I've noticed over my time here on testriffic that pretty much every popular story is a love story. I'm not saying their bad, far from that, but there are so many of them. Why don't those people who focus exclusivly on romance stories try something new? How about a fantasy story? It dosen't have to be like LotR amount of fantasy, it could just be about....I don't know, anything I guess. It's just kinda tiring seeing all these love stories taking all the spotlight.
Why don't people write those old monster stories anymore. I know they are cliche and boring if they are made in the norm standards. But if your good enough you could make a monster story that seperates itself from all the other stories.
Or how about a surreal take on the future, or even a surreal take on the past if you can think of some way to do that.
I would LOVE to see a book that takes stuff from pretty much every genre. If someone could pull that off then I would definatly read and reread that story.
Again, I'm not saying that any of these romance stories are bad. But a breath of fresh air would be refreshing.

I agree! It's hard to find good stories that don't have too much of "romance" on this site. I thought I was the only one, and I thought wrong. But I'm not saying that romance stories are wrong. It's just that there's too much of it. I mean, I suck at writing stories. No matter what I write, it's just not good. You can see for yourself if you want and post comments like "you really do suck" on my page. But yeah, it's hard to pull off a good story that doesn't have too much of the "romance" content. |

i understand it completely. people really can't write stories without a romance one getting in the way. i know mine are labeled romanced, but seriously.. that's the only way people look at stories today. that or sex this and sex that. not saying their all bad or a waste of time. some are amazingglyy good. but yeah, i like jirrith2007's idea. :) |

i do agree... but i tend to write romance stories... but they are usually more than one category (ex. romance/tragedy or romance/horror) because even though love afflictions are okay, i just think they do not add to the whole affect of stories |

I agree. There are too many romance stories out there. It gets a little boring when all you read is romance romance romance. That is why I like looking at ones that are a bit different then the rest. I've written one that is untitled and not a love story but a thriller/horror/action/future type thing and it did pretty darn well. I'm wanting to do a past one during the Great Depression. But I have to think more on it before I post it. And i'm actually stepping out of the boundries and doing a vampire story. I've always wanted to do one cause I find them interestin,and mysterious. I just hope it works out. But I totally agree with you. I have list of stories I want to write that I haven't seen on here yet, or can't seem to find because the love stories are taking over some of the light of other great stories. I'm not saying either that I don't like a good love story but some are a little cliche. I was just like to see diversity in the stories on here. But yeah. And I like the idea Jirrith2007 has. I think that would be an awesome idea. No rules. Everyone can make the story flow but have a different genre take on. :P |

I'm more of the romance novel kind of person. Personally, I don't read or write vampire/fantasy stories. idk y but I don't. My stories aren't all about love though. I have drama and action all in it too. Even though my stories say romance, most likely they have action/drama/whatever inside it. I was thinking of putting something with time traveling like what avder said, but idk yet. Romance novels are pretty popular now these days and that's mainly why I write them. It's just a passion. :) |

I guess my story has more than one genre right now. I mostly like to write about romance but I am doing a story that is in the fantasy/drama/action/fiction/romance genres. It has time travel and magic and princesses. I like to write romance but I do step outside that sometimes |

Haha... I actually tried that once, and I hear what you're saying. But mine didn't do too well, but I think that's because it's aimed towards a6-8th grade reading type thing. I think it would be cool if some writers would collaborate on a story, like one post one chapter, and another post the next... well,... yeah. |
