“Hey, Roxanne.” Trevor greeted and gave her a little wave. He looked awful. His eyes were bloodshot, his whole body was sickly pale, his blue eyes lost its shine and his old beautiful smile was in a deep sad frown.
“Trevor.” Roxanne said. She couldn’t believe it, he was here. Here. With her, right this moment. It squeezed her heart. “What are you doing here? How…why did y—“ She was cut of when he stepped closer. She took a step back.
“I followed you home. But then when I got to your house, your dad said you were here. So I drove here with one of your dads cars.” He sighed then sucked in a breath. “I’ve been up for 4 days. I can’t sleep. All I ate in the last 106 hours was airline food, coffe and some muffins. I’ve been crying every night and I’ve been thinking of the baby that I made you lose. I don’t know what to do…”
Roxanne didn’t say anything. She looked at the chain of silver in her palm, forcing herself not to cry. “What are you trying to say?” she whispered out. “Are you trying to make me feel bad about what I did to you? Am I suppose to say I’m sorry? If that’s what you want. Just walk away, Trevor.”
Trevor took a step forward. He looked at her and tried to reach for her hand but she back away another step. “I deserve everything you did to me. Your not suppose to say sorry. I am. I’m so sorry, Roxy. You don’t know how sorry I am. I don’t care if you never talk to me but I just want you to please believe me when I say that I’m truly sorry.”
Roxanne looked up at him. “Are you serious?” she asked.
“Yes, and I love you so much. I’ve never loved anyone else. I’m sorry for having sex with Dana, I swear it was just physical attraction, I’m sorry for not protecting you and yelling at you and treating you like whatever.”
“Yeah…” Roxanne, look at him. This is your second chance to be with him. Do you really want to throw it away?
Trevor looked at her, searching her eyes, expecting to hear more than just a ‘Yeah…’. “Come on, Roxy. What are you doing? Yell at me. Slap me, hit me or something. Tell me you hate me and never want to see me again.”
Roxanne didn’t budge an inch, she just looked at him with hurt in her eyes.
Trevor’s heart fell. It literally stopped beating for about 3 seconds. It hurt a lot. Did you ever get that feeling that someone was squeezing your heart and wont stop until you start crying just because? It’s not physical hurt its more like emotional hurt.
Trevor took a deep breath, trying to get back the eveness of his breathing and backed away. He forced a smile and a laugh. “Ha. I can’t believe I just paid almost a thousand bucks just to go here to say I’m sorry. What was I thinking? I knew you woulnd’t forgive me. Have you noticed how much I’ve been an ass lately? Yea, I noticed that too. I’ll just go rent a motel or something and plan a ticket to leave tomorrow.”
He started walking backwards then waved. Forcing another laugh, his eyes turned watery. “I’ll see you around, Rox. You keep that necklace okay? Bye.”
Turning around, he rubbed his face with his hands then ran to his car. He was backing away from the drive way when he saw a figure behind Mr. Dains’ car. He looked at it and got out of the car.
Awh. It’s almost done!
