Daily Lane Ch.5: Missing, pt.2
|
So the rest of the day went really well. Of course they weren’t able to go throughout the day without the occasional “faggots” being yelled at them, but it wasn’t anything that was going to bring their spirits down. In fact, they actually were in the same English class, which brought up their spirits tremendously. They got the English teacher that Ken and everyone wanted, the best teacher in the school, Mrs. Perch.
Mrs. Perch was the nicest and most loving teacher a student could ever know. She was also the most passionate about her job. The most important things to her were her students and obviously, her family. Ken was especially close to Mrs. Perch. She had been his teacher for ninth, eleventh, and now twelfth grade English. He looked up to her as a mentor, since English was his favorite subject and is what he wanted to do with his life.
English was their last period of the day, so after class, Ken wanted to stay awhile and introduce her better to Luke.
“Hey Mrs. Perch.” said Ken
“Oh Hello Kenny; how was your summer?” asked Mrs. Perch
“It was more than spectacular.”
“Well that’s great, and why is that?” asked Mrs. Perch
“Well, I think I met the one that I’m going to love for the rest of my life.” said Ken
“Oh really, is this him?” asked Mrs. Perch
“Yeah, well you know his name, he’s in your class.” said Ken
“Yes Luke, right.”
“Yes” said Luke, who was surprised that Mrs. Perch knew that Ken was gay
“Well that’s nice that you two have each other.”
“You know what; I was a little surprised that you knew that Ken was gay.”
“Yes, Ken confided in me about two years ago, and I advised him to come out to his parents.”
“Well, I’m glad that you did, because if you didn’t, I would be with him right now.” said Luke as he smiled at Ken.
“Well, I hope for the best for you two.”
“Thanks Mrs. P.” said Ken “Well we have to go now, you know Luke’s sister’s probably worried about what’s taking him so long to get home.”
“Okay, well good luck throughout the year, and I hope that your relationship goes without any trials.” said Mrs. Perch
“Yeah like that’ll happen.” said Ken
So they left and they had felt really good about their day. Ken was especially happy that Brian, his best friend, accepted him for who he was. And Luke was happy that Brian had accepted Ken. He wanted Ken to have a friend at school besides him. He dropped Ken off at his house, but not before giving him a goodbye for now kiss. Then he went back to his own house. He knew that Lisa probably couldn’t concentrate on her work all day for worrying about them, so he expected her to be waiting on the couch for him tapping her feet on the floor.
Sure enough, Luke was right. She wanted to talk to him as soon as he walked through the door, but Luke was sort of tired and he wanted to settle in before he started talking about how his day went. Which didn’t go well, but it didn’t go horrible either. So Luke went upstairs, put away his stuff, and changed into some more comfortable clothes. Then he went downstairs to talk to Lisa, who was still sitting on the couch and tapping her feet on the floor.
“Okay, what do want to know?” asked Luke as he sat down next to his sister.
“How was your day, did you have any trouble?” asked Lisa
“Well, there were a few people that yelled out some things, but nothing that would ever bother us.”
“What did they yell out at you? I’m calling you principle right now!” said Lisa
“Lisa, you don’t have to do that. I told you, it didn’t bother us. Besides, calling the principle won’t stop those kids from yelling out insults.”
“Well, I suppose your right.”
Then, the telephone rang; it was Ken. He was worried because Kira wasn’t home. They had had plans for that evening to go to the mall, but he had to cancel so that way he could go look for his sister. Obviously, Luke understood, he had even offered to help look for her. But Ken told him that this wasn’t anything that he should worry about.
Luke agreed no to help, but he couldn’t help but be worried for Kira, and for Ken. He wished that nothing bad could ever happen to Ken, and if it did, he wanted to anything to help Ken, but this time he couldn’t and it was starting to bother him. So, three days went by, and still no sign of Kira. By now the police have been heavily involved in searching for her, but it wasn’t until the third day that they had gotten a solid lead.
They had found out that her new boyfriend was the little brother of Trent George, Russell George. Their theory was that maybe he was trying to get back a Ken for what they did to him. But Luke didn’t believe that theory. Ken and Luke didn’t really do anything to Trent, it was all Cindy. If he wanted revenge on anyone, it would be Cindy.
So the police questioned Russell, but he hadn’t seen Kira since school, he waited for her after school, he was supposed to give her a ride home, but she never showed up. There were witnesses that the police followed up on and Russell’s story held up pretty strong so he was eliminated as a suspect in her disappearance.
The entire time, Luke was by Ken’s side, who was absolutely devastated. On the outside, Kira and Ken’s relationship seemed to be a tense one. But there was a side of their relationship that no one else saw but them; they were really close, closer than maybe even Lisa and Luke. But the only thing that comforted him in this whole situation was having Luke by his side.
Ken was beside himself with guilt. He was helpless; he couldn’t do anything to help find Kira. For all he knew she was lying a ditch somewhere, dying. Luke didn’t know how to comfort him. He knew that nothing he could say could make Ken feel better. So all he did was try to remind Ken to think positive, and that everything would be alright.
Shocking to Luke, when he was at school, and Ken wasn’t there, the one he confided in was Brian; Ken’s best friend. Brian was surprisingly supportive. The way Brian looked at it; he cared about Luke because Ken cared about Luke. Luke was even more surprised. He didn’t expect Brian to be such a wonderful person.
“Why don’t we go looking for Kira ourselves?” asked Brian
“Ken said he didn’t want me to worry about this.” said Luke
“But you are?” asked Brian
“I can’t help but be worried. I hate seeing Ken like this.” answered Luke
“Then why don’t we do something about it? Let’s go look for her; me and you.” suggested Brian
“I don’t know, what if…”
‘What if, what?” asked Brian
“Nothing, let’s go.” said Luke “We can take my car.”
“Okay”
So they went together to look for Kira. They drove all over town, but no sign of her. They looked at all of the local hangout spots, and party spots. They had finally decided that they weren’t having much luck in town, so they went downtown. It wasn’t a very clean or nice place, but if she was stolen and not just missing, whoever took her probably took her there.
They searched every back and alley and old abandoned house. They had a feeling about the very last back alley that they searched, it was at the very outside of downtown. It was a mix of a bad feeling and a good feeling, and their feelings were right. They found Kira, in the back end of the alley between two trash barrels. They immediately called the police. They had told the police not to call the Johnston family. Luke wanted to tell them that they had found Kira.
The Johnston family could not be happier. But the one thing that Luke and Brian couldn’t tell them was whether or not she was alive. They didn’t want to touch her, just in case the evidence on whoever did this to her was on her body. All they could say was that her body was pretty banged up. She had bruises and cuts, and her clothes were pretty torn up.
The whole situation was pretty terrifying for everyone, including Luke and Brain, who had never seen anyone look like that before. But the good news was, Kira was alive, but just barely. Jenny and Ray could not thank Luke and Brian enough for finding her, and Ken couldn’t even find the words to thank them.
Kira was exhausted, so she was asleep for the rest of the night. She was also in a lot of pain, so she was also heavily medicated. Jenny and Ray spent the night at the hospital; they asked Ken to back to the house to watch over his younger siblings. Luke and Brian decided to also spend the night a Ken’s house, just for support with the kids, and so that way he wouldn’t be alone. Brian slept in the guest room, and Luke slept on the floor in Ken’s room.
Luke wanted so bad to just hold Ken, because he knew that he was going through a rough time. He also knew that that might lead to other things, and that that wasn’t the time for such things. The next morning, Luke and Brian helped Ken make the kids’ breakfast, then Luke went to get Lisa’s car, which was an SUV, so that way they could take all four of the kids to the hospital, Brian drove Luke’s car.
Meanwhile, Kira was giving the police her statement….
“I had missed my ride with Russell, my boyfriend, so I ended up walking home. As I was walking, a little blue car pulled up next to me. They were trying to get me to get into their car. I said no, but they weren’t giving up. So one of them got out and grabbed me. I tried to fight him, but he was too strong for me.” stated Kira
“What happened next?” asked the detective.
“They got me into their car and put a damp cloth over my face. I felt drowsy when they did that. The next thing I know I’m in a little old house. It looked like no one had lived there for a while. I was tied up on a bed, a very small one. There was only one person in the room with me; he was sitting on a small chair in the corner. After he seen me wake up, he left the room. When he came back there were three other men with them. One of them walked up to me with the same cloth and them put it to my face again. Then I woke up here in the hospital, I don’t remember anything else.”
“Well, that’s a lot of help, do you remember any of their faces or what they looked like?” asked the detective
“No, they had thin cloth masks, all I could see were the outlines and bumps on their faces.” answered Kira
“Okay, well if we have any more questions we’ll come back.” said the detective
After the detective left, her parents left. Then Ken came with the rest of the siblings. After they all said their “Hello’s” and “Get Well’s” the Kids went into the waiting room with Luke and Brian while Ken stayed and talked to Kira.
“Did you tell the police everything you know?” asked Ken
“Not exactly” said Kira
“Well then, we need to get them back here.”
“No, no, no, you can’t”
“Why not, you need to tell them everything you know”
“I don’t want to tell them everything I know” replied Kira.
“What did they do to you?” asked Ken
“They raped me Ken, each of them; one by one.” said
“No, no you’re lying.”
“What” asked Kira
“Why”
“What else would they have done if they didn’t kill me?”
“Why didn’t you tell the police this?”
“Do you think that I want some strange man knowing my personal business?” stated Kira
“He was not a strange man, Kira. He was a detective with the police. He can help you.”
“With what, can he give me my virginity back? Can he give me my strength back?”
“I’m sorry Kira that this has happened to you, and I swear to God that I will do anything in my power to help find who did this to you?”
“You don’t need to do that Ken. Live your life. Be happy with Luke.”
“How can I be happy knowing that the people who’ve done this to you are still out there?” asked Ken
“Just be happy knowing that I’m still alive, and that I’m still okay.”
“Well, if that’s what you want, then I guess that’s what I’ll give you.”
Kira was in the hospital for three more days. When she came home, she was still a little bit sore, but still being a trooper. Nothing was going to bring her down, not even everyone around her being all sympathetic and all depressing. All she wanted to do was forget about what had happened all together. But no one was letting her do that. No one around her was going to forget.

You spelled "principle" wrong. It's "Principal." like he is your pal.(right!) That poor girl! :( NO ONE deserves that! I still like your story. It has good twist and turns. KMP |
