The Pink Nail Polish Philosophy

Other Created on 3-23-07 Views(111) Story Rating G

I stared at my ceiling. Two hours - mezmerised by the visions of a world coexistant with my own. A 10 month stupor; a slumber in which I could not sleep - and suddenly - I look down at my hands and realize in my chipped pink nail polish is my whole life - It doesn't matter, and I love it.
Life starts out as a fresh coat of nail polish. While wet, it can easily be messed up, and we go over it again and again trying to fix what can never be perfect. Then, once we realize we can't fix it, we use religion, our status, our possessions, our friends, and our jobs to excuse ourselves from the reality that there's more to life than stupid nail polish.
There's a humanity out there with a voice greater than any God; there's a planet being destroyed beneath our feet as we consume her resources and over multiply; there are animals being starved of their homes - animals with the full capacity of human beings - fuck "our consciousness" : dolphins, elephants, cuttlefish, octopi, and apes all show signs over self awareness, communication, planning, remorse - How disgusted I am that I live in a "civilized" world would dare to kill
these creatures.
We all are in control of the greater world, even though we may not be able to protect the perfection of our small little coat of nail polish sad excuse for life.

Everything has a habit of falling into place whether you want it to or not; live for something greater than what you want. -
