The stale air of the city around her made her gag. She wasn't used to this. This....smog. Well it wasn't really smog but when she came into this world, she had to try and adjust to the air that wasn't as clean as her own. That was another thing she missed. The air. The crisp feeling as it flowed into her lungs smelling of autumn leaves and maple syrup. She sighed. The heavy wind blew her hair in delicate tendrils around her face. Why had she died? Why didn't she listen to her conscious when that man came out of the night. Now here she stayed. Never allowed to see the daylight. Or to feel in her soul how happy the world was when the sunlight danced across the spring trees playing shadows across the lightly dewed grass. Never again. Turning the corner down a darkened alleyway, her breath she could never catch...stopped. He was right there. He saw her she knew it. But as soon as he'd laid eyes on her she'd willed her body to conform with the night around her. "Abagail?" he whispered. But she did not come out from her hiding place in the world of dark. She stayed there...watching and wanting so bad to be in his arms once more. He turned his back to her, and it was then she knew, and understood, what it was to be alone. As she reached out to touch the cheek of the one she'd loved for so long and realized he couldn't feel her. How was she supposed to go on? Being occupied with her own thoughts she never noticed the shadow that crept up and breathed a warning in her ear. "He'll never love you...." it spoke whispering breathlessly....
