KELLY

I handed my teacher the notebook back and walked out the door. I turned my lock right, left then right and opened my locker. I felt someone hug me from behind. I turn around and it's Cory, my best friend since sixth grade.

"Hey!" I said turning around in his arms. "What's up?"

"Nothing much!" he said letting go of me. "I just have one more hour until I can have lunch with you and Kyle. Should be fun since Kyle says he has something really important though I bet it's just one of his lame jokes that make you squirt milk out of your nose."

"Don't say anymore!" I said rolling my eyes. "I do not need to relive that moment!" I shuddered. We walked down the hall together until we had to split ways because we had different subjects this hour.

CORY

I walked into Mrs. Beiner's fourth hour class which is math. I hate math. Yada, yada, yada. I don't feel like giving you the whole speil on why I don't like it. Anyways, today has to be the worst day of my life because she hands me a notebook and says I have to write in it and she'll give me extra credit. I agreed because there is no way I am getting a B in this class without it.

I need at least a B to not be grounded and to keep my truck. I really want to visit Kelly this weekend and go over to Kyle's house like usual while avoiding homework. I take the notebook and sit in my seat.

I opened it and read the other entries. Seems like they have a worst off home life but my personal life might just be going down the tubes.

Dear Dave and Kimmy,

Your home lives must really suck. I don't know what its like but my friend tells me about her home life all the time and it seems really bad. My friend's home life is kinda like your's Kimmy but I guess it's not my position to tell about her story. Anyways, I think I'm in love with her.

I mean during class I watch the clock and count the minutes until I can see her again. Corny isn't it? But it's true. Her smile brightens my day though I bet mine doesn't brighten hers. I love how she laugh's at our friends jokes even when they aren't even funny.

Oh god! When did this happen? I don't want to tell her so that our friendship doesn't change and on the other hand I want to tell her in case she likes me too.

Any advice?

I finshed just as the bell rung for lunch. I tossed the teacher the notebook and slinked out the door. I really wanted to know what Kyle needed to tell us.

KYLE

"Shelly and I are now going out!" I said happily as Kelly and Cory come in. I bet they feel uncomfortable now because all of our other friends have hooked up and now it's just down to them. They're gapiing at us. "What? Not happy for us?" My arm is around her waist.

"Um no! We are, right Kelly?" said Cory looking between me and her.

"Yeah! Definately!" she said, nodding her head. Cory gobbled down his lunch and dumped the rest he didn't want in the garbage can. He walked out of the Cafeteria obviously going to his famous hiding spot, the library.

"He doesn't seem happy. . ." said Shelly looking at me with eyes that said 'Did we do something wrong?' I smiled at her to reassure her it was just Cory being over-dramatic.

"No. . .no." said Kelly after what seems like forever. "He's happy. He just has a weird way of showing it." She took the last bite out of her mystery meat hamburger as the bell rung. "Well see ya!" she said and walked off to her 5th hour class.

I give Shelly a quick kiss on the lips and a hug before a teacher can catch us and follow suit.
