Cris and Derrick were sitting at their desks at school listening to their math teacher, Mrs. Applegate instruct the first lesson of the day. Derrick's mind was elsewhere, he was concentrating on everything but the lesson. He hated math. Cris was hopeless in math, no matter how hard he tried he could never pass a single test. The two boys were so deeply lost in their thoughts they almost didn't hear when the dismissal bell rang, signaling the end of the school day. Derrick jumped at the third ring of the bell and immediately crammed everything into his backpack before heading out the classroom door, followed by Cris. As they were walking towards the front school door they talked about Derrick's party Saturday, it was going to be totally off the chain! As the boys walked home together they made more plans for the much-awaited party. When Saturday finally came Derrick and Cris met up early in the morning, changed into their party clothes and when the clock struck 6:00p.m. they were ready to party. Cris sprayed cologne on Derrick and himself before they strutted downstairs to greet their guests. Derrick's parents had gone out of town on a business trip and Derrick had been left home alone, so he had decided to throw a wild house party. The party was running smoothly so far, when Natali the girl of Derrick's crush showed up, she greeted him with a friendly hug. He suddenly took her hand and lead her upstairs to the balcony "I have to ask you something." He calmly told her. "Erm..oki." She nodded in agreement. They reached the balcony only moments later. "Natali...You know that I've had feelings towards you for as long as I can remember...You're beautiful, a great singer, and you have the best personality a guy could ask for in a girl. You're all that and then some. So...I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies or something tomorrow night?" Natali gazed off into the distance clearly unsure of how to react. She sighed..."Derrick, you keep telling me you have feelings for me..But how many times must I tell you, I'm just not ready for a serious relationship right now" Derrick looked down, depressingly, he nodded and Natali walked off back to her friends. Derrick through himself back down on to his bed...I just don't understand he thought to himself silently. He grabbed a magazine off his nightstand, he didn't feel like returning to the party to face Natali. He thumbed through the magazine which landed on an article about Vampires. Derrick read the article to himself, then he spotted at the bottom in small print these words "All who read this are doomed to meet their fate, vampires." Derrick raised his eyebrows and stifled a chuckle. The window burst open, a breeze flooded the quiet room turning it into a mass of swirling papers and pictures torn from his walls. A deep voice boomed "Shun this non-believer. Those who don't believe in vampires don't believe in life." and then a dark, hooded figure emerged from the swirling papers. He cackled menacingly, before lashing out and snatching Derrick's arm, tightening his grasp with each attempted struggle. Derrick gazed into the figure's horrible red eyes and felt cold all over. The figure bent over, sunk it's teeth into Derrick's arm and began to suck at his blood. A rush of cold air was building up inside of Derrick's body. Derrick fell back on to his bedroom floor as the figure finished off his blood, Vampire blood began to trickle over the carpet around Derrick's lifeless body. There was a knock at the door, the figure, the vampire, opened it and there stood Natali and Cris. They had heard all the commotion and came to see what was going on. The vampire first grabbed Cris and struck him in the heart fiercely until he too was on the floor coated in vampire blood. Natali bent over to kiss Derrick good-bye but never got the chance because she died just like the two boys, but unlike them she froze in the spot just above Derrick's lips like stone. Vampire blood covered the floor, and the three kids who died because of it. With one last glance and a loud noise sounding much like a whip crack the vampire had gone. Just like that.
