Daily Lane: Family Turmoil pt.1
|
My story is about a neighborhood and all of the people in it. This part of it revolves around two gay teenage boys and their love. But don't worry theres more stories to come about different people in this neighborhood of Daily Lane. If you like this section of the gay story then I'll post more of it.
Daily Lane is the place to live in Southern California; the ultimate suburb neighborhood. Everybody knows each other on Daily Lane. Everybody helps each other on Daily Lane. Everybody watches out for each other on Daily Lane. Everybody was like family on Daily Lane.
Our story begins when the Wallace family moved into the old Henderson house. The Henderson’s story is kind of the neighborhood mystery. They left to go on vacation to Hawaii, and never came back. The Daily Lane residents aren’t really too proud of this mystery and like to keep it behind them. The Wallace family isn’t your everyday family. They consist of four siblings. The eldest one, Lisa, is the legal guardian of her three siblings. The reason they’ve moved is that Lisa can finally afford a better place for them to live, on Daily Lane.
Their parents died in a car crash about a year before they moved into the Henderson house. The Wallace family consists of Lisa, then Luke, then Casey, and finally Amanda. They’ve always been pretty close, but living together, and helping each other deal with the loss of their parents has helped them grow closer. They moved in about two weeks after school let out. It was the summer they were all dreading. The morning of the move in, Luke, was acting a little depressed. Lisa and Luke have always been the closest of the siblings. So, when she noticed his mood she right away wanted to know what was up.
“Hey Luke, what’s wrong. Why do you look so down.” asked Lisa.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I just really liked our old house. I grew up in that house, ya know. I just miss it is all.” replied Luke.
She knew that Luke loved their old house, so she didn’t think twice about his answer. As they were moving in, a couple of men walked up to them and introduced themselves.
“Hello, we just thought that we’d come over and welcome you to the neighborhood. I’m Jeremy, and this is my partner Robert.” said Jeremy.
“Well thank you.” She shakes their hands. “I’m Lisa Wallace and these are my little brothers and little sister. Hey you guys come over here a minute!” They come to meet the couple. “This is Luke,” He shakes their hands. “And this is Casey and Amanda.” They both shake the couple’s hands.
“It’s been very nice meeting you, but we really should get back to work.” said Lisa.
“Oh yes, of course; don’t let us keep you for too long. Maybe we can have a house warming party later this week, on us of course.”
“Oh no, I couldn’t ask you to do that.”
“Oh, but it’s a Daily lane tradition. The Last family to move in throws the next family a house warming party.” said Robert.
“Oh, well, I guess since it’s a tradition. Thank you very much.”
“It’s no problem. See you soon.” Robert said as they both walked in the direction of their house.
Lisa had never come across any gay people in the current span of her life, but she really liked these two. They seemed like really nice guys, but there was still something about them that rubbed her the wrong way. They just seemed to Stepford, but Lisa was too busy to think about it twice.
About two hours later, they had all of the right boxes in all of the right rooms. They were all tired so they decided to retire for the day. Lisa left Luke in charge of Casey and Amanda while she went to get takeout from the local Italian restaurant that she heard of on the radio. While she was gone, the doorbell rang. Luke left his younger siblings in the living room to go answer the door.
When he answered the door, there was a tall boy about his age with short black hair, and a woman, probably his mother, standing on the porch with a fruit basket in her hands.
“Hello, can I help you?” asked Luke.
“Hi, I’m Jenny Johnston, and this is my son Ken.”
“Hi I’m Luke Wallace, nice to meet you.”
“Is your mother here?” asked Jenny.
“My mother? Did you know her?” asked Luke.
“No I just wanna meet her; is she home?” asked Jenny.
“I’m sorry, but mother passed away a year ago.”
“Oh my gosh, I didn’t know. I’m so sorry. What about your father? He is around?” asked Jenny.
“I’m sorry ma’am, but my father passed away along with my mother. We’ve been being taken care of by my older sister, Lisa. She’s not here right now. She went to go get some takeout.” said Luke.
“Oh my, I’m so sorry. I’ve been so inconsiderate. Your first impression of me must be so horrible.”
“Oh, no it’s alright. You didn’t know.”
“Well, here, just a little something to welcome you to our neighborhood.” she said as she handed him the fruit basket.
“Thank you so much.” said Luke.
“If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?”
“Mom.” complained Ken.
“What?” asked Jenny.
“Don’t pry into their business.”
“Oh no it’s ok. I just turned seventeen.”
“I thought you looked about as old as my son here. So you’ll be starting your senior year after this summer.”
“Yes ma’am I will.”
“Enough of this ma’am stuff. Call me Jenny.”
“Yes Jenny I will be starting my senior year this fall.”
“Well, that’s great. Ken here could always use some more friends. ”
“Mom, not everyone is like me. You can’t make friends for me.” said Ken.
“Well you can’t blame me for trying. Anyway, we’re keeping up too much of your time. We’ll see you at you house warming party. Oh and here’s our home number. If you need anything just call.”
“Okay, well thank you again for the present.”
The mother and son left and Luke closed the door. Luke thought that it was kind of strange how the mother was pushing a friendship between him and her son. Ken did seem like a nice guy though. A few minutes later Lisa got back with the takeout, and saw the fruit basket on the kitchen counter. She wondered what it was, but didn’t think twice about it. She didn’t even ask Luke what it was.
They all sat on the floor eating takeout. It was pretty much silent and awkward. They weren’t all used to the new house yet. It was empty, it was quiet; it wasn’t what they were used o with their old house. The one who seemed to hate it the most was Amanda. She was the youngest so she didn’t really know another way to deal with the move other than to hate it.
