C/B- Night One- The Black Grounds (Sub-Chapter Three)
|
Gabrielle had reached the far end of the hallway after a quick dash and turned in different directions to see if she was down any of the intersecting hallways. On his right side, she was there; slowly pacing away back toward the dining room and slowly leaving his view.
Gabrielle continued rushing down that hallway and shouted at Gabriella to stop; but to his surprise, a voice did resonate back to his ears.
“I kept….. waiting and waiting……”
Gabrielle didn’t flinch at all but instead rushed down the hall that he saw Gabriella go by. He reached the dining hall and yelled out to Gabriella to see if she still resided in the room. He received no reply; only dead silence for that moment; that one moment only. A pulsing sound began to erupt in his ears over and over; the sound of a heart beat. He checked his own heart pulse to see if it was actually his own placing his left arm over the pulsing point; it couldn’t be. The pulsing noise couldn’t be his since his was racing about twice as fast and only faster as he realized that he was falling into the same situation as the memory burst had shown him.
But he had to find Gabriella…One way or another he had to; even if it meant following the same tracks as the “view” did in that memory. Uncertain but surely, Gabrielle began to walk towards the stairway hoping that he would find Gabriella in the room at the top of the stairway. His feet squeaked every floorboard as he went up the steps but he didn’t flinch at a single sound; he was only concentrated on making it to the top of the fleet of stairs.
After he reached the top of the stairs, he glanced down the hallway to see that Gabriella was at the edge of very end of the hallway. She had a worried look on her face when she acknowledged him but she didn’t hesitate when she opened up the door beside her. She rushed in and Gabrielle only shouted her name.
No hesitation occurred for Gabriella and the same went for Gabrielle when he rushed down the hallway right into the room. Up at the beginning of the hallway however, watched a pair of dead ink eyes constantly shifting around in its inanimacy. But this time, a figure withdrew itself from stillness……
Gabrielle was by then, in the room to where he had seen Gabriella enter. He could only make comparisons to the memory realizing that the room looked closely familiar; however, Gabriella was nowhere in sight. But that didn’t matter…
“…I kept waiting and waiting…” he heard through a whisper in the air. Gabrielle only shuddered.
“...Why didn’t you come for me…? I thought you cared about me…” he heard from the similar voice. A click was heard near the backroom and a small light flickered on in that room. No words were floating then but Gabrielle urged himself to move forward despite the gruesome fact that he was following a memory. Slowly and silently, he shifted towards the doorway of the backroom without each of his senses depleting from his mind; he was widely alert.
Gabrielle’s mind began to retract back and forth between the memory and reality as he stopped at the doorway. The memory flashed back and forth between steps as he finally slowly paced inside of the backroom; it stopped when he turned his head swiftly to glimpse what was to exist in the room.
“Where did you go…?” said the voice that was now distinguishable enough as Gabriella. There she was kneeling to where she had been reading a small journal of some sort; but Gabrielle stood there petrified with a thought of fear in his mind. For what was lurking all around Gabriella, was a spirit of a woman with long stringy hair. She had her pale colored arm around Gabriella and didn’t seem to harm her; but that didn’t convince Gabrielle anyhow. He took aim at the specter with the Camera Obscura and went for the direct shot.
A large snap sound was heard as the film shot around the spirit, burning her lingering essence and body. When Gabriella heard the spirit retract with a shriek, she had finally noticed the situation; immediately, she dashed alongside Gabrielle. The spirit however, finding the shot unpleasant, vanished and began to whisper in a cold voice.
“Why…Why so much pain and darkness…? It’s your fault I’m in all of this! Why all this torture to me?”
Gabrielle could only shift around and around hoping to catch the spirit unguarded but could only shiver at the thought of the lingering voice. His back was nearly against the window wall now with Gabriella hiding behind his back. He could only focus on the walls now and his hands became sweaty.
The spirit didn’t reappear in Gabrielle’s view; there wasn’t silence any silence however when Gabriella began kicking all over. The spirit had her throat in cling from the window wall and was slowly clutching harder and harder trying to squeeze the life out of Gabriella. Gabrielle panicked at the sight and while Gabriella was struggling to hold on, the camera flashed to repel the spirit; however it was an inaccurate shot. The spirit wasn’t repulsed but it let go of Gabriella; only to lung for Gabrielle.
Gabrielle was knocked over by the force of the spirit and felt a pair of large hands grasp his throat slowly. He tugged and tried to pry apart the fingers of the spirit but they seemed to be only partially real-like. The strangling didn’t feel like strangling though. He felt as if he could still breathe yet, in his soul, he felt as if it was slowly withering away. His soul was depressing slowly.
But as Gabrielle struggled to hold his life within himself, he had also realized that the Gabriella was on the floor unconscious; he couldn’t tell whether she was alive or not.
“No….” he thought to himself. “It couldn’t end this way already... I promised Gabriella I’d take care of her and never leave her side…”
Camera Obscura only flashed once more before an ear-splitting scream was heard across the entire house… Then only darkness was present…
In a matter of hours the Waxing Crescent appeared….
Author's Comments: Ok, this concludes the first night of this series. There are eight more nights left and I hope that this small sub-chapter was decent... *sigh*...I'll most more whenever the ratings go higher of course...Thanks for reading
