In an ancient stone circular courtyard half reclaimed by nature.  Where immense thorny weeds grow through cracks in the moss covered rocks.  Around the center of the stone courtyard sit a boy and a girl, both no older than fifteen or sixteen. The girl had long straight light brown hair, her eyes a deep shade of brown.  The boy had pitch black hair and swirling grey eyes.  Both sit across from each other on a hard stone bench, encompassed by ash and weeds with no life surrounding them, leaving the night air void of sound or life.  "Prove that you love me."  Said the girl in a mischievous tone.  The boy turning his head from the girl to the stone floor and sighs then turns back to the girl.  He leans over giving her a passionate kiss and whispers "Alright".  He slowly gets up and walks a short distance away from her.  The girl looks at him curiously "What are…" but is cut off by a strong gust of wind.  The boy stands straight and rigid for several seconds, then suddenly jumps and reaches out as if to desperately catch the translucent moon light.  A shinning gust of wind catches the girl’s attention as it flutters into his hand, the boy slowly falls to the ground, his hand still outstretched above his head in front of the blue moon.  In his hand lays something almost invisible in the night sky.  A black rose.  The wind stops as abruptly as it began.  He turns around to face the girl with the rose hanging by his side.  The thorns piercing his hand, he holds it tight,   as if afraid to lose this delicate flower.  A small drop of blood falls to the ground, the earth starts to shake.  Grass and trees pop out from the ground everywhere around them.  Life in all its splendor springs forth in this desolate place.  The boy walks back to the bench where the girl sits in awe.  "I love you," he says handing her the rose, careful not to prick her milky white hand with the thorns.  He kisses her on the cheek.  The girl moves her hand up to where he placed his kiss and feels the warmth still resonating there.  She looks back into his strong tender face and finding no words, lays her head against his chest and lets it rest, listening to the pounding of his heart.
