“Yes, I do.”? What was that suppose to mean? “What did Cody ask you?” I asked Tanner.
“Oh, nothing. Just a guy thing.” He smiled, stood up, and ruffled Cody’s hair. “So do you want to get going to the park?” He went inside her still open car door, unlocked the locks and got Cody’s car seat. He quickly opened his car and strapped it in there. “Come on, buddy. Hop inside.”
Cody leaped inside and Tanner strapped him in. I couldn’t help the smile forming on my face. I locked my car doors and got in the passenger seat in Tanner’s BMW.
It was about a 10 minuet ride to the city park. When we got there, we walked to the main jungle gym and Cody climbed it, setting his baseball stuff by a shaded tree.
“Be careful, Cody, okay?” I yelled and he just laughed.
A few minuets later, I was sitting down beside Cody’s baseball stuff and was watching how Tanner handled Cody. He was really nice. He took care of him nicely. “Monique!” I heard Cody yell and I turned and saw him run toward me, Tanner right behind him. Cody suddenly tripped and fell down into the floor of rocks.
He sat up, crying and holding his leg. I quickly stood up and ran to him. “Oh my god, Cody. Are you alright, baby?” I asked. Cody’s knee was scratched and was bleeding.
Tanner was beside me then and was examining the scratch. “It’s just a scratch,” he said. “You’ll be fine, buddy. Okay? Let’s just wipe the blood off.” He took the edge of his t-shirt and wiped the blood off.
Cody stopped crying. Surprisingly, he reached up and wrapped his arms around Tanner’s neck. Tanner wrapped his arms around his waist. “Awh, Cody.” Tanner said.
Tanner keeps surprising me one time after another. Tanner picked Cody up. “We should get you home now.” He walked over the tree and picked up the baseball and glove and then looked at me. “Do you mind holding these?” he asked and I held out my right hand to take it.
We walked towards the car, Cody still on Tanner’s left arm. Tanner suddenly reached over and took her left hand. She looked at him surprised, and he winked. All I could do was squeeze his hand and move closer as we walk.
When we reached the car, I didn’t want to let his hand go. But I had to because he had to strap Cody in.
Half way home, Cody fell asleep. So I turned the radio on and the song ‘Bleeding Love’ by Liana Lewis (DON’T KNOW IF THE ARTIST IS RIGHT). I blushed for some reason. I loved this song and now every time she hears it, it’s going to remind her of Tanner.
At a red light, he –again—reached for my left hand. But this time, he lifted it up and kissed it. I can feel my neck getting hot. I suddenly felt him pulling on it. And before I knew it, I was leaning forward and he was an inch away to kiss me when I jumped because of a car horn. The light had turned green.
I nervously laughed and went back to my seat. He though was not smiling. He turned back to the road. When we go to my house, I got out and went to the backseat to take Cody. “Do you want me to carry him in?” Tanner asked, Slipping out of his door.
“No, thank you. I got it covered. Will you just please throw the baseball stuff on the grass?” He did what he was told and walked me to the front porch.
I gave him a quick hug, though it was kinda hard. A 3 year old was in my arms, for god’s sake. I was about to slip my key in when he said my name. “Monique?” I turned. “Yeah?”
Before I even knew what was going on, he leaned forward and quickly, but sweetly, barely kissed me. He backed up and finally, finally smiled. “Nothing. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Pleassee tell me what you think kayy?
