I woke up and groggily trudged down the stairs. That's when I remembered that it was a Saturday, time to visit Dad. The worst part about living in Brookside was knowing that I would have to leave every weekend to glorious, fabulous, Havenbrook...and then come back.

Haven brook was settled just South of Brookside. It had 2 or 3 malls, and at least 4 movie theatres. There were too many restraunts to name, and three times as many fast-food joints. Havenbrook was HUGE. And it was about 45 minutes away from the heart of brookside, the highschool. After I ate my bowl of cereal I climbed up the stairs once again, and looked out the window for the first time. It was slightly overcast, but it probably wouldn't rain. I shuffled over to my closet and grabbed a pair of jeans, and my "BHS Wildcats" hoodie. After I was fully clothed, and had found my white Nike's. I pulled my hair into a sloppy pony-tail, not caring how i looked. My Dad loved me, what did he care about my looks?

I grabbed my wallet, phone, and keys and headed out to my Jeep, pulling my hood on once I had stepped off the porch. When I pulled into the gravel driveway of the little brick house, I noticed that it had stopped raining. Figures..Havenbrook had perfect weather...just another reason it was so hard to go back. Then again, it probably didn't helped that my father tried to get me to stay everytime I came over. But I had to graduate in Brookside, I couldn't not see Carter everyday. I looked up from the ignition to see my dad waving from the covered porch. He was in sweats, and he didn't look to good. He clenched a tissue in his left which was presently at his face because...well you know why.

"Hey Dad!" I called, "You ok?"

He looked up at me, "Oh hey Sugar! yeah, I'm ok I just got the ah-ah- ACHOO! Sniffles...ughh..."

"Dad, you probably need to get inside, here let me help you." I wasn't really worried about catching anything, but my dad was...

"No, no sugar, I don't want you gettin' sick. I hate that you drove all the way out here, but my phones are all out because of the storm we had last night. But while you're here, would you mind drivin' up to Cochran's Pharmacy? I just called in for some medicine that'll help this go away for next weekend."

"Uhh, sure Dad. You just stay inside ok?"

He agreed, so I left. Havenbrook had a lot of franchise pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens, so finding Cochran's Pharmacy wasn't too hard...it was the only one that was localy owned. I pulled up and gasped. Out loud. I'm talking Soap Opera Gasp-and-side-look with a "To be continued" logo plastered over my face. I took a deep breath and stepped out of the car, still staring at the red Porsche parked right beside me.

Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing Dooooooooooooooooong

The stupid little doorbell had ruined my entrance, I was going to be subtle and quiet. I stared at the messy brown curls that were turned towards a shelf at the front. He was re-organizing some bottles of viatamins. I sighed to myelf. He was so beautiful. I knew he was beautiful, utterly jaw-dropping, insanely gorgeous. but i couldn't help being shocked every time I saw his face. It was too perfect. So angelic that it hurt to look at him. But I couldn't help but stare.

I was momentarily distracted, "Welcome Ma'am. How can help you?" It was Carter's dad. He was perched behind the counter at the front. He was in a white lab coat. He looked like any other dad, which didn't make any sense to me. Carter was so Other-worldly Gorgeous and his dad looked like he might actually belong in Brookside. That's when i remembered Carter was adopted.

"Oh...uhh..I just came to pick up my Dad's medicine...His name is Jared Monroe." I stuttered. Carter's eyes flashed to mine the instant I started speaking. I stared at my shoes awkwardly, trying to avoid eye contact.

"KARLEIGH?!" his musical voice with that irresistable accent. It made my head jerk up from my shoes, just in time to see his lit up face rushing towards me, along with the rest of his body of course.

"Umm hi Carter." I stammered, and then I couldn't help but smile. He was smiling. And then he wrapped both arms around me in a friendly hug. I could hardly breathe. It took every ounce of my determination to walk to the front of the store to get my Dad's medicine. I was so shocked that he would even want to hug me, let alone that he would do it.

I waved goodbye, and went back to my car without even really being aware of it. I was just so so so so shocked!

I drove to my Dad's house and delivered the medicine, and then went home. It was dark, and lonely on the freeway back home. When I pulled in Mom's car wasn't there. She was probably at her "Game Night". I wasn't exactly sure what they did, but from what i understood it was what almost every middle-aged woman here in Brookside did on a Saturday night. If they had a husband, or their kids were old enough to be left at home. It kind of made me sick.

I went to sleep that night feeling Carters arms still wrapped around my waist. Shit. I wished I would've thought to fix my hair down.
