Twisted Life-Chapter One

Tragedy Created on 2-27-08 Views(24) Story Rating G

Angie woke up to the scent of her mother's eggs frying in the kitchen. She sniffed the sweet smell in the air, and rested her head on her pillow. She heard the gentle patter of the soft rain on the windowsill. Then quiet, footsteps on the stairs. a knock on her door, before her mother called out "Angie...are you up? I'll drive you to Courtney's in a half an hour, breakfast is ready!" Angie smiled, and called back "I'll be right down mom." She swung herself from her bed and picked out her horse clothes out of her closet. She hurriedly changed, opened her door, and walked quickly down the stairs. "Good morning mom" Angie yawned as she gave her mom a good-morning hug and a kiss. "Good morning sweet heart, now hurry up and eat! Courtney won't want you late for her horse show. You're riding Mia, right?" Angie paused for a second before calmly stating "Yes. I beleive so." She sat down at the table as her mother rested a plate full of eggs, bacon, and a tall glass of orange juice in front of her. Angie silently ate, while thinking about how much fun the day would bring. When Angie had finished her delicious breakfast she washed the plates and grabbed her purse. "Mom! I'm ready to go. Can I drive?" Angie's mother, Marie, walked back into the kitchen and smiled at her responsible daughter "Yes, but be careful! I'm coming with you, then I'll pick you up later." Angie had just turned 16 and just got her license. This would be her third time driving. Angie and her mother jumped into their Corvette, Angie started the car, they began driving off in the direction of Courtney's house. "Your cousin has tried so hard to get into this competition. You are lucky she entered your name as well." Angie's mom told her softly. "I know, Courtney's the best!" Angie replied smiling. Angie pulled roughly into the driveway of Courtney's house, grabbed her purse and dashed up the steps "Bye mom! I'll see you later!" As Angie's mother drove out of the driveway Aunt Leiah, Courtney's mother answered the door. "Hello Angie! Come right in" She spoke in her usual energetic voice. Angie quietly stepped into the house, "Courtney..." she called out. "Courtney is outside getting warmed up, then we are loading up the trailer. Your welcome to go outside and see her, of course." Angie yanked open the backdoor with a single thrust of her wrist. "Courtney!" She screamed out excitedly as she saw her cousin, and her cousin's prized Anglo-Arab pureblood Mare, Trinity. "Angie!" Courtney exclaimed leaping from her horse's back..."Would you like to help me load her into the trailer, along with my tack. You can go grab Mia Bella Una." Mia, was Angie's horse. Angie walked around to the stables, she saw Mia at once, looking at ease in her stall. She rubbed the horse's muzzle, and played with her forelock for a second before hastily slipping a halter on her. She clipped the leadrope to the bottom and took off for the trailer, she boarded the horse, and made sure she was secure. Then Angie went to load up her tack, and help Courtney with Trinity. Angie eagerly grabbed Mia's bridle, saddle, girth, and other supplies before neatly arranging them in the tack room of the large trailer. Courtney was already there loading up Trinity. When both horses were content, and the tack was loaded Courtney went to fetch her mom. They hooked up the trailer to the pick-up truck and set-off. Aunt Leiah was driving them as Courtney and Angie sat in the back with the horses. When they arrived at the show grounds, they raced around to the back of the trailer, pulled down the ramp, and walked both horses out. "We should probably get ready." Courtney suggested to Angie.
