Darkness
|
There is a curiosity that envies the darkness - powerful forces that consume light, and heat - it sucks in the light, hides behind objects, and sneaks about as the day passes until it can come out to reek its havoc in the night. What would it be like to allow the darkness to seep into the pores, and let it devour the heat and power of the human spirit. Like drowning, turning your head up into the falling rain in fascination - it would take life freely because of recklessness.
What would it be like to be consumed? As pours are filled heat is taken and the body grows cold and numbed, then the mind loses sight, and the stillness ensues to take the gift of sound. The tongue's strength is stolen by the darkness, and no voice can come out. Is this a punishment worse than death, or is it the satisfaction of human curiosity?
