Blane Chapter 9: Dad Goes to Jail

Dale drove Blane back and walked him to his door.
“I had a great time tonight.” said Dale
“Me too, I liked seeing you two get along. It was important to me, you two are the most important people in my life right now.” said Blane
“Well I’m happy that you’re happy.” said Dale
Dale leaned in and gave Blane a peck on the lips. Blane closed his eyes as if to savor that blissful moment. Blane walked into his house, and Dale went back to his car. Blane looked out of the living room window and watched Dale’s care drive away.
“Hey, where have you been, dad’s pissed.” whispered Daniel
“I went out.” said Blane
“It better not have been with Dale ‘cause dad is furious with you. You’d better go quietly to your room so he doesn’t hear you.” said Daniel.
“No, I’m not going apologize for spending time with the people that I care about.” said Blane
“Do you really think he cares about you Blane? He’s just using you to get sex. That’s the way he is.” said Daniel
“What are you talking about? You don’t even know him.” said Blane
“No, but…”
“You know, I don’t even want to hear it.” Blane started to walk upstairs, but turned around to say one more thing. “And if he was after sex, why haven’t we done it already and why hasn’t the subject even come up yet?” asked Blane
“I’m just looking out for you. I love you, I don’t want you to get hurt.” said Daniel
“Oh, is that what you’re doing, keeping me form getting hurt? Well, you’re not doing a very good job of that, because Dale’s not the one hurting me right now, you are.” said Blane
“I just love you is all.” said Daniel
“Then why can’t you just be happy for me?” Blane turned around and walked the rest of the stairs, to his room.
Daniel felt really bad for what he had said. After hearing so much hurt in Blane’s voice, he couldn’t help but feel like shit. He knew that he was jumping to conclusions about Dale, but he just wanted Blane to have a reason to dump him so that their dad wouldn’t try and send him away again. Daniel, after thinking about his actions some, went upstairs.
The next morning, Daniel was sitting at the breakfast table sipping coffee alone when Blane walked in. He has a black eye, and a pretty swollen lip. He was trying to hide it from Daniel, but it was too obvious for Daniel not to notice.
“Oh my God what did he do to you?” asked Daniel
“Its nothing.” said Blane
“The hell its nothing, you have a black eye.” said Blane
Daniel got an ice pack from the freezer and put it on Blane’s eye. Daniel was furious. He was so furious that he called the police. Blane first didn’t want him to, but then he realized that if his dad was in jail he would be free to see Dale as much as he wanted. So, he agreed to Daniel calling the police. The police arrested their father for child abuse.
*** School ***
Dale was waiting in the front of the school for Blane with Sam and Emily. They had saw what happened at the junior prom, but since the couple left afterwards, Sam and Emily didn’t really believe their relationship. And since they hadn’t seen Dale or Blane all summer they wanted to see for themselves if Dale was telling the truth about their relationship.
“So where’s your boyfriend at?” asked Sam
“Just relax he’ll be here.” said Dale
“You know what Hun, I think it’s time for you to let go of this fantasy that you and Blane Adams are a couple.” said Emily
“How many times to I have to tell you guys, this isn’t a fantasy. Me and Blane are going out, it isn’t a fantasy.” said Dale
Just then, Blane pulled into the parking lot in Nissan. The parking lot was on the other side of the school, so Blane had to make his way around the school before Dale could even spot him. Dale and his friends were looking forward, and Blane walked up behind them.
“Dale.” Blane said and Dale jumped
“Ah!” Dale turned around. “Oh, my god you scared me.”
“Sorry.” said Blane with his head low trying to hide his face from Dale
“Blane, look at me.” said Dale
“Dale is there something you’d like to tell us.” said Emily
“Emily can you shut up, I’m trying to talk to Blane. Blane put your head up.” said Dale
Blane put his head up for Dale to see. When he saw, Dale put Blane into his arms. Blane put his head Dale’s shoulder.
“Who in the fuck did this to you?” asked Dale
“My dad.” said Blane as he let go of Dale
“Are you going to press charges?” asked Dale
“I already have, he’s in jail right now. We’re waiting for the hearing right now.” said Blane
“Oh babe I’m so sorry.” said Dale
“But you don’t understand. I should be happy, I should be glad that he’s in jail.” said Blane
“Why would you be he’s your father. No matter what he did to you, no matter what he said, he’s your father and you love him.” said Dale
“But now that’s he’s gone we can be together as much as we want.” said Blane
“Yes of course, but that doesn’t you have to be glad that your father is in jail.” said Dale
