Escape Ch.12

Fiction Created on 2-21-08 Views(73) Story Rating G

Azriel opened his eyes, he could see the sun shining through the small cracks of the wooden door. Tirzah was asleep beside him, breathign softly. He smiled and remembered the night before, suddenly the thought of Julius came. He slowly crept out of bed, finding his clothes handing off of the chair. He dressed and grabbed his dagger, checking his surroundings as he walked out of the room. He walked around the house, finding no one. He returned to the bedroom, Tirzah still asleep. He went to bathe, resting his head back. He felt someone put a dagger to his throat.

"You should never keep these lying around my love.", Tirzah said laughing. He opened his eyes and smirked, pulling her into the water with him. She laughed as he splashed water at her face.

"Forgive me my lord, the temptation was too great."

She kissed him, laughing again when he tried to stay serious. She sat down on the steps of the bath, sitting him in front of her. She massaged his back, his muscular body scarred. He flinched when she touched the cross burned into his back. She stopped touching him, getting out of the water and leaving the room.

"My lady?", he said softly as he walked into the courtyard. She was sewing his shirts.

"My lady..You don't have to do this. We were only married yesterday.."

"I need something to keep my busy."

"What troubles you?"

He sat next to her, Tirzah sewing quickly, throwing the shirt in a pile when she finished.

"Why don't you trust me?"

He took her hands in his, looking into her eyes.

"But I do, my love. I do trust you."

"Then why do you act the way you do when I touch your scars? Is it so terrible that you must push me away?"

Azriel looked at her in disbelief. Julius could come at any moment and kill him and all she wanted was conversation. He sighed, turning himself so that she saw his back. He removed his shirt and sighed.

"As a small child, I was abandoned by my mother. She was a whore and my father was a member of court. She left me with him and ran off. He let me stay, lying about my origin and saying I was his slave, that he bought me on his trip to Rome. I slept on the floor of a dark and cold room, rats everywhere. I ate the scraps from his plate. One act of "disobedience" from my part was a lash. A word out of my mouth was two lashes. By the time I was 12 I had enough scars on my back to hate him, but I didn't...."

He paused, taking a deep breathe.

"I didn't hate him, until the night my mother returned, I saw him pay her for her pleasures. They laughed at me together, I was their little wretch. My father, drunk after her departure, took the cross hanging off the wall. He threw it in the fire and with tongs pulled it out. Azriel, my son, he cried. I came running to him as always. He asked me to turn around and said it was to remember my place. I ran off, hiding in the poor side of town. That is where Julius found me and took me in. He cured my wounds, the burn..He offered me a chance to repay those that have hurt me. And so I was taught by the best, when I was ready the Six waited for me outside. I entered the room, finding him with her. I killed her first, you could say she let me kill her. I grabbed him by the neck and told him who I was, he remembered me. After seven years of my being in hiding, he remembered me. I tortured my father to death and walked out of his house as the final member of the Seven."

Tirzah was crying as he turned to look at her. He looked at her and knew she was scared, he was a monster...

"If you wonder if I feel remorse..He haunts my sleep everynight. My mother never did...If you're regretting marrying a monster go ahead and go."

She slapped him in the face.

"I promised you until death. You were a monster..."

She took him into her arms, running her fingers through his hair.

"But now you are mine. And I love you.."

A hand clap came from behind them.

"Azriel the Seventh has confessed his greatest sin. The maiden has softened you, son."

Azriel pushed Tirzah behind him, facing Julius the Greek. He had a cruel smile on his face.

"I believe it is time to end this precious moment. Forgive me, my lady. It is time for Azriel to join his father..."
