She stared at Azriel with her sky blue eyes. She smiled as he sang to her songs of old. He walked around the house, the familiar sounds of birds and children in the distance all around. He smiled as Tirzah joined in, knowing before she handed him the cup that she brought him a drink. He could hear the water moving in the cup. He took the cup and drank it, Tirzah taking Alia into her arms.

"My mother and sister come to visit us in a few days."

He nodded, giving the cup back to her.

"My sister is bringing her new husband."

He felt her tender touch against his cheek.

"I thought you'd like a friend."

"I have all I need here.."

"But I see trust is still out of the question."

"I trust the carpentar and his wife don't I? I trusted you the day I met you."

"I know. But...I mean a man your age. It would help."

"He'd judge me once he knew my past."

"He doesn't have to know."

Azriel walked away.

"I'm sure your sister enlightened him on my past profession."

Tirzah sighed and shook her head as he stormed outside. She watched as he grabbed his knife and began carving slowly into the wood he and the carpentar had chopped. She brought Alia into the room and sang her to sleep.

O Yahweh...He needs so much to trust. His temper is better and he sees life so beautiful now..But he doesn't trust. He thinks everyone will judge him and betray him. He has every reason but Lord...He isolates himself...even from me sometimes...

Tirzah kissed Alia on the forehead and covered her with the blue silk Azriel had paid merchants to bring from China. He adored his daughter and wanted nothing but the best from her.

Tirzah started on dinner, knowing Azriel's gloomy disposition would cease once he smelled lamb and bread, the rice from the Orient with spices from India. She smiled when he walked in, a smirk on his face.

"If I'm correct you brought out the good wine.."

"Of course my love.", she said with a smile.

"You're up to something..", he said finding his way to her. He took the bottle of wine out of her hand and kissed her. She laughed softly and he realized she had a knife in the other.

"Do you wish me dead?"

"No...But a wise man would never try to tempt a woman to bed while she cuts meat."

He smiled and found his way to the chair, Tirzah singing as she set the table and served the food. Little Leto came after checking on the baby. He sat beside them, eating with a smile. His masters treated him as a son, not a servant. He was still a young boy, not yet a youth. He looked at Azriel as how he wanted to be as a man. He didn't care about Azriel's past, that simply made him who he was.

"So Leto, Tirzah tells me you've learned how to write..."

"Yes Master...I like writing. Very much."

"I'm glad...How is your reading?"

"Good. Moses is an amazing man. But Samson reminds me of you."

"Does he?"

"Yes..He has great physical strength. But what made him truly powerful was God."

Azriel nodded and Leto continued eating, Tirzah bringing them dates and figs to eat as she rid the table of the empty plates. Leto went to bed as Azriel walked around the house, using his senses to make sure it was safe. He still had a lingering feeling of danger, a feeling he tried to hide from Tirzah. He was cut short when Tirzah called him to bed, Azriel sighing and lying in bed, making sure his knife was hidden beside him. He knew this was a new life but it was hard to let go.
