"Chris?!...Christopher!! Daddy is calling you!!", he said sweetly. Chris hid inside his closet, his arms wrapped around his knees. He shivered with fear everytime his father called his name.

"Christopher Torres!!! Get your ass here now!!!"

Chris stood where he was, closing his eyes when he saw his father through the cracks of the closet. Chris cried aloud as his father grabbed him by the neck and slammed him against the bed.

"When the fuck am I going to get some respect in this house! Yari!! Yari baby get over here!"

Christopher's mother ran into the room, her eyes red and her eye liner staining her face. His father hit him again and again, Yari standing there in fear. When she tried to move he would hit her and then go back to Chris.

When he tired, he laughed and walked out of the room, yelling with amusement in his voice,"I hope you learned baby. Now hurry up and get me somethin' to eat."

Yari looked at her son, lying helpless on his bed. She shook her head and left the room. Chris painfully made his way under the covers and closed his eyes. Maybe tonight he would dream he was somewhere other than home.
