Twisted Life-Chapter Three
|
The next thing I knew, I was running towards Courtney. The spectator was yelling into the microphone not to panic as he quickly dialed 9-1-1. An ambulance arived to take Courtney to the hospital, I kissed her on the cheek and climbed in next to her. As we rode to the nearby emergency room, I tried to comfort her event though she was unconcious. I whispered things to her about how it will be so much better once this is over. A local stables manager offered to take Trinity to her stable and seek her immediate veterinary care. We arrived at the emergency room to a lot of noise and raquet being made, everyone was fussing over Courtney. Aunt Leiah was already there, she was sobbing silently into her hands as the medical staffed brought Courtney to the E.R. We stalked after them quickly, upon reaching the E.R. Courtney was laid down on to a bed, and the medical staff immediately left the room to seek a nurse, to check her status. The nurse arrived with a bunch of different machines and checked everything, murmuring under her breath. After a few minutes she spoke, 'this doesn't look good, she is in a very bad way. She is not only unconscious she is in a coma.' Aunt Leiah stared shocked at the nurse and wailed like a bawling baby. There were rushes of panic around the room, the nurse spoke 'I'll leave you all alone for now'. As she left, the room was deadly quiet. Aunt Leiah sat crying for a few seconds before shakily speaking 'I can't beleive it, I knew this would happen...' Aunt Leiah sank on to the bed next to Courtney's and cried herself to sleep. As the two were sleeping peacefully, I talked gently to them. The nurse came back several hours later, long after I had fallen asleep. I woke up the next morning, Courtney's breathing was no longer steady as it once had been. I screamed and ran out of the hospital ward, shrieking for a nurse. The nurse came, tearing into the room. She took Courtney's pulse and listened for her heartbeat...there was one...slight. It slowly died away, when it was gone the nurse spoke 'We've lost her, I'm so sorry.' I screamed and shrieked as I burst into tears, she was like a sister to me! This couldn't be happening! Aunt Leiah woke from all the noise panicking, 'what's going on!' she cried, but as she looked up at our grave faces she knew. We silently mourned over our beloved Courtney, feeling so sorry this came to be.
***
A month later we attended her funeral with all her friends and family, we cried once more. But these were tears of sorrow along mingled with those that signified a new beginning, or was it truly the end of a new beginning? Only time would tell for sure...but one thing I was positive of, I was just a teen, just Angie...this was a Twisted Life that would never be the same again.
