The Kiss part 5
|
He sat still, the fire warming his back, and listened to the strange girl, Allyson, tell her story. She was from some other place. A place he knew nothing of, and yet he couldn’t help but being certain that her words were true.
He watched the girl as she spoke. He’d never seen red hair before; everything about her was new and strange. She sat with her knees pulled up to her chin, and he wondered why.
After she finished her story, Allyson asked. “ Where am I, anyway?”
“ Isolde,” said Vaan. “ In the Garren Forest, near Sapienta.” He saw the girl pout a little and sigh. “ Well that’s helpful.” She said, and he caught her sarcasm. “ Do have any idea how I can get back to my own world?” She asked. Vaan answered truthfully. “ No. “
The girl fell into a disappointed silence, which he did not protest. He needed to think. He turned his back to her to face the fire again. What am I going to do with her? I can’t help her any. What am I going to do?
His thoughts drifted across many possibilities all of which were pointless and out of the question. He became so entangled in his own thoughts that he forgot completely about the lateness of the hour.
He snapped back to reality when he heard a ferocious yawn come from the girl who sat behind him. “ Its late,’ said Vaan simply. “ Do you want the bed or the bench?”
Vaan stood up and began pulling out extra blankets. “ I don’t wan to take your bed.” Said Allyson. “ Its alright, “ replied Vaan. “ You’ve already lent me your cloths and given me a dry place to stay, it’s too much.” She said. Vaan shrugged. “ Okay, you get the bench.”
Vaan dropped the blankets on the bench. Well I tried. He threw a few more logs in the fire not noticing that Allyson looked totally shocked.
Vaan took off his shirt and put it on the bed post at the foot of the bed. He crawled under the covers, completely unconcerned for the girl who still sat on the bench trying to figure out how to make solid hard wood comfortable for sleeping.
