I walked into my first hour where my teacher stopped me saying that I was chosen to do this school journal or diary project. I mean seriously what the hell is that? He said that you write in it but you have no clue who you are writing to because the teachers exchange it and you don't. The only reason he coaxed me into it was because he said he would give me extra credit in his class.

"So all I have to do it write in it?" I asked him again to make sure.

"Yes, Jake." said Mr. Robinson. "All you have to do is write in it and respond to the other students who write in it, then you get the extra credit. Also you can change your name in it too."

"Sweet!" I said taking the new notebook he handed to me. I decided I would write in it during his class.

Dear who ever I am writing to,

You probably want me to say my life sucks and I hate school. Except my life does suck but I love school, it's like my haven. My dad is a drunk and my mom left when I was about nine. The only way I get around my dad just about beating the shit out of me is by fighting back or running. Oh man I just keep running and running and running. Sometimes when I come back my dad has totally sobered up.

I bet the teachers don't know any of this because I always come to school. My dad just thinks I skip but theu feed me here so why not come here? Sometimes if my dad gives me a black eye I just blame it on a fight outside of school. I just can't tell on my dad he's the only family I got.

I would hate to go live in a foster home with strangers and I don't feel like living with my aunt or grandma either. They are total neat freaks.

Right after I finish I hand the notebook back to Mr. Robinson. "There I wrote in it!" I said and walked out the door.

"No way in hell am I doing that!" I said after I found out I was a participitant in this totally bogus journal or diary project after I entered 3rd hour.

"Kelly watch your language!" exclaimed Mrs. Farber. "I'll give you extra credit if you do. Which you clearly need to pass this class."

"Fine!" I grumbled and took the notebook. I sat in the back and immediately opened it expecting to be the first one to write in it. I was surprised when I found out someone else already wrote in it. I read their entry. It seemed to be a he but I didn't know any Dave at this school so I figured the guy made up his name.

Dear Dave,

Sorry to hear that. In my case my mom's the drunk. Sometimes when she comes home she brings home guys and I sit in the other room hearing them make sex to each other all night. Talk about traumatic. Though in your case I would chose my mom over having an abusive drunk dad.

I usually get up and put on a a sweater or jacket and just walk out of the house. When it's warm I sleep in the local park but I hide myself so I don't get attacked or sexually abused. But this one time I was close to getting raped but I kicked the guy in the private and ran.

My mother is never abusive she is just really sexually active and she says I should stay abstenant? I think that's how you spell it. Well fuck her. If she does it every other night don't fucking preach at me say don't do this don't do that. Well class is about to end so gotta go.
