Escape Ch.14
Julius fell to the ground, Tirzah jumping over his body to run to Azriel. She fell to her knees beside him.
"Don't you ever ask me to leave your side again! Look at you..", she yelled, Azriel laughing. He tried to lift himself off of the ground, Tirzah helping him limp his way inside. She sat him down on the stone bench beside the bath, handing him a rag to clean off before she stitched his wounds.
"How do I rid us of his body?"
Azriel looked at her bewildered.
"My lord, how do I rid us of that corpse? I want you to clean up as I get rid of it. What must I do?"
"Take it to the mountains. Bury him there. His body will be heavy so I suggest you drag him-"
She left the room, rushing back outside. She took the shovel and went up into the mountain side and found a good place to dig. She made a hole about six feet deep and wide enough that Julius could fit perfectly. She went back down to the house, removing Julius's heavy belt. She took his cloak and threw it on the ground, draggin Julius onto it. She closed his eyes, although he was dead he seemed to still stare at her in shock. She took the cloak into her hands and carefully made her way up to the hole. She used the last of her energy to push him into it, she fell to her knees, covering her face with her hands.
Yahweh...I have become like them....Haven't I?
She wiped her tears and grabbed the shovel, covering the hole again. She made her way home covered in dirt and blood. She threw the shovel as if a spear, walking into the house in tears. Azriel was stitching his leg when she walked into the room. She took off her dress and got into the water, scrubbing herself until red scratched appeared. Azriel limped his way over to her, getting in and taking her into his arms.
"I have become cold Azriel..I donnot feel remorse...I feel as if murder is nothing now..."
"This will pass...you are nothing like me...or them...You are still my innocent Tirzah..."
"My lord, is it over now?"
"Only God will know if the rest will come. But, I believe once they see Julius has not returned they will know he was defeated. As was the seven..."
"But, you're here..."
"Yes, but I am no longer the Seventh....I am yours.Remember?"
She hugged him tight, hoping that their life together would no longer involve death, murder. She hoped that Azriel would be able to keep his promise and be nothing more than Azriel..hers.
Time had passed after Julius's death, their life was now peaceful. Tirzah was her old self once more, Azriel now walked without the use of a cane.
"My lord?", she said happily as she served him dinner.
"Yes?"
"There is a man here to see you."
Azriel raised a brow, calling their servant, Leto, to bring him inside. Tirzah sat beside him, humming as she sewed Azriel a new shirt. Leto came in and bowed.
"Master Al-Haid from Jerusalem is here."
Azriel looked at his old master, he had aged much. The old man walked towards him, asking if he could sit down.
"Azriel the Seventh..How good it is to see you are still alive."
"Save your lies for someone else. What business do you want of me?"
"Julius and the other Five never returned. Tell me, why is that?"
"They are sleeping with their fathers."
He laughed.
"You mean to tell me, that you, Azriel, killed them?"
"No, I had some assistance from my wife."
Al-Haid looked at Tirzah, she was small and innoncent looking. Her rosy cheeks and porcelain skin gave her the look of an angel.
"You chide."
"My lord does not chide. If you donnot believe him, I can show you how I killed them both, Khaled and Julius."
Al-Haid looked at her in shock, Azriel laughing.
"See master, a girl could love me..Even if she has bit of a temper."
"She killed Julius?"
"Yes..she surprised me."
Tirzah smiled, Al-Haid still taken aback. He shook his head and looked at Azriel.
"My son, we have some of the guild here looking for the Seven. Now that I know what has become of them, I shall leave you in peace."
"Do you speak truth?"
"Yes...Azriel you left the guild, you know our secrets. The Seven were sent to kill you but I see we underestimated you."
"If my memory serves me right, the last time you told someone you would leave them alone you killed him in his sleep."
"No, my son...As long as I live no man shall come seeking your life. But never forget to be on guard. Julius's son is alive and well. The other Five have their sons, your age. You knew this..."
"The guild has my word, I have no reason to make known the secrets you hold..My life is here, Athens, my wife. I plan on living in peace."
"Then in peace you shall live. But beware old friends, they have conspired against us."
Al-Haid looked at Azriel and Tirzah and smiled.
"Peace and prosperity be with you. Beware the smile of the teacher and the words of the prince. Farewell."
Al-Haid put a folded note on the table and left, leaving Azriel in thought.
"My lord? The teacher and the prince?"
"Master Remus the teacher...."
"And the Prince?"
"Ezekiel...my half brother."
