maroon-like black. My tips are of a red color. It’s a natural color of mine, but I can not say that my brother’s hair is any weirder. We both had strange genes in our family.
I am one to dress semi-normally when I go out in public or am at home. I am not one to be to flashy with what I wear, unless again I went to a music show or something of the sort. I had a thing for wearing odd things. Today I pulled out a normal graphic black tank top with a blue plaid skirt and a pair of striped stockings. I wore a pair of black boots with some straps on them that went a bit below my calf muscle. I had an O-ring belt on that laid above the skirt for looks. I loved the belt after my brother had boughten it for me on my eighteenth birthday a few months before. I quickly put on a black jacket with a few graphics about it. It had a nice lace trimming and a corset design on the back.
If you can not tell yet… I am not a normal person or a bad person. At heart I try to be good, but I have a reputation with everyone that is about to disappear soon. I am what ones call not to nicely orientated, a brutal truth teller. Plainly I am a bitch. It is not the nicest thing to say but as it comes down it shines to me to be the real truth in my eyes. I have high standards than most girls and can be picky with many foods, unless sit comes down to food and drinks. I take it as it comes, but will hoard mass amounts of sweets if near by. Sweets are the one thing that must be at all times hidden from me or else within a day they disappear from all of existence into my full belly.
I decide to make my way to the bathroom to splash a bit of water on my face and to add some make up to my stone pale face. I messed my bangs up a little to get them to dry. They faded off to my right side a bit. My figure is small, which makes me look like a child at times, but my curves are nicely present along with my average bosom of an un-hassale-like size. As I splashed the water onto my face it feels quite soothingly cold. The same I felt when my eyes were chilling me in my dream. I though of the boy’s eyes as I dried my face and placed a thin coat of powder over my face then placed a color of neon blue eye shadow that sparkled with a diamond touch over my eyes, then lastly my mascara to bring out my powdered eyelashes from earlier. My eyelashes were also a bit longer than a normal persons’ which I quite liked. My face looked like china doll’s as many have said. I have yet to see the beauty in it. All I see is my dead looking face with fading dark circles under them and even more paling skin. I could have sworn I would have glowed if I went under a black light.
I turned from the mirror after I finished and picked up my side pack with a few of my life’s most needed accessories: Music and video player
Mechanical pencils
Sketchbook
Colored pencils
Cell phone
Composition notebook
Brass knuckles
Switchblade
And mostly always… Candy.
It is a nice black side back with many patches and buttons with other odd things upon it, as it had many zipper pockets and a corset design on it. I quite love it. But just don’t call it a purse. Reason being is because purses are puny compare to this, which has been threw a lot with me. It is worn a bit but I love it.
Once I had gotten my bag and checked to make sure all of my necessities were present I made my way out to the small hall past an open door that seemed a bit more tidy than my room and into a living room and kitchen. I lived in an apartment with my brother. The living room was twice the size of my room and the kitchen being the same size as my room. It was of a perfect size for us.
“Oh I see that you’re up Lillith. Did you sleep well or are you still having problems?” He looked at me with a slight sad face as his bright blue eyes watched me behind his black glasses once he looked up from his book as he sat upon the dark red couch. The television was on but was playing music from a music channel.
“A bit better, but again I had that dream… It’s annoying me.” I sat next to him with a sigh. I had only had about six hours of sleep and my fuel was running low. I felt exhausted.
“Odd. I wonder what it means… Well you at least got some sleep… Maybe you should take your sleeping pills again?” He looked back at his book as he sat slouched on the couch with his back to the arm rest and his legs crossed. He wore a normal blue graphic shirt with a pair of of dark blue jean pants and a triple studded belt. His choppy white hair was pulled back into a low spiky ponytail with the front layers hanging down by his face. There were a few hints of black streaks in his hair he had out of my deadly boredom. It looked nice on him though, because most of the streaks blended in lightly, but somehow did not look a bit like grey at all. His hair was layered all over, but a little bit was able to be placed up into a ponytail. The sides of his hair was longer, but but bangs were layers, along with the rest of his choppy hair. Even if he is my brother, he is still very beautiful to me.
“I don’t like them…” I quietly protested. “They make be become boring and unsocial like you are.” A slight sigh had escaped my mouth as I rested my head back.
“I am not boring and unsocial. I just prefer the silence. It’s nice on my ears.” I watched him as he seemed to keep on reading.
That was the thing we both had our weaknesses. His ears were sensitive to noises while my eyes were sensitive to light. He also has a sensitive nose. Sadly I only had one sensitive sense. The nice thing about it is to see my way threw the dark, the downfall is that it is mostly the reason why I can not sleep.
“I am going out today to walk about. I’ve been pretty bored staying here without being near people. I think I might observe today. Watching people socialize seem to keep me in a better mood.” I stood up and watched as his eyes looked straight into mine.
“Be careful… I am serious. There was a report of a murder last night.” His tone was a bit worried, but he spoke up again. “You have those things with you right?” He eyed me curiously. He was a caring brother, but to caring when he knew what was happening with the crimes of the city. He was what one calls a junior detective. They loved him for his high intelligence and his great problem solving ability, and could easily spot certain clues from great distances. I was highly jealous of him for being this amazing, but it does help give him a great set future, as long as hi nose and ears do not get destroyed.
“My switchblade and brass knuckles?” I slight sheepish smile crossed my face. He as anyone knew that those were two illegal items I carried around. He shrugged with a sigh at me.
“Just don’t get caught again with them. I hate bailing you out…” He looked back down at his book. “See you later. Be home before dark, got it?”
“Oh calm down I will, so don’t worry. See you later.” I smiled at him as I made my way to the main door of the apartment and into the hall. It was a nice place. A hotel actually. It was quite tall and reached to around fifty stories with us leaving near the top stories with the nicer rooms. The hotel was dressed in the elegant red and golden tones. It was definitely a four and a half star hotel. The staff were a bit stingy, but the owner and managers were quite nice.
I decided to be lazy for a bit since I would be walked a lot to day anyways, and took the elevator. They were a bit creepy, not due to the claustrophobic idea of it but more of the noises and the feelings of falling. I was a bit use to it, but not fully. It took about a minute for it to reach the bottom floor of the lobby. I waved to a few of the nicer ones on the staff and made my way outside into the city.
It was a medium sized city, but it was an international city, with it split off into different parts of different countries, to where they made little versions of their own cities. It was a nice mix of ethnicity, religion, culture and obviously sex. I use to go to the international school here. Most of the students came form everywhere around the world and spoke English, with a second language, or multiples. My brother knows almost all of the countries languages around the area, even latin and greek. I only so far know my native tongue of English and a bit of Japanese and Spanish, with some latin and greek off of the side fro my brother’s teaching. I had two friends who knew the other languages. One lived in Japan since they were young, but is British like me while my other friend was from Spain and know the elegant form of Spanish as she knows it. She has pure Spaniard blood.
Our city was famous for it’s scholars, inventions, art, designs, and so on. We are a city who excels, but most of us are just rich spoiled children of ambassadors, mayors, presidents, large corporation owners, and so on. Anyone who was rich and wanted their child to be trained to carry on next in line to them came here. I am however different. I have no parents. Only their reputation lives with me and everyone else around here who actually knew them.
I myself do not know to much about my parents. I was young when they died, about five at the time and my brother was ten at the time. He knew that they were known by many. It was only after I finished elementary school that we were called to live here. A strange man as I remember came to us and seemed a bit shock of how we lived. My brother and I were lived in a normal house house that was much to big for only the two of us. We were living due to my brother’s intelligence, and our parents’ savings that were stashed in the house along with their friends offerings. The man told us a bit about our parents and how we were required to start at this new school over here. It was strange for me since I had to say goodbye to all my friends, but also exciting. My brother disliked it because he still had a few years of high school left, but decided to go after the man talked of the schooling. My brother loved challenges to he automatically agreed and said it would be nice to be in a smaller less unoccupied place. We got the house sold and that summer we came here to Tokyo. We moved from a small town by London. I quite liked Tokyo. It is a nicer more modern city. The school owns about two and a half square miles for the campus. This included the pre-school, elementary, high school, and their college which only the most elite of the high school can get into, other than that everyone else has a nice shot even if your at the bottom of the list to get into a good collage or university.
I do know my parents met at the high school here, but was told the headmaster at this university we a good friend of my father’s long ago, so I assume my father went here, but still I have no idea about the jobs my parents had and such. If I asked my brother he just gave me a weird look and went to his book. I would walk away till one day my anger arose and I began to argue with him. I had never heard him yell so loud in his life at me. Ever since then I have kept my mouth shut about the whole topic all together. But going to this university I can get some answers from the headmasters, even look threw the old files on my father at least and maybe my mother if possible.
The weather began to get cloudy as I watched a thunder cloud make it’s way towards my direction. Rain was a definite in today’s forecast. My feet carried me along the green streets till I came to an outside mall with shaded arches about the place. I loved this city quite a bit. It was lush in greenery and not covered in ugly boring concrete and stoned streets. There is purposely green everywhere to keep us looking nicer than anyone else. I could have sworn everyone here had some slight Obsessive Compulsive Disorder within them.
I was lucky today. It was not to packed anywhere but there were still people busy shopping. There were many people who were not from the school or residents in this area who came by here all the time. We ourselves were an unregistered tourist attraction. I felt like a person on display when someone was stupid enough to ask if I lived here or went to the school around here. What pisses me off the most most is when they ask me if I know where the middle school is. I am short. I barely skim past five feet and my small figure gives me no help, only my chest seems to help people realize I might be a high schooler or an early developing middle schoolers. Morons.
A slight grumble of my stomach told me I needed food. I had not eaten breakfast so with a slight shrug I went to the nearest cafe. There were a few people here who seemed lost enough in their conversation to pay any attention to me. They looked like girls from my school. The stuck up I hated. These were part of the group who had gotten in only by their parents’ power and money. Sickening, because they had nothing going for them except their partying ways, and I do not mean club dancing either.
I made my way to the cash register and ordered a slice of red velvet cake and a slice of freshly made tiramisu with a side of iced chocolate mocha coffee. A perfect breakfast in my opinion. I handed him my card that my brother gives to me each month with only a limit of $400. I mostly used it for food like this when I am out and art supplies, with some clothes, or fabric when I am out. I like to buy groceries when I got out from a surprise dinner. I usually get my brother’s good side if I find a good recipe and bring him the ingredients. He is a fabulous cook and writer. But the extra scrolls over into an unused saving accounts for emergencies. I usually have a bit left if I have not been to active then. I still now have about $350 left from last week’s dinner and supplies. Today was clothe shopping day. I have not boughten some new clothes for a few months after playing with my sewing machine which keeps me entertained.
After paying for the food I made my way towards a table by the back where a window was by. My eyes wandered outside as I examined people while slowly eating my cakes to savor their sweet flavor in my mouth. The coffee and both the cakes were delicious. This cafe was know for it’s amazing threats and coffee. Better than those other renowned places I must say that seem to burn their coffee. While I finished the last pieces of my cakes and began to sip more on my coffee I noticed the two girls from earlier approaching me.
“Om my gosh! Like aren’t you Lillith Nightshade? The one who got into Hollow Trinity University?” The blonde girl spoke in her rude stereotypical american valley girl voice. Her pitch was high and almost made my ears bleed at the sound. She was pretty, a bit to tanned, and needed new vocals cords with an attitude tune up.
“Yes… I am.” I looked at her oddly as I watched her scowl with a spark of envy and hatred in her eyes.
“Go somewhere else.” The light haired brunette with short hair spoke beside her in an American accent but was more refined. She was a bit pale, but a bit prettier than the fake blonde.
“Why Is that? I like it here. If I deny them then I’ll have to go to an American college overseas.” I tilted my head back in curiosity as I began to become interested in what they may want.
“Thanks to you I like can’t even get close to getting in. They like denied me so I want you to switch places with me, so I can go here. It’ll help my daddy’s publicity and my image. I can like totally get with that hot guy Damien too… Care to help a fellow girl out? I’ll pay you to of course.” The blonde spoke with a sinister grin on her face. That is how people ran around here, well the students of my age. It was publicity that they wanted. Again as I said before I am not a normal person.
A slight grin appeared before my face as I began to nod up and down and once I saw her face light up I answered.
“You must be an idiot to think I’ll be that low to follow into your level. It’s not my fault you’re stupid.
” My smile stayed as a slight chuckled escaped my lips. I watched as her anger rose. An unwise immature thing to do as I saw it.
“You think your so fucking cool! Well you’re not. You’re like a pathetic loner who will never have a life. You’re like so fucking pathetic and low just like you’re parents. You’ll end up dying so why not like just give me the position?” She growled at me with a wicked smile upon her face. I could feel the eyes staring at us in the back.
“I see…” I grinned at her as my eyes glared at her hungrily as I readied my fist. “Anymore words till I fuck up your face?”
“Figures you’d try and do something like that. You’re also a barbarian you won’t hit me in the fa- OOMF!” I had had enough of her talking. I planted my fist directly into her stomach. She fell to the floor clenching around her waist as if she felt the pain of her insides coming out from the intense pain that plagued her. Her friend stood horrified by what had happen.
“You were right. I don’t punch in the face, because that’s cruel. I’d rather make you feel even more pain before you pass out. It’s no fun when you pass out instantly from being hit in the face. Also don’t talk about shit you don’t know. You immature bitch. I hate talking when pain can just solve it all. Yes I am ruthless, but only towards the types of people like you. So be more intelligent next time. Till then, I’ll see you around, maybe… ” I grabbed my ice coffee as I walked away from her and out the store.
I am not one to sit back and take words, I sadly act upon actions, for my philosophy is that actions speak better than any words, and that girl I know will not annoy me anytime soon as long as she has the pain in her stomach. At school situations like this had happen, with consequences following, but it was only about once or twice a year this did happen. People heard stories of what I’ve one, even a few of them were twisted to where I’ve almost killed someone. I was know as a crazed wildcat. If an incident did happen I was dismissed from school that day but was able to come back due to my usual attitude, good attendance, and grades. Besides most of the teachers were happy with who I punched that day, most of them were annoyances of some sort or trouble makers. This is the first time I have ever punched a girl like the blonde. She is actually the second girl I punched, the rest were guys who were worst than delinquents, they were players, girl users, assholes, no common sense, devils. Most of them were some friend’s ex-boyfriends who ended up abusing them or using them sexual or for money. They were down on the floor instantly. With them there were no words just my fist hitting into the side of their face. Only guys get the hit to the face. I May be small but my boney hand can hurt you quite a bit especially with my specialty, the palm punch. I punch with my palm so none of my knuckles get broken. There is no counting to how many guys I have hit out of school, but a good hand full each year.
Due to my raging adrenaline. I placed on my ear my large DJ headphones and headed off to a favorite shop of mine that a friend’s mom of mine owned. It was an alternative industrial shop, with stuff shipped from everywhere. Their clothing was mixed and had school uniforms, maid’s outfits, corsets, belted bottoms, accessories. It was far from an erotic shop. Most of the outfits were made to be warn out in public and used as uniforms in the neighboring shops. It was custom in all the stores here to have a designed outfit for both males and females who work there. They could get all of their items here at a bargain price. It was from my friend’s mom that they had to get a design from. So practically she sold her designs to the workers, who with a large discount for their store’s uniform would model their costume. This mall was owned by a relative of my friend’s family, so this whole place was almost family owned, except mostly the shops, only a few family owned.
I loved this shop for it’s unique designs, and also her normal wear, elegant wear, or whatever occasion. It was two stores in one. Uniforms on the right with her other designs on the left. I immediately went to search. I saw vast amounts of bright colors, pastels, rainbows, stripes, plaids, checkers, anything possible that was made for any style or person, but had a unique taste with each piece. With my searching I found a pair of purple plaid pants with a nice wide open bottom like raver’s pants, and had a set of black straps with purple studs along them. They were gorgeous. I quickly tried them on in the back dressing room and was quite happy that they fitted quite nicely. I changed and brought them to the front desk. Kassy, my friend’s mother was at the register looking threw one of her new issues for fashion and what was in this year. When I walked up a smile came to her face as she saw me.
“Ah. Li, how are you today?” She smiled sweetly as she rang up the pants.
“I am very good Kassy, how about you?” I smiled back and with a good mannered toned I greeted her also.
“Very good, but it has been a bit quiet today which Is quite relaxing. Back to school should be starting soon, are you ready for college, yet?”
“I am very excited, especially since Dillan is going to come along also.” Dillan is her daughter. One of my closest friends who will be going to the University for her beautiful designs. They say she will be a young prodigy from design and her mother is honored as her greatest influence.
“I am so happy for you both. I am excited to see what the future holds. Dillan having such talented hands and your great comics and stories. I am also proud of Eria for her artwork. I heard that she’s going to be coming back from Germany a week before school is schedule to start.” A slight sigh escaped her mouth as she paused. “You three will be an amazing trio.”
"I look forward to it. I am sure it will be the most fun yet. Is it true that only about fifty students go to the school each fall?”
“Oh yes. I was not so lucky to get into it, but many of the higher fashion industry names all went there. No matter what you do their, you will surely excel. I’m just happy to still be here to have someone of my blood to go there, and it’s my daughter. I was sure my nephew would get in till he twitched to architecture. He is now making buildings to be used in the film industry. They are very gorgeous.” She began to rant a bit on about people like she normally did. Kassy was a sweet older woman with a very young physique and face. She looked no older than thirty, but was really almost in her forties. She was never one to stress out or feel jealousy and had always praised Dillan since she was younger. She was definitely an angel in disguise of a mere human. Her warming glow and feeling just draw you in till you could not stand to be away. Her aura of happiness made even the gloomiest of people smile no matter what. She was definitely my patron saint.
“So I heard they allowed a few outsiders to join. About five males and two females as I heard.” This definitely caught my attention as I handed her my card. I was lucky to know her daughter so well that I got an amazing discount here. I felt bad about it, but most of my clothes I had were from here. She used the excuse that I was her stores mascot and wondered why I did not try for modeling also for fun. It was one of her old careers she had when she was younger. “They are suppose to be quite intelligence, with their IQs reaching almost the roof… I wonder if any of them are cute and sweet enough for my Dillan..” She went off again. This woman I swore had a bit of ADD present in her. Another sighed escaped her lips as she smiled at me again. “Ah well I hope to see you later. I don’t want you to get stuck here to long listening to my ranting and nonsense talking or else Artemis will think you were kidnapped. Sorry again for it. See you later Li.”
“It’s alright. I’ve gotten a bit use to it. See you later.” With a slight giggled I waved off to her and went off to my walking again. Artemis would not really notice if I was not home till later. I usually stayed out late during the summer. It was only about noon now, so I had the whole day ahead of me. Oh joy… Another day of boredom. I knew Dilllan was around but busy making her clohing and Eria was in Germany study up on some of the Renaissance painters. I to studied a lot myself a lot. I read many different comics from different places that I know the translation of or found translations online. It was relaxing but I got bored after a bit after reading a lot of love stories at the fantasy ones got me worst.I was a love addict… But had not loved anyone for a bit. Not after what had happened between me and my ex who was also my first ever boy friend…
I shook my head slightly to think of something else as I slide my headphone on. Painful memories were the worst to have right now. They made me cry every time and even start to feel sick. Again I let my feet carry me to where ever they pleased to go. I started to end up in a weird part of the mall that was not as nice looking. The shops here were much older and stranger. I have not noticed them till now. I also had no idea where I was, I had zoned out so badly that I did not realize the music made my feet carry me on in a weird path.
One shop caught my attention. It was an antique shop. I’ve been to antique shops but none like this. They had rare gem stone statues, big and small, strange trinkets that looked to be from different Asian, European, and even American items. I saw a few Mayan and Aztec style items. It was a shop of items from around the world. As I looked threw the items I dashed my eyes at the sign nearby which read:
“Oblique’s Antiques” “Choose wisely, Carefully, and safely.”
“‘ Choose wisely, Carefully, and safely.’” I repeated the words. It was weird to her but with a slight shrug she crept slowly into the old shop. The wood creaked a bit under her foot, which sent a bit rise of adrenaline up her spine. She lowered her headphone to her shoulders as she turned off her music. The place was about the same size as three of her bedrooms placed into each other. It was small but everything seemed to fascinate her.
“Can I help you my dear child or are you lost from your father?” A creepy voice came from behind me and with a quick turn of the foot I went pale. An old man with a long white beard and many wrinkles grin graciously to me in a soft manner. He wore and old black and white 1920s suit. He seemed really odd to me, especially how his skin tone was of a grayish peach color, not pale, but it looked like his blood was purely blue that pumped in his veins, maybe even black.
“Excuse me? How old do I look?” I knew exactly that this man was just like everyone else who had no idea what age I was.
“I am sorry. 'Twas a cruel sentence, but I was asking the truth. Do you seek to find your father?” He smiled again in a sweet manner which was creeping me out than ever calming me at all.
“What do you mean by that?” I looked at the man oddly with a lost look of curiosity.
“I mean that their are things in this world which can’t stay dead forever. How young did your father look when he ‘died’?” He looked straight into my eyes with sent a shiver down my spine. His eyes were a sort of red hazel of a terra cotta color. I felt weird around them.
“Yes he was a young looking man, but there was hardly any stress in his life… What are you getting at? Are you trying to say he’s a zombie or some weird freak of nature like that?” I grew a bit aggravated with this man a bit to quickly. The creaking of the door opening then closing shut snapped me to my state of calmness again.
“Grandfather what are you doing?” A man asked from a near by isle. I caught glimpses of his clothes. A red plaid flannel shirt, with a black shirt underneath and a graphic on it, then a pair of blue jeans with a triple studded belt. His face was still hidden.
“You have his eyes. I knew it was you by your actions. You even have his easily agitated anger. I hope to see him again…” The old man smiled again but was looking off to the man which now stood behind me. “Ah… Damien you’re here a bit late today. I guess the rain kept you?”
“Nah. It wasn’t that. I just kind of missed the bus so I had to run here.” The man spoke in a familiar accent. It was of an Irish and British mixed, but not as fancy and smooth as mine had sounded. I turned to see him and my eyes could not stand but to stare. He was not of a normal human at all.
He stood a good foot over me with brown hair that had shades of red in it with the tips and roots being a darker almost black brown that faded into the brown with a reddish hue through out. His hair was straight and a bit shaggy like, but was cut nicely from his neck with the front being longer almost to his nose. His eyes were a pure green as grass green. There was no other way to describe the intensity of his eyes. They were even more intense than my blue eyes. Upon his neck was a black leather shocker with silver studs in it. This man was built long a God. He had muscle much nothing to bulky. It was just how his features placed him perfectly. I noticed his ears a bit as I normally do. He had four cartilage piercings at the top of his ear with a clamp on the side then a gauged ear at around a double zero with were in a spiral design and a second piercing at a fourteen. It was the exactly same on the other side. On my ear I had two double piercings, A claw gauge in the first, then a normal stud in the other, with an ear cuff and one cartilage piercing at the top, same as the other side. But the thing about him that got me the most was his snakebites he had. A ring on each side of his lip and a septum piercing. This man was beautiful. He looked nothing like those strange pierced guys. These just added on to his beautifulness. His ears were a bit covered by his hair so they were not as noticeable, but the lips were just something for me to faint about. This man was amazingly both handsome and beautiful.
“Ummm… Kid stop staring already.” This Damien boy glared at me with a hateful gaze. “Why are you here anyways. You’re not planning to cause trouble are you?” His word choice was quite annoying to me. Of course as all beautiful boys with shitty attitudes this one just adds to the list.
“How old are you?” I glared back at him as we both ignored the old man who chuckled a little at us.
“What’s a little girl like you want to know for?” He placed his hand upon my hand as he began to mock my height. I quickly slapped it away.
“I am eighteen for your information now how old are you?” I was trying to keep clam but the began to realized how I started to raise my voice.
“There is no way you as old as me…” He cocked his head at me in curiosity.
“Oh so you are around my age. I could not tell from your maturity.” I rolled by eyes at him as I turned my back at him. “I have no time for immature people like you.” I began to pace but was pulled back as he grabbed my arm gently enough to pull me back but not to hurt me.
“Hold on a second.” He spoke with a smile on his face. “You wouldn’t happen to be going to Hollow Trinity in a few weeks?”
“That is not ‘your’ business. Now leave me alone. I want to leave.” I glared at him as I looked away towards the door.
“You’re that comic artist aren’t you. God when did comic artists had a trade. A bit pathetic if you ask me.” He laughed at me with the intent of putting me down.
“Let go…” I yanked my hand free and glared at him most fiercely, even he pulled back a few inches. “If you want to keep your future children safe or that pretty face of yours. I’d suggest you don’t try and talk to me anymore… Bastard.” I walked off and mumbled the last part with my fists balled as I walked out. The bell chimed, and again it went when someone went out again. All I could do was hope it was not him. I kept walking without looking back. But something snapped once I heard that voice.
“Hey stop being such a drama queen. I am just saying you’re not going to go far. That’s all. There’s nothing to freak out about.” He stood a few feet behind me. I kept my face turned towards the outside of the ally. He knew better than to try and touch me.
“What is your professions? Why don’t you enlighten me on what a ‘real’ profession is to be?” My eyes darted at him coldly. I saw him shiver but hardly paid attention. I bore my eyes directly at his eyes. I had a technique of intimidating people easily.
“Uh... Well… It’s Psychology actually.” He said calmly as he stared back into my eyes with his odd green eyes.
“Give up. You don’t have the talent to use it at all.” I could easily tell. He was in no way trying to help me feel better or at least manipulate me to feel better. Or pulling any tricks. I decided to walk off again as he fell silent. Again I stopped and spoke again. “I am serious. Talk to me again and you’ll feel pain. I know this is a bit childish but you’re now the enemy. Where ever you are, I’ll screw up what ever you are doing just to fuck with you. Until then. I’ll be seeing you.”
Once I had left I could feel an eerie feeling following. I did not even turn around at all. I had a strong feeling he was smiling. He took my words as a challenge than a threat. I decided to continue on my way till I reached the main street again. I decided to stop at a little cafe before going home and bought a sandwich, two pieces of cake and a strong coffee drink with a sweet cold one.
I arrived back at the apartment with my brother a few minutes later. He was still reading on the couch but moved to where he hung upside down. He came up and sat normally when he finally noticed I was there. I swore all he did on his days off were read, read, and read.
“You weren’t gone to long…” He checked the time. “Only an hour? How many fights?” A goofy playful grin came to his face as his eyes watched me unpack all of the food from the bag.
“Shut up. They weren’t my fault at all… And besides I brought you home and promised to be home before dark.” I yawned a little but placed the sandwich and cake slice on a plate and the other cake slice on a different plate. I placed the one with a sandwich near him and placed the other on the opposite side and grabbed the drinks. He had the strong coffee. I disliked it to it’s bitterness, but it made the cake taste better, but I never minded it and just got the sweet on anyways.
“I see.. Thank you.” He smiled sweetly and took a bit of his sandwich with a grin. He loved the cafe that was nearby. The food there just amazed him and made him want to cook more and more, but he was already a junior detective with many wanting his head. He could not risk dropping his job.
“So what happened today?” He asked after a few more bites as I messed with the CD player to pop in a CD.
“Well Some girl tried to convince me to get out of the University and switch places with her just so she could help her and her daddy’s publicity.” I went to sit back down and took up my fork and place a small bit in my mouth to examine the tastes on my tongue.
“So what did you do?” Artemis watched with a curious smile.
“Well once she said I am pathetic like my parents. I threaten to hit her in the face which usually shuts them up but she continued and said something about not hitting her in the face…” I quickly took another bite.
“You never hit the face?” He looked at me confused.
“I know. I punched her in the stomach when she continued on.” I smiled as I took a few more bites then a drink of the iced coffee. It made me smile to how much sweeter it was to the cake.
“I hope we don’t get an assault charge against us…” He looked at me a bit worried.
“Nah… I scared her to much. I haven’t gotten a charge against me yet. They know better.” I looked at him with dead cold eyes.
“It’s your eyes. I envy you. I want to be the tough one, but my face is to innocent and no one can ever see me being mean. Just the nice quiet one…”
“I hate these eyes. They are to sensitive… And I don’t want to have this look… You know how it scares away every guy I’ve liked. They all say I look like I’ve wanted to kill them.”
“They weren’t like that till…” He quickly paused with a sad face. “I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine…” It was silent between the two of us for a long minute till Artemis spoke.
“So you hinted to being in more than one fight. What happened in the others?”
“Well it was only another one and that’s it…” I started off but I felt a bit embarrassed for some reason. He caught on quick.
“What did he look like and what did he do to frustrate you so much?” Artemis know my body language way to easily. It annoyed me but it was he amazing talents at work.
“You have no idea…” I sigh but glared at the other side of the room. “His personality was worst though. He was vicious… Rude… And a jerk…”
“He made fun of your height didn’t he?” He began to chuckle a bit.
“That’s not the point! He made fun of my talent…” I shifted a bit where I sat on the pillow of the floor.
“I see… Why does it matter. I doubt you’re going to be in the same university anyways. He’ll feel bad when he finds out that you’re in the university here.”
“I don’t know. I tried to put him down as retaliation but he smiled when I stormed off and said he would fail at being a psychologist… I have this weird feeling that he will be going to the university with me… You can not graduate this year!” I had realize this was my brother’s last year at the university. He was many years ahead but he has already completed an eight year PhD. in criminal justice with in what is going to be a full five years. Artemis really made me feel quite inferior. But as my father said I had the upper had at him in art. He could not draw even if a gun was pressed against his head. It took him many years to draw just a simple diagram that had needed to be a master detective.
“Sorry but you’re old enough to fight your own battles. Strong to shockingly. You need a guy… You can’t always protect yourself. I’ll help set you up with some good guys that will like you no matter what strangeness you carry. There has to be a guy out there that’s immune to you.”
“Making me sound like a disease does not help me, besides I doubt I can like another guy from a long time… “
“Look… Lillith it’s in the past so please let it die…” Artemis frowned as I picked up the empty plates before us.
“I know… But I can’t. No one will be like him. Please stop it. I don’t want to talk about it.” I placed the dishes in the sink and ran water over them. I turned and saw him in the opened false doorway.
“Lillith… You stop it. Just stop ignoring like it never happened. It did happen and he’s dead.” His eyes pierced me with a chill. I could feel my rage rising.
“We’ll talk about this when you tell me about mom and dad! Now shut up! I am going in my room. I don’t want to be bothered tonight.” I pushed past him and into the hall towards my room.
“Damn it Lillith…” Artemis watched as I went by. I slammed the door immediately behind me.
End of Chapter one: Wanna read more? Comment me and we’ll see. I still have many chapters willing and ready to go.
