Chapter 2
Terri rushed out of class and to her locker. Claire walked off to talk to her other friends in her next class. Terri gaped as she saw Chris at her locker already. She continued walking to her locker trying to keep her surprise under control. She swiftly opened her locker, thinking of how to get back at him. “I thought you wouldn’t show.” she said.
“A bet’s a bet and I never go back on my word.” Chris said, trying to hold back his laugh as he saw Terri’s nose wrapped in white gauze with her black and blue eyes.
Terri glared at him. “Here!” she said, handing him her math book, social studies book, and notebooks. “Now follow me to my class.” She started walking off to her next class as Chris walked behind her trying to carry the heavy books.
Terri stopped half-way to her class when she noticed people staring. “Okay! Give them to me!” she said reaching for them.
“Why?” he asked. “You won . . . Why do you not want me to carry your books?”
“It’s too embarrassing with everyone staring!” she said. “I hate it when people stare it makes me feel uncomfortable!”
“Oh! So that’s why you never had a boyfriend!” the boy retorted. “If he stared at you to long you would go off on him right? Am I right?”
“Knock it off and give me my books!”
“Why should I?” Chris said, smiling and holding the books over his head.
“Just. . .” she said reaching for the books.
Before she could say anything else she tripped over her own feet causing her to ram into Chris making them both fall over. The books flew out of Chris’ hands and landed somewhere down the hall. Terri had fallen right on top of Chris and their lips where touching. Terri jumped up as quick as she could, grabbed her stuff and ran to her next class. Chris lay there on the floor in shock. When the bell rang it jouslted him out of his thoughts and he ran to his next class.Known to neither Chris or Terri, Cody and Claire had seen what had happened. Claire vowed to herself to keep it a secret that she had seen it but Cody’s mind was in the other direction. Cody decided to hold it over Chris’ head for a while and use it for blackmail purposes.
