The New Breed Part 13

Midnight paced anxiously in the waiting room of the hospital. As she caught a glimse of the doctor at the end of the hallway, she took off running without telling Moonrise, who was sitting right behind her.

"How is he doctor?" Midnight's voice gave her worry away.

"Yes he's fine. He suffered some mild concussions and had a few bruises. You can go see him now if you want. Room 324."

"Thank you doctor. Moonrise! Come on! We're going to room 324! Kraven's O.K.!!" Midnight took off down the hallway, pracitally flying, not caring that humans were there. She didn't stop until she was right at the foot of his bed. Kraven felt the breeze that Midnight made with her amazing speed and opened his eyes.

"You look like you've seen a dead man, Midnight." Kraven teased. A smile spread across Midnight's face, glad that he was consious.

"A few more concussions and I would be. You scared the living crap outta me you know that? You shouldn't have gotten in the way. You know I'm a vampire now. a New Breed vampire at that. I should have been the one protecting you."

"Midnight, don't beat yourself up over that. I did what I did out of pure instinct. Somoleon wasn't gonna get you if I could help it....."

"That's just it. You were knocked out of the way so easily. Besides I inujured him pretty bad. Somehow fire and ice came from my hands. One came so close to his heart, missed by only an inch. He disappeared before I could finish thay low life off."

Kraven closed his eyes and laid his bed on the pillow, "A move like that would knock Somoleon out of commission for at least three days. As soon as my body heals it's self we're outta here. Just stay with me for the night and we'll gone shortly after midnight."

"What about Midnight?" Moonrise asked. Midnight and Kraven laughed, "Let me fill you in."

As the digital beeped 12:00 midnight, Kraven was getting his things together. He waited until he was ready to leave before he woke up Midnight. As she stirred, Kraven walked over to window and opened it as wide as it would allow. Midnight ran to Kraven's side and took his hand. Smiling at each other, they flew off into the clear starry sky as the full moon shone above them.

"So what's the plan? Somoleon couldn't have got far. It's only been twelve hours since you said he disappeared." Kraven was as determined as ever to destroy Somoleon.

"Well I know where his human residence is. We could go there and start searching, and since I know where he keeps everything, it shouldn't be very hard to find him."

Moonrise agreed, "Yeah sounds like a plan to me. I think we should grab a few things just in case and leave within the next hour."

Kraven thought through it carefully, "Yeah sounds good."

Midnight nodded and ran into her room to start gathering somethings. She flung her cell, a mini bible for luck, and a few other things. When she got downstairs and saw that no one else was ready, she decided to go outside and test her powers. She ran blindly into the backyard and threw her bag a few feet back. She then calmed herself and concentrated on earth. Midnight then stretched her hand and huge rocks flew from her hands into the meadow three streets over.

Next Midnight contrated on lightening, her favorite part of thunderstorms. She aimed her now anxious hand towards the vast blue sky overhead. Then from the center of her hand a huge bolt of heart stopping lightening sprang forth. Little did she know, Somoleon was in crouching in the shrubbery nearby, face horror-stricken.
