The Worst Vacation-The Drive-Chpt. 1
|
It was a dark, rainy night as they all camped out in Raven's living room. Edward had gotten this invitation about a week ago to this place that none of them had ever heard of. So, they decided that they would all go together. They were at Ray's house because Alexander wouldn't let Bella into his and Ed's house, then the second choice was to stay at Bella's because she was going out with Edward, but she wouldn't let Alexander into her house, so they were at Raven's.
“I can't believe she had to come.” Said Alexander. Him and Bella were the only ones out of the ten who didn't really get along, besides Michelle who barely got along with anyone. Anyways, they had to put up with each other because Alex was going out will Bella's best friend, Raven, and Bella was going out with Alex's brother, Edward.
“Well bro, I was the one who got the invite, so of course my girl is coming.” Edward pointed out, putting his arm around Bella.
“Thanks.” Bella giggled a little, moving her head to kiss his cheek.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever, just none of that mushy crap.” Alex said.
“Why not? You do with Ray!” Bella would have gotten up, but Edward held her closer and tighter to him.
“Would you guys stop fighting for once?” David asked. He hated when his friends fought, especially Alexander and Bella because they were always at each other.
“David's right. Why don't we just go to bed now. We have an early start tomorrow.” Going out with David really rubbed off on Amanda. So now she was starting to help in separating them, as long as David said something first.
“They are both right, you know.” Michelle cut in, of course.
“Shut up Michelle, no one asked you.” Alex snapped at her, getting a nice hit in the arm by Raven.
“Why are you always snappy when Bells is around?” Ray asked him. “You're always really nice when she isn't. I still don't know why you guys hate each other so much.”
Alex opened his mouth to reply when Bella interrupted. “Yes, why are you so mean to me?” She asked harshly.
“Why don't you just shut up and let me answer my girlfriend!” Alexander said, getting mad.
“Come on, let's just go to bed. Michael and I really need to rest since we're the ones driving tomorrow, and I don't see how anyone could possibly sleep with you two bickering.”
“Why don't you just stay out of it.” Alex sneered.
“Alex! Stop it! She's right. Just stop fighting with Bells and try to get some sleep.” Raven told him, trying to get him to lay down.
The way they worked who was sleeping where was that Bella and Raven wanted to be next to each other and their boyfriends, and that way Alex and Bella weren't next to each other either. Also, the only one who wanted to sleep beside Michelle and her obnoxious alarm clock was Michael, who David wanted to sleep next to. Then Amanda would sleep next to David, Diana wanted to sleep next to Amanda, and Joey next to her and Edward.
So you had Alexander sleeping first, followed by Raven and Bella next to Edward. With Joey next to Edward and Diana next to him. Amanda was next to her, David next, with Michael and then, finally, Michelle on the other end.
“Fine, what ever. Only for you though.” Alex said, kissing Ray once before laying down and pulling the blankets over his head.
After a moment of silence, they all were laying down with the lights off.
They went to bed around ten, and then around twelve Bella woke them all up screaming. It hadn't been the first time she had woken up crying and screaming, but no one besides Ed and Ray knew she did.
The two beside her woke up right away. Edward wrapped his arms around her and let her cry while Raven got up to get her some water.
“What on Earth are you screaming about?!” Alex asked, ignoring his brothers glances at him.
“Alex, not now.” Raven said, coming back in and handing Ed the plastic cup to help Bella drink it with her shaking hands.
The rest of the group was up and watching the scene before them.
“We'll be right back.” Edward said, kneeling, picking Bella up, and carrying her into the bathroom. He set her down on the closed toilet seat and knelt down next to her.
“Hey, Bells, you alright? What was the dream about this time?” He was really worried for his girlfriend.
“DREAM?!” Bella yelled. “What dream?! That was no dream! That was a nightmare!”
“Shh! It's okay Bells, it'll all be okay.” Edward said, wrapping both arms around her and he held her as she cried.
Everyone was listening in right next to the door except, obviously, Alexander. When they heard Bella yelling they backed slightly away.
“Guys, go back to your sleeping bags.” Raven said, cracking the door open and slipping into the bathroom. “Hey Bells, you okay?” She asked softly.
“She just fell asleep.” Edward whispered to Raven. He picked her up carefully and let Ray open the door for him.
“Is she okay?” Amanda asked, also really worried, as everyone except Alexander was, about her friend.
“Yeah, she'll be fine.” Edward answered her. He laid her down where she was sleeping, dried her tear streaked face, and covered her up. “Let's just all get back to sleep.” With that, he kissed Bella's forehead and laid back down beside her.
“He's right.” Raven nodded, also laying down. “We need to just go back to sleep.” She paused and everyone thought she was done speaking. “Oh, and Alex. Don't say anything.” It was obvious that she was tired, and she knew Alexander so well she knew he was about to say something.
“Everyone in their bed?” Ray asked before clapping her hands twice. The lights were, once again, off, and everyone fell back asleep as if nothing had happened.
The alarm clock went off at four thirty, and half of them were fighting to get up.
Eventually, everyone was up and now fighting for the bathroom. They all needed to brush, change, and go to the bathroom. Also, Michelle had to take a shower to wake up since she was going to be the first one driving.
“Alright, everyone ready?” Michelle asked, grabbing her one little bag. They had packed the night before, but each of them had one small over-night bag with stuff that they would need between the time they packed and the time that they would leave.
“Come on, let's get on the road.” Unsurprisingly, Michelle was the only one who was actually awake. “Now, remember the seating arrangements?” Also unsurprisingly, she had a seating arrangement picked out. Michelle was all about order and being on a schedule. Thankfully they had gotten a van because of how many people that were going, although it still was extremely crammed.
Michelle was in the drivers seat with Michael in the passengers seat. Then, in the middle row of seats, it was Raven, Amanda, then Diana. Then, in the back row, it was Joey, Edward, Bella, Alexander, and David, in that pacific order.
“I don't see why we couldn't have just picked out our own seats.” Alex sneered, extremely unhappy about having to sit next to Bella the whole two days they would be on the road. However, thankfully they were going to be stopping at a hotel for the night.
“Be quiet, you know how Michelle likes her order.” Edward said. “Besides, I don't see how you could not like Bells. She's perfectly amazing.” Since Bella was right in front of him at the time, he hugged her from behind and kissed her neck.
“Stop that!” Bella giggled. She used to blush whenever he was like that in front of their friends, but she got used to it and now she just giggled a lot, as always.
“Oh please, I think I'm ganna be sick.” Alex said, pretending to gag.
“Alright people, stop playing around and get into the car. We are on a schedule, remember that. We should get to the hotel as fast as we can so we can all rest. It's exactly in the middle between here and our destination.
“I agree, we should get there as fast as possible.” Alex smirked, knowing that the sooner they got there then the sooner that he could get away from having to sit next to Bella.
“I mean, it'll still take a really long time, of course, but anyways. Let's get in.” Michelle watched as they got in so that she knew they were in the order that she wanted them to be in.
First one in was Joey, he went and sat down without a word. Then Edward sat next to him, also without a word. Bella went in right after him and sat as close to her boyfriend as she could. Next, Alexander had to be practically pushed into the car to sit next to Bella, and she tried moving even closer to Ed. Then David went in, also without word. Next Raven got into the middle row, followed by Amanda and Diana, all without a complaint. Then Michael got in, and finally Michelle got into the drivers seat.
“Ready?” She asked, buckling her seatbelt and starting the car.
They were on the highway towards their destination at about five thirty, just as Michelle had planned. “Alright guys! We're on schedule!” Of course, that made her happy and she was pushing the speeding limit as it was, but no one really cared.
Actually, everyone was asleep. Everyone, that is, except for Alex and Bella, who still were not happy about having to sit next to each other.
“Hey, Michael. Mike, come on, wake up!” Michelle removed one hand from the steering wheel to shake Michael awake.
“What? What is it?” He asked, rubbing his fist to his eyes to wake up.
“We're almost out of gas and I'm getting tired. According to this map we should be at a gas station in about two miles, do you think we could switch then?” She asked, checking the gas monitor again.
“Okay, that'll be fine.” He groaned. “Then we can also all go to the bathroom and get something to eat.” Mike said.
“Wait, you mean I'll be able to get away from this...girl, for a while?” Alexander asked excitedly.
“Oh please, like it's any fun having to sit next to you.” Bella exclaimed.
“It should be. I mean, who wouldn't like me?”
“Would you just-- --” Bella started but everyone else was starting to wake up and she knew that Ed and Ray, along with everybody else, hated them fighting.
“Hey baby. Your not fighting with my bro again, are you?” Edward asked, putting his hand on hers and kissing her cheek.
“No, of course not.” Bella giggled.
“Of course she is, dude. The bit-- --”
“Shut up! Don't you dare call her that!” Edward shouted, hitting Alexander.
“Thank goodness. Look here everyone, we're at the gas station. Everybody out for a break.” Michelle said, trying to stop the arguing.
“Yes, thank god! I can finally get away from her, even if it is only for a short time.” Alex said.
As soon as they opened the door, Alexander was climbing over David to get out.
“Hey, can't you wait?!” David asked, pushing him off him.
“No, I want away from her as soon as possible.” He answered. Also, because of David pushing him, he fell out of the car and hit his head on the cement of the gas station.
“Oh...my...god! Alex!” Raven shrieked, now climbing over Amanda and Diana to get to her boyfriend. “Come on, say something! Are you alright? David, if he's at all injured, in any way, I swear you will pay for this!” She swore.
“I'm alright, baby. Don't worry.” Alex said, letting Ray help pull him up.
After they had all gone to the bathroom and gotten something to snack on until lunch, it was back into the car. However, this time Michael was in the drivers seat and Michelle was in the passenger seat.
The only other difference, besides who was driving, was that everyone was now awake and chattering.
“Um, guys. I hate to be the rain on a sunny day, but the car isn't working.” Mike said. Now that everybody was quiet you could really hear the engine failing to start.
“What are we going to do?” Michelle asked.
“Chill guys. We're at a gas station, we can just have them repair the car.” Edward said, earning himself a kiss on the cheek from Bella.
“You're so smart, my precious love.” She whispered just loud enough for him to hear with Ed putting his arm around her to pull her closer.
So they got the car fixed and were on their way...again. Also, thankfully, there was no more problems and they made it safely to the hotel.
It was at least eleven, eleven thirty by the time they were actually at the hotel, but that didn't really matter.
“Okay, get your one bag and the boys can get the clothes bags.” Michelle ordered. The way they did it was each couple had one bag with their clothes and such in it, so not everyone had a bag. “Oh, and try to be quiet. Remember it's late and people are probably sleeping by now.” She said as they were walking into the room.
They had ordered three rooms, two of which had two queen beds, and one of them only had one queen sized bed. Michelle and Michael had the one with one bed since they were the ones driving. Bella, Edward, Raven, and Alexander had one of the rooms. Then Amanda, David, Diana, and Joey had the other room.
Once everyone was signed in, the group went up to their rooms, which were right next to each other.
In Michelle and Michael's room, they got into their room, got ready for bed, and went to sleep without delay. After all, it was them who had to drive and it was Michelle who had to wake everyone up.
In Amanda's, David's, Diana's, and Joey's room, they had a similar routine. Of course they had more people so it took a little longer to get settled down. Then, once the lights were off they stayed up and talked for a little while before actually going to sleep.
Then, in Bella's, Edward's, Raven's, and Alexander's room, it was quiet different. Bella and Alex wouldn't stop fighting and it was up to Edward and Raven to keep them from clawing each others eyes out. It was at least one by the time that group got into the bed and was asleep.
At four thirty, once again, they were up. Bella and Alex were supper grouchy from not sleeping much the night before, both because they were so uncomfortable with having to share a room, and then having to sit next to each other again once they awoke.
However, Edward and Raven had arranged a plan so they wouldn't run into each other in the room so that they could get on the road and to their destination sooner and faster.
Michelle was going out to the car to check the luggage while the others finished packing their over night bags. However, as soon as she got out to where the car was a huge scream echoed around the parking lot.
Everyone came running, and the nine other friends fought their way to their other friend. “What the h-” Alex started, still in a bad mood, until he saw that all of their luggage was lying around with nothing left in the car.
“Oh...” Bella started.
“My...” Raven picked up.
“God!” Amanda finished.
“Uh, yeah! What are we going to do? Everything is so scattered.” Michelle said, starting to hyperventilate.
“Okay everybody. Shows over, get back to your business!” Michael ordered. He went over to Michelle and walked her into the lobby of the hotel.
Without word, the rest of the gang started to repack everything, so that when Michelle came back down to earth they would be ready to go.
Eventually, all luggage and everything was packed up again. Michelle and Michael came back, but Mike took the drivers seat so they could get back on schedule since Michelle would never speed in a million years.
Even Alex and Bella didn't argue for the sake of Michelle. No one wanted to have their head bitten off at her wrath.
About half way on the second day, they pulled over and Michelle and Michael switched, so Michelle was once again driving. “Alright guys, we're almost back on schedule. Every thing's alright, now lets get the show on the road!” She exclaimed excitedly.
With about twenty minutes left to drive, there was a bit of an accident.
Another car was just within eyesight coming down a hill. Then, out of the forest, a deer ran out into the car's path. The other car veered to the wrong side of the road and the collision was horrible!
It was on back-roads to a mostly deserted place, so no one was near, and there was no cell service.
Joey and Raven were blasted to one side, and landed together, since they were both on the same end. Also, David, Diana and Mike were blasted to the other side, since they were on the other side. However, even though Michelle was on one of the sides, it looked like the driver didn't have very good luck.
Joey was the first to get up, with many cuts and scars, including a very severe cut on his head, with blood trickling down the whole side of his face. He saw Ray right beside him, and helped him up. “Hey, you okay?” He asked her.
“Yea, I'm fine. Maybe a few broken ribs, but I'll worry about that after we make sure everyone else is alright.” Raven said, starting to walk towards the rubble left from the crash, holding her rib cage. “I can't believe this happened.” She whispered, mostly to herself, looking at the after effect from the disaster.
“Maybe some other will be lucky like we were, on the other side.” Joey said, and they were careful with walking on the messed up car pieces.
“Looks like they had the same idea we had.” Joey said, as they saw Mike, Diana, and David. “Hey guys, over here!” He yelled, waving his hands above his head.
Once they got together, then they counted who was there. “We're still missing a lot of people.” Mike said. “Wait, Michelle was on your side, why isn't she with you?” He asked.
“We didn't see her.” Raven said, just now realizing it now that is was said.
“But she's probably alright. Let's look for the rest of them.” David said, trying to stay positive, as usual.
“Yea, yea. Let's...” Mike said, getting up and starting to look around. When he took a few steps, he head someone groan under him and quickly jumped up and over, to get off of them. “Oh, who's there?” He asked, starting to move a few of the bent up car pieces.
It had turned out to be Edward on top of Alex, who was right on top of Bella. The way that worked was Bella was laying down, facing up, with Alex directly on top of her, facing her and everything, and Ed sideways on top of them, facing up.
All of them were helped up, and Bella was unconscious, so Edward wouldn't leave her side for anything, waiting for her to wake up.
Diana was found close to them, relatively unharmed, and Michelle was found dead.
They all gathered around to double check that everyone was there and find out who was hurt, where they were hurt, and how badly.
“Okay, I think we have everyone.” Michael said, trying to take the lead like Michelle had, but almost crying, as everyone else was, because of her death. “Is...is everyone alright?” He asked, wiping a single tear that escaped from his eye.
“My ribs are most likely broken.” Raven said, sitting by the still unconscious Bella, with Edward on the other side of her.
“My arm's probably broken, and it looks like Bella's leg is broken.” Edward said, putting his hand on his girlfriend's forehead.
“I just have scratches, nothing major though.” Alex smirked.
“I can't feel my wrist or hand.” Amanda sighed. This was a disaster!
“My...asthma...can...barely...breathe...” David said. He had been gasping for air for a while now, and every time he would breathe in, it got worse.
“My ankles busted.” Diana said, which was obvious since it was so swollen.
“I just got a few, really bad cuts, but that's it.” Joey put in.
“Alright...we know Michelle is...d-dea-dead...” Michael's voice broke on the last word.
“What about you, is anything hurt on you?” Joey asked.
“A piece of the car got my shoulder, I can barely move it, but it's fine.” Mike answered.
Everyone was sad about Michelle's death, and worried that Bella might not wake up, but they knew that they had to stick together and walk the rest of the way to the place and get help.
“Joey, why don't you help Diana walked, because of her busted ankle. Alex, can you please carry Bella.”
“No, why don't we just leave her. Hopefully she won't even wake up.” He sneered.
“If you were unconscious, would you want us to leave you and say we hoped you never woke up?” Ed paused, studying his brother's reaction. “Exactly what I thought. Now just pick her up and carry her so we can get there faster.”
“Whatever.” Alexander reluctantly picked her unmoving body up and started walking.
Everyone was silent, and some of them crying from the events of the day. First the luggage being strewn everywhere, then the crash. What could possibly happen next...?
But another death...
About a fourth of the way from where the car had crashed and their destination, David collapsed. His asthma had been getting worse and worse, but there was nothing that they could really do about it. When he did, it was suddenly and everyone stopped dead in their tracks. After it semi-set in, one by one they started kneeling beside their newly passed out friend.
“David! David!” Amanda started saying frantically, trying to shake him with her good hand, but he wouldn't wake.
“Barely any pulse.” Edward said sadly, hand on David's wrist.
“Nooo!” Amanda yelled, burying her face in her dead boyfriend's chest. “It can't be!” She mumbled through tears.
Everyone else had started crying. First Michelle had died in the crash, now it was David, and Bella still hadn't woken up.
Edward looked over over all his friends, at all the injuries and all. When his eyes looked at Alexander, he didn't see Bella. “Man, where's Bells?” He asked.
“Oh, I dropped her over there.” Alex answered literally, pointing over to the heap bloody clothes a few feet away from them.
“What the..” Edward started, scrambling over to his girlfriend to lay her straight and make sure nothing else had been hurt. “How could you?”
“Don't ask me. You're the one who told me to carry her, knowing how unwilling I was.”
Edward jumped towards Alex and started punching him with his good hand.
“Stop it!” Michael yelled. “We can't turn against each other! Two are already dead, we don't need y'all beating each other up!” Four were holding Alex back, who had started trying to punch back, and three were holding Edward back, who was fighting back tears.
Once everything was settled for the most part, although they were still extremely sad about the two losses they had suffered so far, they started walking again, Alexander still carrying Bella.
Another fourth of the way there, so they were halfway from where their car laid in rubble, Alexander stopped.
“Yo, bro, what's up?” Edward asked.
“I think Bella's waking up.” This time Alex laid her down gently instead of dropping her.
“Really?” Ed was by her side as fast as he could be as she slowly opened her eyes.
Everyone else started gathering around while Bella tried talking, but each attempt ended in failure.
“Shh, it's alright. Save your voice.” Edward said, placing his hand on Bella's cheek, whipping away a few tears that had started to fall down her face.
Bella just barely nodded and closed her eyes again.
“There, she's awake. Now do I still need to carry her?” Alex complained.
“Yes! She can't even talk, how do you expect her to walk?!” Edward said, and watched as Alexander reluctantly picked up Bella again.
“Look guys, we're halfway there.” Amanda said, trying to be the peace maker that David had been, but still too upset to try to be positive.
“Yeah, let's just keep going.” Michael said.
So they were on their way again, waiting to find out what would happen next, and to whom it would happen to.
Then, out of no where, when they were almost there, gunshots sounded out of no where. Everyone ducked and Edward made sure that Bella was safe and in no way able to get hurt, and made sure the others were safe too. However, the bullet did hit one person...
The blonde.
The bullet had hit Diana, and Joey, along with everyone else, dropped down next to her, absolutely speechless and in shock. It was the third death out of ten friends, and they hadn't even gotten to their destination yet. The he started wondering exactly what kind of place they were going to.
