Azriel sat outside, the rays of the sun hitting his skin, covering him in warmth. He wondered if he would ever see the sun again, even once. He could hear Tirzah's joyful voice calling him from inside the house. He put on a shirt and made his way inside. She took his hand and introduced her mother and sister.

"And this is Jonathan, Miriam's husband. She tells me he comes from Bethlehem, like you."

"Nice to...meet you Azriel."

Azriel smirked, he knew that voice.

"Likewise...My love, I have to finish something outside. Bring your family to their rooms. Alia should be awake."

Tirzah did as she was told, Azriel going back outside. He heard footsteps behind him.

"Jonathan, son of Julius. What a surprise!"

"You say that as if it were a bad thing..."

"Of course it is..."

Azriel sat down and Jonathan sat on the other end of the bench.

"You have a nice home...Beautiful wife..."

Azriel smiled but Jonathan saw the sanger in his face.

"I haven't come here to kill you. I had no idea you were her sister's husband until I arrived. I come to you as a brother. There is time enough to handle revenge."

"He betrayed me, Jonathan. He seeked my life and that of my wife. You would do the same."

"I would...But come now, Tirzah tells me this city is heaven on earth. You will show me won't you?"

"Not until I eat."

"Ruel says he misses his little sister...her songs and food are irreplacable."

Azriel smiled and stood, walking inside, Joanthan following close behind.

"My mother and Miriam are with Alia. Leto is gathering water from the well for us."

"Thankyou love..", Azriel said and kissed her. Jonathan saw the tenderness in Azriel he had never known him to have, except once. But that once was brief.

"Azriel, why don't you bring him to the pool. You both can relax and talk as I make something."

"That would be perfect!", Jonathan said. He followed Azriel down the otherside of the house, Azriel touching the wall to find the decorated handle of the door. He opened it and Jonathan saw the pool, decorated with paintings of the ocean and sea creatures.

"Is that Tirzah?"

"Yes...It was painted there right before I lost my sight. Beautiful isn't it?"

"Yes...They made her into a mermaid."

"Yes..."

Azriel sat down at the edge, his feet in the water. Jonathan followed suit, looking up and seeing the open ceiling that let the sun in.

"I haven't seen you this affectionate since..."

"Sara..."

"She has children now."

"I know."

"You loved her didn't you?"

"Yes..."

"But TIrzah...She is.."

"Different."

"Very...Nothing like Miriam. I have known her for a day and I see how different she is. She has her own mind. She does as she pleases and doesn't care what others think."

"That is what drew me to her..."

"I am happy for you brother."

"Thankyou.."

Jonathan nodded and looked at Azriel's grey eyes. Azriel had once had eyes the color of the sky.

"You haven't changed much. Your hair is the same, you still look as if you could kill off an entire army."

Azriel laughed.

"I could but I won't"

"She has changed you hasn't she?"

Azriel nodded.

"And Alia."

"Yes..Your daughter is precious. You chose her well."

Azriel nodded as Jonathan rose and patted his shoulder. He left Azriel alone. Tirzah came and sat beside him, her soft hands on his, rough and scarred. She kissed him and he smiled.

"I told you he was a friend. Come, Alia is awake and she wants her father. She knows Jonathan is not you."

No...He isn't..He was the only son of Julius not willing to kill. He alone kept his innocence.

"Don't think my love. Be merry. Today is a good day."

He nodded and smiled. She was right.
