“Is the deed done, sweet Adrian? Have you kept her from ever waking?” Selene asked as Adrian made his way through the door and to her side.

“No, miss, but all our worries shall soon be over,” Adrian replied, an overt smugness in his voice, Selene did not like the tone.

Selene turned to face Adrian, smiling at him, brushing some of his light brown hair out of his eyes, her other hand stuck in a pocket connected to her belt, she was in her hunting outfit. “I’m sure of that, Adrian, I am sure of that.” Selene jabbed out at him with the hand that had been in the pocket, a small silver dagger now residing in it, the dagger made contact with him, he hadn’t moved in time. The dagger pushed through straight to his heart, Selene grinned smugly, “It hurts doesn’t it?” She asked him, letting out a short, malicious laugh. “Silver works on more than Lycanthropes, Adrian, your precious Tyra learned that the hard way…” Selene released the knife, letting Adrian stumble back a moment before he pulled out the blade, throwing it weakly at her, and collapsing on the ground. Selene was laughing hysterically by this point, but her laughter turned into a bloodcurdling scream as the knife burned into her flesh, the silver burning her badly, the sign of a night crawler. A moment later Tyra was behind her, a blade held to Selene’s neck.

“Silver hurts, doesn’t it?” Tyra asked in a mocking tone, “Works on more than just Lycanthropes, eh, night crawler? My death would have completed your turning, am I correct? It would have assured you as head of the coven? Tell me, why wait the full five hundred years? Why not kill me when I started to sleep? Why bother letting me reach full strength?” Tyra asked, pressing the blade harder against Selene’s neck, she gave her no time to respond, “That’s what makes us different, Selene, I don’t pass up perfect moments, I utilize them, much like this one.” Tyra pressed the blade harder against Selene’s throat cutting in, blood starting to trickle out, "Any last words, Selene?”

“Yes… You have failed, the coven is on your side, but your dear Adrian is on mine. I notice things, Tyra, you don’t, and that’s what separates us. I could tell you things about him that you had no idea of. I could tell you, but I think I’ll let curiosity take its course instead.” With that Selene closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable to take place. Tyra pressed the blade down fully, slowly removing Selene’s head from her shoulders letting her body fall limply to the floor.

“Adrian…” Tyra muttered as she hurried to him, she knew it was no use. Vamphyres could heal themselves to an extent, and heal others, but they could never heal a wound done with silver. Adrian hadn’t died, but it was certain he would not last through the day; Tyra kneeled down, bringing her blade to Adrian’s neck. Adrian opened his eyes, looking up at Tyra, his face full of sorrow.

“I couldn’t…I’m sorry, Tyra…” he muttered as he lay there, Tyra just looked down on him, unable to behead such a good friend. “She was right, you know… There are things you never picked up on, but none of that matters now… You were right, I was no match for her…”

“Then tell me, what did I not understand, please, Adrian.”

“I always thought you more than a friend, Tyra, please, prove me right, end it.” Adrian muttered, looking up at Tyra, a longing look in his eyes. Tyra pulled out a small pistol, still unable to cut off his head.

“I will… I am so sorry, Adrian, I should not have allowed this…It’s my fault…” A few tears dropped from her cheeks as she dropped her knife, bending over to give him a long hug and a kiss on the forehead, as many do with a dead family member, she sat back up, and aimed as carefully as she could with her shaky hands. “I’m so sorry…” she muttered one last time, she closed her eyes and pulled the trigger, the last memories of him fading away, as does when a day walker perishes for the last time. She opened her eyes quickly, unbelieving that he had become a day walker, yet his face was smiling and his eyes were closed, his body still and cold in death. Tyra dropped her gun and ran to her room.
