“Can we talk right now?” I asked not looking at her but out into the distance. I could feel her looking up at me and decided to look back down at her. Her beautiful face was slightly confused. I sighed and continued “Really this would be the only time we could talk; its just missing one day of school it won’t really matter and neither of our parents would ever find out.” I said my words getting more and more quiet as I saw her face turn slowly from confusion to shock and horror.“But what if he did find out…” she trailed off she let her head fall down. I could tell she was scared, she didn’t want to do anything against the rules or do anything that might put her in harms way. “I don’t want to put in her any danger either but we would never have enough time before school and someone might here and after school is a no; she has to understand this is the only time.” I thought desperately but reaming calm on the outside.“He won’t, and even if he does I’ll make sure that nothing will happen to you.” I said calmly trying to make her understand. I needed to know what was traumatizing her like this; and I wanted to share some of my story to. I slowly lifted her chin up so she could look up at me. Her eyes still slightly averted mine but I continued to gaze into her face and gradually she looked up into my eyes. The fear in hers almost gone but I could still see it their. “I promise I won’t let anything hurt you.” Her eyes softened releasing the fear and showing trusting; the thing I was so happy to see. “Finally I see trust in her eyes. She trusts me!” I screamed with joy in my mind. “I hope it’s the right thing.” I suddenly thought in despair. “I don’t want her to end up being hurt because of her trust in me.”            Her eyes with trust didn’t stay with my gaze for long; she dropped her head back down and nodded into my chest. “Thank you.” I thought out to who ever might be helping me be it karma, dumb luck, or some other thing. Thank you.             “Come on lets go before the bell rings.” I said unwillingly releasing the grip I had around her soft small fragile body; but grabbing her hand and starting to pull her towards the back gate. Hopefully no one would notice us leaving. I slightly quickened are pace trying to put as much space in-between us and the school as possible. I could feel her hand slightly slipping out of mine. I tuned my head around “oh crap I forgot she doesn’t have as long of legs as me.” I thought as I saw she was almost running to keep up with me. “Oh, I’m sorry I didn…” I trailed off as I saw the expression on her face she was smiling as she was panting trying to keep up.            “Let’s run faster.” She half gasped out. Apparently she hadn’t noticed that she was the only one running. I felt her hand slip out of mine. “Aww, can’t we run and hold hands?” I wanted to ask but I knew it would probably be too hard for her and me so I didn’t even bother asking. Once she let go she began to speed down the halls running out of the gate and kept going I tried to keep up with her, but even with my long legs it was hard. “How the hell can she run so fast?” I thought as I panted trying to catch up with her. She turned her head around and noticed that she was way out in front of me and past the school looming gates she stopped. She leaned over and placed her hands on her knees before sitting on the ground laughing. I just stood their panting looking down at her. “What’s gotten into her? God I’m just asking nothing but questions aren’t I.” I thought exasperated. I guess my face must have looked some what quizzical as she looked up at me and stopped laughing.            “Sorry it’s just this is really fun.” She said whispering lowering her head down. “It’s just I’ve never done anything like this before; I’m always the goody two shoes who just shuts up and does what’s she told. I like doing this better its fun.” She said slightly smiling as she looked back up at me.            “Wow, who knew she was such a rebel inside.” I thought chuckling a little, as I extended my hand down to her. “Well we can do a lot of rebellious stuff today if you want.” I said smiling with a slight hint of laughter still etched in my voice. She took my hand and I helped pull her up. I gazed into her eyes as we just stood their each thinking about our own lives and how today probably wouldn’t be much happier than this; even though if I could I would gladly make her never feel any pain and only happiness; even more than what she was feeling now. “So do you have an idea where we can talk?” I asked quietly snapping both of us out of our reveries. A small smile lighted her face as she took my hand.            “Follow me.” She said as she pulled me forward.            “Wow I didn’t know their were so many houses here.” I thought as I turned my head this way and that, looking at this new part of town that I had never been to before. It was so much different than where I lived in the desolate countryside. Here it was busy with cars constantly going this back and fourth. I could see kids playing outside their houses, and we did pass by a few ranches that looked so out of place next to the prestige two story houses with their perfectly cut lawns, and seemingly perfect families that they held within. We kept walking until we reached another complex of houses these ones were obviously older and more worn down, but we kept walking until we turned into a type of creek. It was beautiful the trees out lining much of the small river, the damns made by the beavers which in turn made some of the spots in the river slightly over flow. We walked over a plank that reached out over to the other side of the river where their was a small grassy island. “Oh god is this thing stable.” I thought cowardly as I set my foot onto the plank and it sank down an inch or two. With each step the plank bounced up and down “it might suddenly make me bounce to high and throw me off.” I thought trying to calm my nerves but only making the small plank seemingly more deadly. When I made it to the other side I let out a sigh of relief. I looked up I hadn’t felt her hand leave mine but their she was in front of me heading towards a huge tree who’s branches bent all the way down to make a type of barrier around it. She walked to it and behind the barrier; it was as if she had disappeared behind the mass of green; I quickly followed after her, the tall grass whipping at my legs and the constant animal holes making me trip. “I think I actually prefer the plank of doom to this.” I thought sarcastically as I stumbled to my way to her. Again I was panting as I reached the tree. “Damn I need to get into some better shape.” I thought begrudgingly to myself as I parted some of the branches so I could enter. “Oh, my, god.” Was all I could whisper as I looked at the place where we now stood.             It was probably the most beautiful place I had ever been to in my entire life. Their was a small pool that lead back out to the river outside.  All the grass in here was green unlike the strawish color of the grass outside that had been slowly baked by the California sun. But the small holes in the trees barrier of branches let in small spots of light slightly illuminating the inside, making it look like we were falling through the endless cosmos of the night. Everything about this place was breath taking. Almost seemingly magical.            “It’s beautiful isn’t it?” I heard her whisper softly from above me.            “Yeah.” I replied somewhat stupidly still struck by the absolute beauty that this place held. I could hear her laughing slightly. I snapped back into consciousness looking around I saw her up on the side of what was a kind of hill which the tree was leaning off of. “What?” I asked somewhat defensively “Why was she laughing?” I thought slightly annoyed as I stepped closer to her.            “Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I just thought it was kinda funny; your reaction at this place, you just stood their for like minuets just looking at it, I’m sorry.” She said her voice getting quieter with every word.            “Really? I was looking at it for that long; I guess I would’ve laughed to.” I said smiling at her. Even though she was almost 3 feet higher up than where I was, and it made her look as if she was just slowly drifting pass all the stars that the sky could hold, as the wind blew and made the small sparks of light move from side to side within our small haven “well now it looks like I get to be the smaller one.” I thought, smiling slightly.            She slid down off the small hill and walked and sat down next to the small pool that shone slightly as the small light reflected off it. “So do you want to go first or should I?” She said quietly as she looked down at the water.

            The cheery feeling I just had a minuet ago vanished as I remember why we were here. “I guess you can this is your place, so I don’t know you can to start first; if you want.” I said in a slight cautious whisper. It didn’t feel right to talk even talk in this place like it would disrupt the serene beauty of it. I walked over to her and sat silently down beside her. “She looks so worried maybe she doesn’t want to tell me? Maybe getting close to her is a big mistake.” I mused to myself lowering the self worth I had for myself even more.
