Forgotten Souls

Horror Created on 1-8-08 Views(37) Story Rating G

I awoke with a start, fresh tears sprung from my eyes like miniature trampolines. I hastily threw back the sheets and comforter and climbed out of my bed, my feet landed with a thump on the cool wood flooring of my bedroom. I looked around, all seemed quiet. My puppy, Bubbles was downstairs sleeping. Ever since my parents passed away two years ago, (I was fourteen now) I had been forced to move in with my older, twenty-three year old sister, Jessica. We got along alright, but she was never home, including now. I glanced into my vanity and smiled as I pulled open the bottom drawer of my dresser. I reached for a cute "Baby Girl" top, and a pair of my dark blue jeans. As I quickly changed, Bubbles came into the room. She panted twice, before scampering up on to my bed, and falling into a deep sleep. I giggled, and reached for my cell phone, which was propped up against a picture on my bedside table. I shoved the phone into my pocket, before reaching for the picture. I sat down besides Bubbles on the bed, and glared down into the picture. I could feel more tears rising in my throat as I wiped the dust from the glass covering the photo. It was a picture of my mom, dad, sister, and I on our first trip to New York City. We all looked so happy, it was hard to imagine that the picture I was staring at had only been taken three years before. Our lives had changed so much since then, since the drastic fire that killed my parents. I carefully rested the picture frame back on my nightstand and stroked Bubbles silky smooth fur. I checked my watch, it was only 6:00a.m. I grabbed my laptop from the nightstand, but then I saw it the picture frame was there, but we had disappeared from it. I suspiciously stared into the frame, that was really weird. I flipped the switch on my laptop, and immediately a message came on reading "You've got mail." I clicked the button and a message came up "Life is a privilege, many don't deserve it, hopefully you are one of the few that do. You better pray you are." I started shaking uncontrollably, the lights in my house flickered on and off, the fans spun round. The windows slammed open and shut, papers swirled through out the air. I could feel the long hairs on the back of my neck begin to rise in suspense. A image appeared so suddenly, it was a young girl she just stood there smiling. Then her smile began to fade, a evil glare took over, and I swear devil horns were becoming visable. "You aren't the lucky survivor are you?" She laughed menacingly out loud. Then all of a sudden I couldn't feel anything, but a cold rush through out my body like a wave of ice, my world spun, and I was staring into nothing but darkness..."Forgotten Souls" echoed through out my head, as I lived the last moments of my life in fear.
